Unrelated but I struggle to know the difference 😭 i think sociopaths tend to come through trauma but psychopaths are born that way they both struggle to feel certain emotions or even have them at all but they still feel emotions the emotion i think they all lack is empathy and maybe guilt and thats what make them dangerous and its also another reason why putting psychopaths and sociopaths under a lie test wont help cuz they dont feel the guilt for lying. Sociopaths tend to be more explosive and struggle ti fit into society but psychopaths tend to be able to blend in society and fit more while looking like a normal person so most videos of a psychopath acting outwardly crazy and insane is technically inaccurate and that should technically be either and insane person or a sociopath thats what i THINK the difference is but thats after watching like 20+ videos and still struggling to know the difference and i dont even know if im right 😭
You've got a good grasp on it! The main thing is that sociopaths, like you said, are more erratic and they tend to act out more, so it's difficult for them to be a functioning part of society, to put it crudely. Psychopaths while similar in regards to their lack of empathy, are different because they are often charming and sociable, and they are, as you also mentioned, able to blend in and integrate within society well. However, with sociopaths, even if they commit wrong acts, they are still aware of what is right from wrong, they are just simply apathetic to the fact, and don't care. Psychopaths can not tell right from wrong, in regards to their actions. They firmly and fully believe that what they are doing is correct, and they they are perfect. that's why psychopaths can be more involved with crime, because they don't think or belive that the law or morality applies to them, or they believe they should create their own law and set their own standard for morality. It's also important to note that, even if someone has been diagnosed with psychopathy or sociopathy, that doesn't mean they are a bad, violent or criminal person. There are plenty of people that have this disorder/issue and are able to live normal and happy lives. I hope that helped you a little bit in understanding the difference. If you are still unsure though, I recommend looking at various medical journals and websites, as well as extensive studies that have been done on this topic. Not only are they all very intriguing, they are also very informative! Thank you for watching!
