Hi guys! I'm so glad to see you enjoying your trip to my home country 🙂 I just wanna provide a bit of context if you should be interested. "Skjoldungerne" is probably best translated to the "Children of Skjold (Shield)". King Skjold is a mythical danish warrior who ruled over all of Sealand from his "Kongsgård (Kings Keep)" located in Lejre. Legend has it he was fathered to a mortal woman by Odin the Allfather. His decendants was known as "Skjoldungerne" and all ruled from the same area as you are trecking in. If anyone wishes to know more, the story of this mythical royal familiy can be found in the "Saga of Knytlingar", "the "Song of Beowulf" and in the "Chronicles of Saxo Gramaticus" Sorry to barge in on your holiday with a lecture, but hope the background story adds a little bit extra to your experience 🙂 Please continue having a wonderful time in Denmark!

TBE is slowly spreading in Denmark. There are a few hotspots where it's super common, but in most of the country it is still rare. Interesting fact is the ticks carrying it can be incredibly local, to the point where a single clearing can have tons of TBE ticks, and the next clearing over have no trace of it. Almost all known cases in Denmark are from a few hotspots, so mitigating the risk is doable so far. For that reason the vaccine isn't recommended unless you live near a hotspot or work daily in tick prone areas in general.

So interesting about how very local it can be. Here in the Czech republic the risk is quite high so we better went for the vaccine. In neighboring Austria more than 85% of people are vaccinated against TBE.

Next time You guys comes back to Denmark, You should take some sights in Jylland and on Fyn!? Especially Mid-Jutland it have a very beautiful nature from Skanderborg and past Silkeborg. There is a large heath area around the Military and commercial Airport of Karup which is worth a visit and in this area there are some beautiful Conifer Plantations with impressive almost untouched nature!! Have some good travels and experiences on the way! Kind regards the Danish Viking

Guys, you are incorrigible, since there were no dangers in sight, Peter took off his shoes and walked on the small rocks in the path, as fakir in India and Tommy lay down on the tick-infested grass!!!!!! Lol. That royal road of the middle ages, where did it lead? I love when Tommy nods ( with holy patience) to everything Peter does and says, ironically, "you are the best". Beautiful video, so peaceful with the flavor of fairy tale. Kisses.

Yeah, it looks like we always create at least small excitements for us when there are no bears or high cliffs or anything 😀 We have no idea where the road lead, probably to some hunting grounds. It was maybe an 18 km (11 miles) long hike, nothing too extreme 😉 We loved being in nature and you are right, I was very refreshed after the swim 😁

Hi guys. I wished you went on to Lejre and saw Sagnlandet Museum and the surroundings of the country sides. It’s so breathtaking beautiful and you were so close by. But fantastic to see you jump into the lake sometimes that’s better and warmer than the water at the beaches. Anyway thank you for the visit outside of Copenhagen it great to see that some tourist likes the nature too.

There were big wildfires in their province in the middle of May and the smoke was everywhere in the city and the sky orange. These current ones are elsewhere so luckily they are ok now. It's crazy how far the smoke can get, wow!

Looks like great fun. Some avantages of hiking in Europe compared to America-no bears, no cougars, no coyotes, no wolves, etc. You have to arm yourself when hiking here.

Hey guys, I see you descovering Denmark's "hills" and mountains which you can cross if you jump lol.. i had same reaction, they call this a hill? That's something kid makes playing in a sand. I was so confused when one Danish guy was so excited to show us their hills.. I was literally puzzled and asked when will we get to hills and he was like we are here.. whole group bursted into laugh coz of my face expression... btw Skjoldungernes land the name of national park is something like shielding cubs land/area, , in croatian it makes sense but no idea how to turn it into english, in danish makes sense too, guess it would be like land/area of protected spiecies or something like that, it is hosirical area, i bet some trees are hundreds of years old... you can actually go in wooden boat wich looks like a cage thru lake.. i tried to explain how to prounounce Skjoldungernes but to be honest no idea how to do it english,in icelandic it would be closest to danish, skjöldungarnir . for slavs it is tounge braking...land is just la (e)nd..

@@tommyandpeter I mean it is not actual boat more like a raft, missing English word, with security fence not to fall, coz you actuali need to lean over fence if you are the one pulling ropes, may e is automatic now. It is more like a push pull raft..hah by the way you said it I guess you used it. It is on the places where bridge can't be built I guess , to cross to other side..
