Been using a Razer phone... MK 1... :D ..For nearly a year. Some points: Its bigger than my laptop. Its louder than the music played in my local pub. It doubles as a shield if you end up in some medieval war zone. By bigger trousers than normal, so the phone can fit in your pocket. Buy a belt for said trousers, as you will soon find them around your ankles due to the weight of the phone pulling them down. People think the Earth is flat... They just don't realize we are living on top of the razer phone. My first ever camera phone was a Motorola E365. That phone is nearly 20 years old. It had a better camera than my razer phone. It came in probably the sexiest box a phone could ever come in. I work in construction... and sometimes, I mistake this phone for a brick, patio slab, roof tile.... but on the plus side, if it rains, its so big I can work nderneath it and not worry about getting wet. The battery is pretty good. I find it tidy for playing a few games on. The official phone case for the Razer is... pants. Did I mention its loud? It gets warm with extended 'gaming/viewing' sessions. The phone is unique. Its an Android phone. I dont know anyone else who has this phone. I payed a daft amount of money for the phone. And since I payed so much for it... its the 'best' phone ever... (I keep telling myself this, and wont buy a new phone until this one dies, as I certainly wont lose it, because its to big) And now they've gone made a Mk 2 version? That is toilet proof..? I think they mean, if you drop it down the toilet, it'll just break the toilet pan.

I actually like the Aesthetic of both Razer Phones a LOT.

The phones got those bezels probably because when your playing games you don't want to accidentally keep clicking on stuff when your just trying to hold the phone.

While I am highly unlikely to buy this phone and have not touched or seen one in real life so based on what I have seen I think some of your comments may be a bit harsh. Personally, I would always prefer a 16:9 ratio phone over any of these new taller/wider (depending on how you hold it) ratios. Basically, all content at the moment comes in that ratio as you pointed out so viewing them you will either get black bars on the side or it is stretched. As for bezels, I would choose one with them too over one without them as they give you something to hold on to especially while gaming or watching something. while hard points are not ideal for pockets and holding I would sooner that if it meant you didn't lose screen real estate to round off the corners. That it doesn't have a notch is a great thing too. To me the biggest shortcomings of this is that the batter is still not exactly huge which is going to limit how much time you could game on it. I would hope that these gaming phones would have 5ah batteries in them at least.

Hey Linus, I love the video and all, and I dont mind when reviewers add a skin to the phone in a couple of shots through the video. BUT REALLY, we couldnt see the back side of the phone without a skin in the whole video, thats kind of disappointing.

Well, it's just my opinion, but bezel-less phones are a pain in the ass when it comes to gaming. You need some bezel so than you can grab your phone strong enough.

My phone is a emulation and media consumption device. Give me great speakers and a sharp display, I couldn't give two hoots about the camera.

It may not be worth the efffort when it comes to performance but i know for a fact that there are many people that prefer the larger bezals, i wont touch the screen with my palm when reaching to the top corner and it allows more hold for cases. The speakers are also cool cause there large, they can pump higher sound flow and as for the cornered edges, in my eyes at least it looks like a phone should, right angles like a screen or monitor and almost all videos on the internet and 3rd party apps designed for multiple devices are build with right angle renders it just seems more usefull to the trends of the rest of the world. And as for the poking into your palm? Since when would you push hard enough for that to hurt? The touch id is ok as is, you’ll learn its placement after using the phone for a while and if anything a case would help you locate it. Not tryna challenge linus but just want to point how some of these doubts can be good especially for an interested party.

I like 16:9. It doesbt crop youtube videos weirdly and is more comfortable to use when holding it sideways.

I love my original razer phone. I hope they never change the boxy shape and the big bezels. It's most of the reason i bought it. I DON'T want a rounded phone. My favorite phone before this was my Sony Xperia Z5. Which has almost exactly the same shape.

Block design is just sooo much better than the round edges from samsung etc. I absolutely hate those.

You need a bezel on a gaming phone (or any phone really) so you have something to hang onto. If there's no bezel then your hands get in the way and it's a lot less comfortable to use. It's another reason I like to use larger phone protectors or cases.

One complaint is that you really need to have bezels on a "gaming" phone or any other portable gaming screens. You also need it to be more rectangular than usual. The samsung phones curvy edges and ridiculously beveled corners just doesn't work on emulators and the notch is another issue entirely. But they could have used the sony model that looks less box-y. At this point I woudn't buy any gaming phone until sony releases xperia play 2 with the sliding D-pad. Also full screen to body ratio is trash and for gimmick lovers. You can't hold those slippery pos for anything.

Razer phone has some failures for sure, but its main ace is the screen. 1440p at 16:9. It has more ppi than the rog if I'm correct. As for bezels, it doesn't matter, do you ever notice bezels when gaming or using a phone? Only if it's a notch. Otherwise no. The only real issue with the bezels is while typing in horizontal mode, you stretch your thumbs out more. It's cameras, I'm not a camera nerd, but one thing I do know is a good photographer doesn't need a super camera, he does need to be able to adjust settings which this phone can't do. Maybe with camera software you could do that but I dunno, . But for regular pictures it's fine. I did download the Google pixl camera APK which gives you slow Mo so that's cool. Even cooler is when playing at normal speed it's at like 120 Hz which you can see! Only issue is it lags depending on your settings at times. As for the power button, you CAN tell where it is because the button is glossy compared to the matte frame, you will feel the difference in grip. As for performance, you can check linus' video. Ergonomics, well actually you get used to it. At first it feels loose but I think what happens is you subconciously make your hands stronger or something and you legit get used to it. As for case compatibility, I don't use a case, so I don't know. Btw I got the first one, the sides of the phone is still metal in the two I think. Razer phone does have quite a few issues, but bringing up things that aren't actually issues just pisses me off. REEEEEEEE

I dont think the Bezels are that much of a problem because they are actually used for speakers that sound phenomenal and its cimfortable to rest your fingers on them. 16:9 is also better for me because i watch most videos in this format. There are only 3 problems: camera, headphone jack and price. But even at this price you don' get anything that much better. You can trade great speakers and 120Hz for a good camera and a notch. Don't understand why everyone is bashing it so much... Just depends on your priorities and believe me: there are actually people that don't care about the camera that much.

my razer phone 2 just arrived in the mail today, bought it because my friend has a ROG phone 2, the speakers and the 120hz refresh rate are the best things about it.

Ok so i have the razer phone one currently and these are my thoughts 1.having a 16x9 aspect is better than 18x9 (ive had the note 9 and the stupid aspect ratio was the most annoying thing about the phone while doing anything) 2. The ergonomics of the phone are better than any new phone out there. The square body allows you to grip the phone MUCH better than anything Samsung or LG has. 3. The screen to body ratio has no overall effect on the phone. Its better to have a larger bezel in my opinion for holding the phone. 4.the only downside ive noticed about the razer phone one is NO HEADPHONE JACK, WHY, and the screen isent very bright. The screen brightness was addressed in the new one though

You know what would make me buy that Razer phone? the fact that it's square looking, very square much. I kind of like that matted, boxy, rectangular look, otherwise all these way too rounded and glossy plastic looking things are saturated for me and my feel of technology, it's been basically since beginning of smartphones. Razer can easily make it iconic slick shape, they made a laptop in the same shape type, square edges, straight simple lines, they have that boxy look of it, and I dig it, not these rounded and bevel edged and glossy plastic looking style. But it needs to be better (for the title of having "gaming" phone), otherwise...I would be fine anyway, I just don't need that stereo system, I just want a cool looking phone that does its job, has great capacity not just for OS and basic programs, but so that I can install at least bunch of others, and removable memory, and enough battery, and great camera. Of course the basic calling function and a watch, etc. Everything else can be thrown out for cots reduction.

The bezels are fine lmao you barely notice them when you just use the phone. I also like my phone to be heavy and the boxy design is also actually quite nice.

I rather like the rectangular design of it. I much prefer clean designs like that rather than the overly curvy phones that won't even rest flat on a table, will rock side to side for 15 minutes if you nudge them, slice off and round the corners of the display for literally no reason other than being artsy farty etc. I'd rather have that razor phone's design than a iphone for the same reason I'd go with a thinkpad over a macbook.

I like the rectangular aspect of the phone. I like how it sticks out compared to other phones out on 2018. It’s different. Every phone is rounded. Every phone has a notch. Every other phone is eh. But razer. Mmmm me gusta mucho.

oneplus 6 performed better than razer phone almost everywhere lol. and it costs less too and is a much well rounded phone in comparison. If you want to spend that much money, why not consider iphone xr as its processor is still a generation ahead of snapdragon 845 lol. based on the benchmarks the 845 phones are not pushing even 90fps anyways.

But the real question is: How much of your time do you want to spend without RTX?!?!
