I think a key component is being calm, “there”, in the moment (all meaning the same thing conceptually); this is the quality savants have tried to convey over the centuries: BE THERE - perceive what IS!

Agree. Lots of recreational players would rush and make mistake.

Is this a great example though of when to wrong foot an opponent though? Sinner should be easily able to hit a cross-court winner with his backhand in this instance. I think for rec level players, this particular shot that Sinner hit here is not so easy to hit and its much easier to hit a cross court shot in this scenario.

I made this video to introduce the idea of wrong footing an opponent to rec players who never do it or even think of it. In this video, Sinner wrong-footed the opponent. So, it’s a perfect example. Thanks for watching!

@@2MinuteTennis okay. Not trying to be argumentative and I get the point you are making. I'm am just trying to think about this point for myself (and other rec levels players). Since I don't often wrong foot the opponent with this short backhand, I feel like I am more like to miss the shot in this particular scenario than if I go cross court. I am just a 4.0 level player though and learning the game of tennis.

@@stevenjm12 It looks to me more like both shots would have been very easy for sinner after hitting such a good serve, he really didn't have to hit with much pace. So it seems like a perfectly good example to me of wrong footing.

@@aaronjosephs6233 agree partially. If he could make any shot here basically (which I agree with), why then is it a great example of an advantageous opportunity to wrong-foot the opponent? To me, Id like an example where the down the line shot is the better shot than the cross court to illuminate the point

@@stevenjm12 kind of nitpicking I think, the clip is simply showing that kokkinakis is running one direction and has to change his direction to get to the ball. I guess the perfect clip would show a ball that they actually get a bit closer to since he really had no chance in either direction
