I think the white paint with the beams and stone accents is classic. It will look a bit Mediterrian and certainly timeless. Plus, it makes those rooms look larger. Anyway, you can live with it awhile and then decide. For such a young couple, you two will have an incredibly beautiful home--one that will endure. You both worked hard, so you should be proud of what you accomplished for yourselves.

The inside looks tremendous but I can’t believe how much progress you’ve made cleaning up the yard and turning the waste into fuel for your fire.

For inspiration when trying to decide on colours for your walls, windows, fireplace, etc, think about what you like. Do you like heritage colours it patterns? Do you like neutral colours like off white and beige? Don't worry about the latest fashion looks for interiors. As these age quickly. Instead, look at the sort of feeling you want from the room, warm, cosy, open, airy, etc. then type those words into a paint google search. All the best.

I vote for neutral colors. Your house has a rustic vibe; so many natural materials have been used, so I would go for neutrals with just a pop of color here and there in wall hangings and kitchen accessories. The fireplace area walls are best left white, with color reserved for the furnishings.

I bet you could line, or tile, the back of the fireplace with something that would reflect the heat back into the room.

Diego, may I recommend you install a stone stove there are several brands available including tulkivi without promoting that brand. A stone stove has the advantage that hours after the last flames, it still gives off the heat it has stored. I can only congratulate you on all the work you have done.

In my opinion you first have to know what your floor will look like before painting the walls. Also what color kitchen units you will choose. If kitchen is white I like a beige that is sunny but not yellow. It gives feeling of summer even in winter and with warm electric bulbs it is very harmonious and calm. Color comes from decoration items. The above color combination is very nice with seladon (kind of light green-yellowish) for one or more walls.

Hi Diego and Joanna. I don't know if you are interested by this topic, and you are for sure very busy. But maybe in the futur when you will be more available you will be able to take care of this on your property. I am an archaeologist in the middle east. I never put attention to that, but when I noticed at minute (05:00 on this video #68) that you are located at the center of the village and just next to the church I thought about this idea: I don't know your village history and region, but maybe there is some archaeology in your ground. Who knows. The village should be located maybe in the south west of France right? Already during antiquity this area was very inhabited, full of roman cities, opidae or villages and villas, vineyards etc. I saw the village is located in the plain, which are the prefered agricultural and settlements areas for all ages. Generally, where you have current villages or cities, it is build above ancient settlements. If you dig a bit in your garden or even below your home floor I am quite sure you will find something: Maybe ancient walls of previous houses. It make sense, since you are near the church and for so: at the village center (or the "old city"). If you come one day with a metal detector in your garden, you will maybe be astonished to find somes ancient coins. For sure you will find at least coins that are dates to the 17 or 18 centuries and forward. If you have luck and if your village history goes back to antiquity so you will maybe find even at least late bronze roman coins. If you digg a little bit your garden's ground, even at 10 or 20 cm, you will most probably find some ancient pottery pieces and shards. If it is with glazura bright colors on it (green, orange, blue, brown, yellow) so they are dated to later periods: middle age and forward, even till 19 century. If it is only dark black or redish or without any color, and without a glazura with a very bright covering: It should be Roman, most probably. Enjoy. I would really like one of these colors in there if it was my home… ffc278 hex color, or beeswax by Dominique Finishes, this one is a lime wash. But the wall color will depend on the color of the floor tiles. It’s looking great!❤️🤗🐝

Hi Diego I think ypu could paint a feature wall(s)in a very light sandstone or stone colouring to compliment the timber and stone features. They would ho with virtually any tiling you put down. Great project by the ay!❤

Hmm, I think that if you want a contrasting wall in the kitchen or area with the fireplace, I think the first question would be: wallpaper or paint? There are some really nice wallpapers out there that are made for this purpose, and some decorative films that have structure to them as well to imitate things like stone or brick. Besides that there are other alternatives as well using appliques on top of the wall. But my best advice to you is this: if you're going to do it, go bold. With so much white everywhere, I'd go for something that accentuates the colours that are there (and will be once you install the cabinets). A suggestion is to google 'colour wheel' and check for colours that go well together. If you pick one colour you like (for example the wood above the fireplace) there are also websites that will give you a chart with colours that would go well with it. Good luck!

I have been following you two for quite some time now and you impress me. I know the extent of a renovation like this, and you two clearly have have it takes to finish this up looking absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing. On colours that is clearly individual, but if you want the floor and the wood acsents to stand out like now, well (close to white) is the way to go. Tone-in-tone is something to remember in a colour sceme too, bc accessories will always provide "life" to the final result. As a retired painter I will tell you that a good quality (not too matte) 10 gloss paint in a pre-mixed (from factory) is the better choice. Here in scandinavia (at least) NCS code S-0502-Y is a pre-mixed coluor that is close to white and also matches pre-painted doors and windows here. In english the colour would be eggshell-white.The plus is that you get more pigments in those pre-mixed buckets than in the ones they have to mix for you. I recommend to stay away from the cheapest and the mattest if you plan to keep it for a while. Those "fancy" easy-clean mostly don't, and white matte is a pain to keep nice from stains too. I see you use a very narrow spatula/plaster-tool. Go wider if you can. Saves you time, and gives you much more control an a more even surface to sand. On gypsum I used 1 15 cm + 1 30-40 cm (to keep the plaster on and fill wide. The same handheld you have in 40 cm with (looks like 40..?). Short video tip here: ru-vid.com1ZbcPRB8u7g And if you have many rooms left sanding I recomend one of these; www.leroymerlin.es/productos/herramientas/herramientas-de-mano/lijas-de-mano/stanley-stht0-05928-lijadora-con-mango-de-1-3m-82967621.html I could not get access to their french website so here it is in spanish. ;-) These are made from many producers but I find the best are in metal (still cheap) with a handle to put on a telescopic shaft. And you buy paper on rolls to attach on them. Easy to do roofs too with standing on the floor. When painting, always roll the shaft from roof to floor at normal roof-height instead of small up/downs. Have enough paint on the roll to distribute it ever so slightly (wo. pressure) from 2/3s up till 1/3 up with a slight bow in the area you put paint on. Just to distribute the paint somewhat even in a thick layer. Start 5-10 cm past last painted surface. Now slightly apply more pressure and roll from top to bottom in a slight x before evening it out always working the whole wall (up/down) slightly sideways in even strokes. Takes less energy once you have the technique, gives even results and is faster. Good roller is important. If you hear the roller making "dry" sound you apply too little paint. If you get a "wonky" pattern dried (like in many places painted where time matters more than finish, it is not well enough distributed over enough surface. Good are important too. brushes too. Same there; lots of paint. Long strokes. :-) I hope these tips can be helpful. I myself did not know all that you do at your age. Be proud. Life is about learning.
