@@deklin.14.official39 guess it’s just my preference. I love Mercedes’s voice with a burning passion but I’m a big Broadway lover. So I’ve always loved Rachel.

There is no denying Rachel's performance was good, very good But as a Show-Choir performance? On something they would be graded on?.. Something that would need chorography to win? It just didn't have what it needed. Ironically the performance that got the most flack for being flat was consequently the only performance that could have reworked with very little effort into being a great Show- Choir performance came from Mercedes. One can easily see how It would have taken very little effort with a good choreographer to make it a winner.

@@dorothyvanbrocklin2424 dancing isn't really needed though. Take santana for an example, her performance had absolutely no dancing but she had movement. That's what mercedes needs. Mercedes performance gave no emotion, no movement, nothing special. If they're going against vocal adrenaline, a group that focuses so much on dancing when the new directions don't, they're going to have to use emotion which rachel brought. Rachel didn't move much each other but that's because she didn't have to. The song she chose and the emotion she brought with it make moving around or dancing unnecessary. Mercedes performance wasn't bad but it was by far the weakest out of the four (well Kurt's might be the weakest actually). The song was nothing special and neither was her delivery. She obviously has a great voice but rachel definitely has a voice made for show choir and broadway which Is what most judges are probably looking for at a show choir competition. There is no way they would've won with that song even if they added choreography.

I get that this is a comedy and fiction and a fiction that made repeated fun of The Show Choir Rules and/or guide book but The Rules DO specifically call out for choreographed numbers. The main criteria for judgment is Vocal ability, Coordinated Movement and Stage Presence failure one of these things is what I'm talking about with Rachel's performance she is an exceptional singer she has stage presence but what she did not have any movement in her performance neither did Mercedes But again I will state again Mercedes performance was one that could be choreographed whereas Rachel's could not be....I am more than laughing at the other stuff you bright up I didn't need addressing

Rachel performed it's all coming back to me by celine dion, right? If I remember correctly she barely moved. She performed that at nationals and they won. Looking at her my man performance she wasn't walking around the stage like santana but she wasn't completely still. In both performances she included minimal movement because the songs didn't need any choreo or moving around the stage. Her emotion was her movement. Mercedes performance didn't include emotion that would move the judges/audience. Her performance would've heavily improved if she moved more based on the song she chose to sing. My initial comment was just me saying that I thought Rachel's performance was the best. You are allowed to think differently. Relax lmao.

And If you were so desperate to want Rachel to be the one in New York singing and dancing and giving stage presences then give her a song that works is basically all you need to fix the problem that My Man cannot fix if it wanted to I am a Kurt stan and he is the only one who actually moved. While I didn't agree with Jessy I did agree it was a wrong choice. I say this because this not me hating on Rachel or liking another more. It is only the choice of song. Santana bearly moved had some of the same issues Can one choreograph a number to it? You would have better luck than My Man but still no. This leaves Mercedes with an upbeat number that more people could dance to. You asked the question "Is it real" although you pointed it at me with distain I will still answer. Up above you will find I said it was fiction I said the fictional show makes jokes about itself not understanding what a Show Choir is or what the rules are. But it happens I do. It happens having chorography is a rule. If the Glee writers wanted this to be a Choir Competition and not a Show Choir then and only then you would have your argument. As it happens the show makes called The New Directions a Show Choir and in doing so gave itself a parameter it has to occupy itself in.

Jesse was blunt spoke truth the same way Santana gets praised for. Santana was good but not that emotional, Kurt relies on flash and Mercedes for that song could use some movement and she admitted she didn't practice. Rachel's song was all about emotion and she brought that.

@@GA-fn8hr I mean Mercedes at least tries to do something different and out of her comfort zone, I agree with what Jesse told her. But Rachel always do the same too, she can’t dance for saving her life, we never see her dancing or smt new.

@@enriquev1271 I don't agree Rachel tries different genres all the time and does add movement if it fits the song. She learns whole song books of artists. Such an exaggerations Rachel isn't a natural dancer but she can dance ok and seemingly get the choro easily enough. Movement might fit Mercedes song more then Rachels. Plus she didn't practice so Jesse had a point

@@enriquev1271 Rachel is a singer, she's not a dancer. Her dream is Broadway, that's exactly the song she chose. She said it herself,this was the hardest song she ever sang. So she definitely came out of her comfort zone

@@anaivanic7303 Rachel was still good enough dance wise for what is needed for many shows. No she won't be the lead in anything goes which is TAP heavy but she can do a lot of what is needed. I think Enrique is conflating simple choreography with full blown dances. Jesse was not asking Mercedes for a dance number just more movement like Santana.

He doesn’t really have to like her character great singer but her character isn’t great

@@tanaywilson2181 It is just frustrating that he has tried so hard to understand the motivation of every other character except Rachel. Santana for example. That character is genuinely awful and just bullies everyone. But we learn through the course of the show that she acts out and bullies people as a coping mechanism to deal with her insecurities about her sexuality. It doesn’t make it right that she bullies people, but we understand why she does it and it makes us feel for her. It’s the exact same with Rachel. She was bullied relentlessly by her peers because she has always had big dreams so she acts out and is a diva because she’s trying to prove all of those people wrong. It doesn’t make it right that she acts that way, but as the audience we understand she only does it because she feels like even her “friends” don’t fully support her and her dreams. So of course, everyone is allowed their own opinion on a specific character, but it’s so frustrating to watch him react and just consistently crap on Rachel and not attempt to understand why she is the way that she is when he has done such a good job at diving deep into other characters motivations for their terrible behavior.

The original was (and probably still is) my favorite movie. I know a lot of people say it's creepy and yes, I agree, but it's creepy in the best way possible and it makes me so happy inside

At this point in the show Shue had not picked Rachel for a solo in competition yet. Sectionals she only got the solo when she saved the club and Mercedes was not prepared with another song, the next solo in competition went to Santana and then Rachel earned her solo at Regionals for writing a original song which the group agreed to do. In the end he didn't pick Rachel here either. So nothing was rigged when Shue had the final say.

well, I think Rachel must have had given him feedback of them since before... Jesse already knew what was coming, that's why he was disrespectful towards Santana's audition by not paying attention (triggering Santana), he did as well knew Kurt would do something "controversial", and he knew pretty well Mercedes could SANG, even better than Rachel, but was not that much of a performer, so he wouldn't dare saying anything bad about her voice, but the lack of dancing even tho that number doesn't really require that much dancing)... he was definitely ready to bitch about the performances...

@@andreadh7913 Jesse was in glee with them the year before he didn't need notes from Rachel. Jesse was ready to bitch about the performance because that is how he was taught in VA and even his UCLA class.

@@andreadh7913 lol they would've showed or told us if she had done that. He was a part of the New Directions in season 1 and has watched them performed. I get people have preferences and like/dislike some characters, but some of y'all be doing too much and grasp at straws in order to hate Rachel lmaooo

The show or the glee song? If you're talking about the song could be a while before he gets to season 4
