Lou, N2TU talks about your HF station and getting all you can from it, including, starting with the chair. Lou is a very well known DXer and has also been on many DXpeditions.
Mike and Lou, I totally agree with you on Flex. After much research I determined for HF Flex offers much more capabilities than you can get from other HF radios.
Checked my two 75' runs of coax with 5 watts to a meter and dummy load at the tower. Was getting two watts on the meter. Upgraded to LMR-400 and now 5 watts (likely 4.9 or 4.8 watts) at the meter. And yes the old coax SWR on the coax was flat across the band LOL.
Peter. That was precisely the point of mentioning the guys/ gals should check their stations NOW...and not wait for the 3Y to begin. Great feedback! Thanks...
I purchased a FlexRadio 6600 and I love it. But my experience with SmartLink is that it’s not “Smart”. I have had Apple Home for years which allows me to remotely control my home lights and door locks, I have ring doorbell bell which allows my to answer the door bell remotely and even have a video conversation with someone at my front door while I’m anywhere in the world as long as I have internet access. And I have never turned on universal plug and play or port forwarding in my router, a practice which is very insecure. My cheap $100 ring doorbell has better more secure access then my $3600 Flexradio 6600. I did create the manual port forward and got the Smartlink to work, but please setup Smartlink to work remotely like many other software without having to open ports in my router.
The reason we have to use uPNP is to reduce latency. For your door bell, etc, all your data goes to an external server pushed there by the doorbell. For the radio, we can't have servers in the middle as that will significantly slow down the communications between end user in the radio. By having secure ports forwarded to the radio, it allows the end user to connect directly to the radio resulting in the best performance.
I am not sure how this applies to this video. :) Please open a support ticket and they will respond within hours. helpdesk.flexradio.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
