I heard that on the M32 gearbox (the GM one, that are used in FIats, Alfas, Lancias,...), because of the 6th gear bearing issues, after pouring in new oil that addiational 0.5L of oil should be added throght some top plug.
Hi i just buy my 2005 Alfa Romeo 156 1.9jtd 110kw crosswagon Q4 6 speed manual. Is it the same as you have? And how do you change the front and rear differential oil many thanks
Hi Bruno, great videos, thank you. I'm working on my son's 159 2.4jtdm - clutch replacement, which seems to work silently now, but...we have no 1st or 2nd gear. I did unbolt and lift the selector tower thinking it may need to come out to get the clearance under the frame, but did not remove it in the end. Have I inadvertently disengaged a selector fork or something? We also changed the oil, but refilled with mineral ATF III (2.6L?). Do you recommend the 75w-90 in this gearbox also? thanks again.
@@alfaromeonoproblem thanks for the rapid reply! We also have ATF leaking out of the driveshaft - are these seals a standard item? PS - we are serial Alfa offenders, 2 x Alfetta ('79 & '82), '91 75TS, Stelvio QV, and a ring-in '94 Maser Ghibli II. I'm a slow learner.
@grantpiper6358 hello. The seal are special for that. They are very difficult to replace, so be patient. Buy original or OEM only. Nice collection by the way
@@alfaromeonoproblem thanks, we did that and found all OK - it is an elegant selector fork system. We found it was the black adjustable end of one selector cable. We had retracted the end sometime, and once we moved it out one detent 1-2 gears were able to be engaged.
Hi Bruno. From your videos i got the courage to do my own clutch replacement on my 147 1.9jtd 8v 5speed. All went well and the new reinforced clutch is on. However the biting point is very low and 1st and reverse go in very hard. I put in only 1.6l of gearbox oil as I read in some forums. Could that be the issue? Should I put more? From what i saw it was on the half of the dipstick but it might have been from the angle of the car and the pouring. The slave cylinder was bled pretty well however is it possible there is still air? I wanted to replace it but as you mention in your videos its like welded. Any advice will be much appreciated
Hello. The gear has to have 2.0 to 2.1 liters of 75w80 sinthetic oil. No exceptions. But that is not the reason why you have that symptom. If the cylinders are properly bled, the reason why is that clutch set.
@@alfaromeonoproblem Thanks for the reply. I will put in some more oil. We bled it with a friend. I pumped the pedal, then hold, he bleads, I pump, hold, he bleads. We dont have a presurisibg tool. Around 500ml of fluid like that. The clutch is my old valeo set just with new reinforced friction pads.
I think I have a leak from the gasket of the gearbox; I had the car wheels aligned and checked underneath and it was leaking, around the connection between the two metal parts it was wet and grimy.
Hello. Very very common on the C510 based gearboxes. It's really their only problem. My 155 has one of those and is fixed by me a few years ago. Maybe one day I'll open it again, 3rd is popping off
Is this on a diesel version? I have a Gt 1.9 jtd, and I considering gearbox oil change in near future, so I read somewhere the oil should be 75-90, but I see you put 75-80.
Hello. Yes, mine is a diesel. Consider the climate in your country, the oil may be different just like the engine oil. I have a official chart and it says tutela technix witch was a 75w80 synthetic and now is a 75w85. At least here in Portugal
Hello. Dipstick is near the high pressure fuel pump. Literally bolted to the pump bracket. The gearbox is a good c530 yes, with the torsen differential.
@@alfaromeonoproblem I think i found it. It was near the Slave Cylinder. My gearbox is a little Bit noisy at 50kmh in 3rd and 4th gear. It is a whine Sound. Is it normal? Also the second gear is noisy at full acceleration, i heard this sound at other 147 Q2. Maybe it is also normal? Last thing… At low temperature’s under 5 degree shifting in first and second gear is a pain, they are very hard to shift. Are these common issues?
The second gear whine is very normal and it may do a bit less on more other gears. I recommend new gear oil and a fresh fluid on the master slave clutch cylinders.
My workshop recommended MANNOL Basic Plus 75W-90 GL-4+. It has the specification API GL-4 PLUS as shown in my car manual. Do you think I can use it or 75W80 instead? Originally 75w85 should be filled in, says Alfa Elearn... I'm confused ☺ And I have another question, I think my gearbox has one filling screw and one drain plug. Should I use the dripstick or the filling screw to fill in the new gearbox oil? I think it won't matter, right?
