I think the thing all our futures hinge on is WW3. And from what NATO and Russia say it's going to happen. It's to bad everyone would just refuse to fight in endless wars.
Can I just say that regardless of what you end up doing, for tens of thousands of us, you put Svalbard on the map. You introduced us to this beautiful slice of heaven, a part most of us would not have known of without you and this beautiful channel. You have done more for Svalbard than any chamber of commerce. You, Christoffer and Grimm are a beautiful family and I look forward to your future successes. This channel, with its low key, beautifully edited storytelling sets the bar for this genre on RU-vid
Beautifully said! Since following Cecelia (for some years now) I've had random conversations (while in the USA) with people about Svalbard and only because of Cecelia's channel. I've met I think only 2 people who actually had even heard of Svalbard and one person who had actually lived there for a few months working on a project which blew my mind. Thank you again for your so beautifully expressed comment.
I really admire that you are able to live there. I think I would love the summers. I don't think I could take the extreme cold or the dark. Blessings to you both.
Love your videos, though not caught up w all of them. Still learning about your life with Christopher and Grim. ❤ I love your adventurous spirit and showing people worldwide what life is like in different places!❤❤❤ Grim’s commercial is so adorable!!
Couldn't picture you ok leaving the cabin. Maybe time share 3 polar nights and 3 summer months split it as swalvard is unique in between the two.seasons.., trees and sweden and friends sounds amazing
I hope you get a beautiful Cabin in Beautiful breathtaking Sweden, vlogs from this mesmerizing location would be amazingly Awesome 💙🦋💚💖Portugal doesn't have that captivating effect like Sweden
You’re a Joy to watch! You’re a Ray of Sunshine! ❤ Could you share some Norwegian and Swedish recipes With me? I and collecting recipes in honour of my Norwegian Grandma Swedish Grandpa I would really appreciate this!❤
@@lynns609The whole sea will never freeze, but as shown in the video the water close to the shore can definitely develop an ice coat (from thin slush to actual closed ice) when it's cold enough - but it really does need to be quite cold for a while, because you're right, the sea does move all the time, and the salt also lowers the freezing temperature of the water. So if there is ice on the sea you can be sure it's damn cold!
@@lynns609 obviously it does! 😉 I guess you didn't notice at the beginning of the video when she took out bedding to air on their deck. Their adorable cabin is right on the "sea", though technically I guess that's a fjord. Anyway, in that shot, all you see is snow and ice. Maybe you're new to the channel and don't know yet where their cabin is, but yes. Also in places near the poles there are ships that have to break through the ice to get to where they need to go. There are cases of ships being stuck in the ice for weeks because they couldn't break through and when they stopped it froze them in place! Can you imagine??!!🥶😱
I love the idea of you guys getting property on the mainland. Not only is it smart to buy and renovate while you’re young, but being close to friends and family is super important too. I’ll watch no matter where you live.
I returned from a magical trip to Svalbard recently. From Australia. Literally the opposite end of the earth. I was inspired by you Cecilia. I will never forget it. ❤
My Golden Retriever, Leo, and I cannot get enough of Grimm! He has inspired Leo’s weight loss journey from 102 lbs (in December 2021) to 85 lbs today (March 2024!). Thank you Grimm and Cecilia! ✌️❤️😊
I personally watch RU-vid channels because I like the people behind them... not where they live. Svalbard is beautiful, but ultimately you have to make choices for you... not your audience. A Cecilia video is a Cecilia video... no matter where it's filmed. ❤
So pleased that you two are not moving for the foreseeable. I need my weekly fix of the Arctic. I’ve also learned so much about Svalbard from watching your easy going, informative and entertaining channel. Please keep doing what you’re doing, it’s fabulous ❤
Grim barking a warning when you first went down the hill, then sliding down with you when he realized it was OK....no better display ever of "man's best friend!" Good boy Grim!
it's not a warn bark LMAO. it's when he wants to go but feels that he can't but still wants. It's a normal dog behavior more like "bro help me get down" . similar of when you would call your dog is afraid of water and you sit inside water and call them. it has 0 to do with your human-interpretation, not with loyality nor anxious worries but more a call to get him down (you can even see it when she pulled him) but yeah if you don't know anything about dogs.....
@@glasperle77 Let's not be too harsh ok? We're all friendly viewers here who enjoy Cecilias videos. I've had dogs all my life and sometimes dogs DO bark as a warning to us. But, in this case I agree, you read Grim's behavior exactly like I did. 👍
3:37 when you talked about rethinking everything: this year I decided to try to go to veterinary school! I am a vet nurse, but I decided I want to try for veterinary!
Good for you! My daughter is a Vet nurse and I know you all don't make buckets of money. Vet school is harder than med school they say, but so rewarding. And we NEED more Vets these days!
Cecilia my MOm was from Germany and she always put bedding outside in winter to freshen it up! I love the smell of clean air on the bedding when she bought it in!! Thanks ❤
I take my bedding out to hang on my clothes line weekly. ...along with my naked pillows. Yesterday, there was very little sun but wind was abundant. Twas so nice to lie down on pillows that smelled of fresh air!
Cecelia, you are so talented and full of heart. You have gotten me through 2 surgeries and 3 weeks of no energy. I have ADHD and your videos are so helpful in being therapeutic and relaxing. Please always follow your heart.
So glad your viewers will be treated with more amazing scenery from Svalbard in the future. The drone shots of the ice is stunning! Hope you and Christoffer can travel the world this year. Hugs from Canada
The title made me a bit scared but I'm happy to hear that Svalbard will remain your base for the upcoming years. Also a very good idea to buy a cabin close to your friends in Sweden. Cabins in the north of Sweden are quite cheap and the region is beautiful as well! I'm looking forward to seeing your next steps in life. I definitely enjoy the variety in content from different places. 😃
Just click bait. I hate when people put these dramatic posts up and it ends up being nothing. I unsubscribed from her because it's the same thing every video plus she wasn't very nice to a fellow youtuber who wanted to meet her when he visited svarlbard. So I just thought stuck up so and so.
I will be in Svalbard in a week. If I see either you or Chris in town, I would like to at least say 'Hi' and that I'm a subscriber. Other than that, thanks for all of the information on Svalbard and it has really helped me prepare for the weather and locale. I am so looking forward to it.
Yes, I agree with everyone here in saying how we have learned so much about Svalbard through you, Cecilia. I had never heard of Svalbard before, so you have opened up another corner of the world for me!
You have just to follow your heart! If you and Christoffer wish to spend some months elsewhere...we will always folloiw your new adventures on youtube and Grim will be with you! Very happy to see the icy ocean, it is a good thing! Thank you Cecilia for sharing ❤
I had husky, he lived for 14 years! He lived in our house all his life and slept with me in my bed like a king! 👑 He had a best life. We miss him so much. ❤ Now we have a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. She is already 6! How time flies. I love to watch your videos. 😊 In Croatia we don't have so much snow, so I love it! Kiss Grimm for us, he is adorable!😊❤
Omg, that looked like so much fun sliding down the hill into the frozen fjord! You guys looked like a couple of kids having fun! Haha! And Grimm took that hill like a boss! 😁 I hear you on the appreciation on aging dogs! My Shih Tzu, Sydney, just turned 16 in February (small dogs do tend to have longer life spans than bigger dogs). She has shown signs of aging, but she’s a resilient one!
Normally save these videos for my Monday morning back to work routine (I’m a freelancer and travel blogger). I get a coffee and watch your latest upload while I wake up & write my to do list for the day and week, but I clicked so fast on this one!
Your videos showing your life always make me feel so at peace and happy. I can't even really describe it properly! So glad that you are making your home base Svalbard because it is beyond beautiful but we will all follow you wherever you go!
I don’t know if you could but man it would be cool if you guys had a live webcam looking out at the fjord! I would watch the sunrise/set and see how it would look during polar night/day anytime I could! I probably just watch the ocean and the weather to relax. If there is something like that already I would love to know but your view is incredible. Thank you so much for sharing your life!❤
Cecilia Christoffer n Grim are synonymous with Svalbard... Please do not leave this heaven dearie ! We experience happiness watching your Svalbard videos ! ❤❤
I envy so much of life in Svalbard. The insulation and fireplace for a start and the food served.. I can light a fire and make lots of good food but what do I then do when the freezer is full?? My life is quite limited by a regular fridge with a small freezer. When I make them good meals and have leftovers for a week, I wish I could just leave it on the terrace and have it deeply frozen for a later day. No need for Uber food delivered to the door . Ah..Svalbard life is like a freezing dream for a foodie.
I'm happy you're not moving from Svalbard, but I'd watch you anywhere, because I love your videos :) I've loved your travel vlogs too! Another couple I watch have a home in Positano, and they also bought another one in Tuscany, and plan to split their time between the two. Sounds like that could work for you two as well! Whatever you do, I'm sure it will be fun for you both, and fun to watch :D
I feel the season from polar night to midnight sun goes so quickly! The fjord being frozen is just wild to see. One of my fave places you've been to is Pyramiden. I absolutely loved it when you toured that place a couple years ago! Marianna 💜💜
Oh, haha - just when I was wondering how you were going to haul Grim up the hill, he ran up the hill. 😄 That filtered light over the land and the patterns on the ice are magnificent! Thank you so much for this view of where you are on this amazing blue planet. 😍
The noise the snow makes is one of my favourite sounds in the whole world. I’ve only spent one winter in the north of Europe many years ago but that sound still brings back fond memories.
I have always thought that the people who had the most appealing living arrangement, own two homes. Neither home has to be luxurious. It has to be well made, a comfortable size, easy to open up for an extended stay and easy to close down securely until another time. What I view as an isolated life in Svalbard, might be balanced by more of a village life somewhere else. Best of both worlds. Endless fun to contemplate.
What a great decision to spend more fantastic years on Svalbard! A cabin near your friends in sweden would be exciting ;-)) I wish you + Christopher + Grimm the most wonderful spring ! 🐻❄🐰🐻❄🐰🐻❄🐰
Its great to move between locations. Once we had the freedom to do that, we did. Then we got tired to going back and forth, so we moved to the new location. Then when we got tired of that location, we moved again ... from the far north, to the far south. Life is an adventure ... have fun and enjoy life wherever you are ... which I think you already do very well!
Another clickbait title from Cecilia. No they aren’t quitting youtube (a few weeks ago). No they’re not quitting Svalbard - they plan to take more vacations. I guess these clickbait titles and dumb face reaction shots in the video photos are what it takes to build an audience on YT these days.
I get the travel + quality time. Something that shook me was, “How old are your parents?” If you see them 1x a year, for me, that was only 9-12 more visits for me.
My parents are in their late 60's so not that old, but I still find it important to spend more time with them now :) So I want to make sure that happens more regularly :)
That's very true if you can only see parents for a couple of days a year. I saw someone talk about how it added up to only seeing their parents for the equivalent of a few weeks worth of days once they'd left home because they only went to see them for brief trips. It triggered them to take longer trips in those last years or their parent's life. I don't think we realise how quickly the years fly by.
My parents are now both older than their own parents were when they died. I’ve already had cancer for the first time. I just focus on spending as much time with them as I can get. I have no family of my own so of they go first I’ll be utterly lost and if I go first it’ll be the ‘wrong way around’ and a lot of grief that they really shouldn’t have at their age. We’re clinging like little barnacles! I first got sick in my thirties and it did a lot of damage. I feel like I’ve spent the whole time since limping along waiting for the next blow instead of being able to breathe and make the most of survival. Survival hurts! Blooming painful. If you are in good health or have a good support system please make the most of it. Those things don’t last forever. Enjoy it while you can.
@Dees3179,I am also a cancer patient.mine has spread so I live from scan to scan.i feel your pain and anxiety because it is my own as well. I try not to live in fear, but it takes a lot of energy.its the reason I love RU-vid channels like this one because they take me far away from my life. Am grateful for every breathe and hope for a few more years. Best of wishes to you. You are not alone.
Ceci, I think everyone is just so up in your business, lol. Like "when are you guys moving" or "when are you having kids". People need to mind their own business 😅
I have an 11 yr old American Eskimo/spitz breed dog named Phillipe and Grimm has always reminded me of him. I think they would be fast, winter-loving, friends if they were to meet. When Grim started worry barking when you were sliding down the hill... that's a dog who loves his mama.
Best news ever!! Cecilia is the reason I will eventually visit Svalbard with my wife. I am so glad you’re not leaving. I love your travel videos and all your content!!!!
Have you noticed how the sound of the snow crunching under your feet changes as it gets colder? It gets louder, higher pitched, and sqeakier as the temperatures drop.
yup. You know it's hella cold when the snow squeaks under your feet! Clearly our buddy Cecelia is acclimated to that kind of cold. It doesn't get below zero where I live often. Maybe once or twice a Winter, though not this past Winter. But last time I was out in that temperature I had to take my gloves off to do something and my hands hurt from the cold in seconds. There she is outside with just her PJs on and calling it "crisp"! 🤣🥶😲😳😝
@dod2304 I've lived in the far north for most of my life, but somehow, I never noticed the way the sound of footsteps in the snow changed with temperature until I heard it on videos.
Having nearly had my fingers frozen off at -20 up on a mountain in the Alps years ago, I can't imagine Cecilia just saying 'I can go outside in my pajamas now' XD omg.. since that winter I refused to have ski/snowboard shoes with laces, since you have to take your gloves off. When it's way too cold, that's just not what you want. -20 is really damn cold.
We are soooo excited for you guys!! You’re talking about that cabin in Norway like it’s so far in the future, but you should do it right away! Don’t put life on hold and spend as much time with friends and family as possible. Plus we want more Nordic travel content !!
20 below zero? Yikes! Where we live we panic if it hits 20 above! If somebody reports seeing a few snowflakes, they close the schools! But then, the humidity here is so high, the cold feels wet and nasty. I'm sure yours is much more bearable.
Well I dont like clickbait titles too so I get why someone might get irritated. Still really like all of Cecilia's work so it's not end of the world, just a little pet peeve 😅
Wow Cecilia this might have to be one of my favourites! You are amazing going out in -20 in your Pj’s. I love the stunning views, the fun sliding down to the fiord, drinking coffee by the fire, chats with Christoffer and of course gorgeous Grim! 🩵❄️
