Mr. Mankowitz has been temporarily promoted to head of the gents' and ladies' department. In his absence, Mr. Humphries has been elevated to senior of mens', and Mr. Randle to senior assistant. The staff stay behind to hire a new junior.
This episode is rather interesting as it's not a straight remake of the original. They actually managed to add in some original content, but also at the expense of the segment where Mr. Goldberg's friends otherwise rushed in at the start of the day to spend a ton of money.
The problem with the remake was that they used the same scripts as the U.K. Version. John Inman says that when they began filming he was looking at there name badges a lot so to remember the new names and not use the ones we know.I agree that it was a good attempt, but I feel the series would have been better if they had created new scripts.
