Thank you. I was one of the wig sisters that asked about cooler wigs and being hot. Recently I forgot my wig and ended up at CVS with my buzzed balding head exposed, I said if Jada Pinkett can do it so can I and I went in all naked mole rat, and got the medicine my son needed.😂
I wet my head during the heat and add the wig on after that. You can also do this during the day if you are overheated. Go to a bathroom and wet your head there then reads the wig.
I read someone kept a couple of cotton or bamboo caps in the fridge and when she was going out for an extended amount of time she wore one under her wig and took the other in a cool bag or in a fridge at work to change later 💖

It would be nice if wig manufacturers rated their wigs by length, density, permatease, denier, and texture. Please pass this along. The only way we can get these details, is from watching a lot of videos by reviews like you. I really appreciate it and thank you. It does take a lot of time, trail and error, returns and reorders. Also, I like your style. You tell it like it is, you are straight up with your wording and your descriptions. Great! Keep going!
Another thing, the way I keep cool on those warm/hot days is I wash my hair and wear it just towel dried under my wig. It's perfect and by the time I get home for the day, my hair is dried. Since my hair is long, it does dry kinda "crunchy" but since I wear alternative hair, that's no problem. I have noticed my hair is in better shape because I rarely dry it or use hot tools on it.
Hi Denise, I live in a very hot climate, our summers are brutal, so this topic is important to me. I’d love (if you have the time and interest) for you to compile a list of low density wigs in a variety of styles and lengths. I’ve got my own list going but I don’t have access to wigs as you do, and my wig journey is relatively new. Perhaps you could add it into your New To Wigs series? This would have helped me such a lot, especially at the start. Another reason I need something like this is I became addicted to buying wigs, it was overwhelming for a while, and such a list would have saved me wasting a lot of money. 9:32 - or scarves! I wear a tichel shaper, I put a small ice pack inside it, then I wrap a lightweight tichel. It helps me stay quite comfortable on the hottest days. 😊
I use those rigid head band visorsuse it to hold the wig slightly off your scalp above your liners by carefully feeding the end grips between the wefts to slightly elevate the wig off the top of your head and if long , use a claw clip to lift up the length behind your head . Works like an air vent in an attic😉

This is my biggest concern about moving from toppers to a full wig. I have a hot head - MS has left me with a wonky thermostat! Permatease is my friend - unfortunately! Love the headband wig idea! Such a great video - thanks for your help! ❤️
I am now wearing a Gaiatop mini neck fan that I got on Amazon - and it helps beat the heat from the wig - three speeds - the lowest is very quiet and other speeds ok too. A number of colors. The fan looks like speakers. Maybe this will be useful to others. Thanks again for your work on this!
Thanks as always Denise, great info regarding length and permatease! I barely have any bio hair now at age 60 but I keep what I have so I can still mainly wear toppers (no clips). I run HOT! 🥵 so I'm quite worried about warm weather with wigs. This will be my first summer trying wigs. I have had luck with Milano and Thinhairthick topper grips which I use sometimes. They are small velvet with plastic halo wires. A must have for me is hairpiece tape in the front and sometimes at the crown because I am so bare up there it works really well. I apply anti sweat scalp spray first which I think helps with bonding a lot. I also use tape at the front of my wigs, 91% rubbing alcohol takes it right off. Since I have a little hair I use curved bobby pins on the sides and back of my toppers. When I want extra security I use headbands over them. I have to have toppers with very good coverage front to back which is usually a challenge to find, I manage though. I hope this helps someone out there. Sherry

You're so informative, l think the headband wig would also look wonderful with fake bangs, maybe adding some curtain or side bangs and pulling them under the headband. Certainly a good way to keep cool. This was a great review. Thankyou🤗
They do make some like that! I bought a human hair one early in my journey that came with detachable bangs, the front was velcro. I never used them, now you have me wondering where they went!
Super helpful!! I’m on strong pain meds which make me sweat profusely from my dang head & face😡 I’m also disabled & not able to style my hair so, I’m looking for wig options to mitigate the sweating issue so, I really appreciate all of your advice more than I could ever say!!

Putting my long wigs in an updo is something I haven’t tried yet. That may help with being able to wear them on hot days. I just thought of that while scrolling through your older videos.

I have a flat head, so wig crowns are too baggy. Instead of making smaller, I sewed a pocket onto the underside of the back crown of my head. I put a reusable ice pack that I slip into the pocket. My head stays cool & the baggy area of the wig is now the right size and I stay cool. If the gel pack is frozen, I can get a headache from the cold.
Excellent tips. I love that I can wear toppers because they are definitely cooler. The first hair I ever bought was a Jon Renau topper, Top Style. So comfortable I can almost forget I'm wearing hair. P.S. There ya go bragging about your cute little apricot ears! LOL I'd go with covering my ears with a headband.
Excellent, video, Denise. I just shared this video with a women who started a channel over a year ago (Karen Lipman); in her video she is struggling with heat and sweating on the area in the front that has a lot of hair loss.
I always dread this time of year because I know that I will be running MORE hot. I hate to sweat but during spring and summer it can’t be avoided. Your video was timely because next week our temperatures will be close to 80. Yuck. I did get flair mono so I can’t wait to find out if it is cooler. You look beautiful in Finn.
We are still in the basement with temperatures, and while I am hankering for a warm up, I am grateful that I can still wear the majority of my wigs fairly comfortably. Hope you love Flair Mono as much as I do!
Thank you for the tips! I bought my first wig in February and it was the Estetica in iced mocha (not Finn) but the much longer version (I am not sure of the name). I live in Oregon and it was great during the winter but now that it is getting warmer I feel like I'm wearing a coonskin hat! I am 58 years old and still get “the power surges” a few times a day and will sweat like crazy! I always run hot but whew!!! I only have 2 wigs (both long) and can’t really afford another one just yet, so I am always looking for ways to keep cooler. Thank you for what you are doing. You are beautiful! I live in Brisbane, Australia, so it is often very hot and humid, plus I have a horse - I have to wear a helmet and do a lot of outdoor work. I just cannot wear a wig here, so I have settled for toppers. The clips do affect my wispy, thin hair and I am aware of the thinning around the clips, but until there is an alternative, I will have to put up with that. I need a full coverage topper because my hair loss is severe

I'm very hot all the time like you, so it would be difficult for me to have something on my head like that. I'm from Illinois and I love fall and winter. I'm in texas now outside houston. I am miserable.. Sweaty all the time. Suffocating humidity that sucks the life out of you. Hubby closes his office doors and turns his heater to 80 or 90 degrees. I'm wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Ugh.
I can remember when summer came around I wanted to chop off all my hair. Pulling it up off my neck did not help either. Real hair is as hot as a wig, no difference to me. So I just wear low density chin length and no problem.
I've never had much hair volume and wondered if anyone has worn a topper that gives coverage _almost_ like a wig? I have lots of toppers I blend with my bio hair but I wondered about the possibility of cutting my bio hair in a short style to wear around the house, but wearing a longer stylish topper if I leave the house. Hope this makes sense!
I saw a recent video on Trista’s Tresses where she showed a topper over her pulled up hair, that gave great coverage. It had a very large cap area and lace front. You should check her out.

I do find wigs hot I'm afraid. My thermostat went AWOL at menopause! I have to keep wig hair off my neck as far as possible. Low permatease is definitely better in summer.
Denise..I'm new at this..I wear them now..I have 9 of them..I see you have them hanging on the wall..is that how you keep them? Is it bad to keep them in their box?
I think Texas is a particular challenge in the summer... I would look for something as short as you can go, not hand tied (wefts are cooler) with as little permatease as possible. It will still be hot, but it will be as good as you can get in that heat.
It's funny, when I don't go into a lot of detail, I'm told I'm not providing enough, lol. I get it, time is at a premium. I'm sure I can work on finding a happy medium.

I'm just trying to keep in mind those who are brand new and know nothing at all. Plus, I'm not sure if you know what Strengthfinders is... it is a personality assessment that we use a lot at my old employer. I have context in my top 5, which is why I like to provide a lot of context and backstory to why I say what I am saying and how I got to where I am because I am always looking for that myself. I'll consider your feedback, though, and see what I can do to make sure those who don't need that also get what they need.
