Allah says there are good people amongst jews and Christians in the quran. You two are definitely good amongst what allah says. I don't know but the way you talk inside of you. You have moved one step forward that is believe in Muhammad pbuh and the glorious quran. You two are honest and that's why allah has guided you. Yes. Sometimes even Muslims are failing on Gods test. Islam is the only religion focuses on STRONG faith in one God. That's why Islam has founded on five pillars to ensure that people will not deviate to other beliefs and forgetting TRUE creator. Poverty, Heath and other issues make anyone to quickly disbelieve CREATOR Allah. There is a hadeeth Prophet warned that poverty almost leads to disbelief. May Allah reward you.

If you seriously seek the truth, insyaallah God will guide you to the truth.

From my own experience, now I understood sometimes what we want to have right now like literally now, when we pray to Allah to give it (good things) to us now, sometimes we don't get what we want. I used to think Allah didn't listen to my pray or Allah didn't want to give it to me. Believe me, sometimes Allah postpones to give what you want to you because it's best if you have it a later on. And on the journey to have it you will get bonus in your life that will make you happier later on. Sometimes it took days, sometime sit took years. But now I know Allah always gives us good things that we want just at the right time.

Jesus said if you look with lust to a woman (as a man) you have committed adultery in your heart. And if you swear at someone you have already broken the 6th commandment (don't kill). Are you? Worry about yourself first. No body going to help you on the day of the resurrection; except your deeds and your faith in Allah. We all enter the Heaven with Allah's mercy but if you don't believe in Him, why would you be expecting His mercy and reward in hereafter? May Allah guide you and protect us from hellfire.
