Liz Cheney focused all of her time, energy, and attention on one single issue, whereas the constituents she was supposed to be representing had many other issues they wanted her to be spending time, energy, and attention on. She cared more for her own single obsession than the needs of the voting public of Wyoming. That is why she got the boot. As a Wyoming resident, I say: Good riddance!

Back in the late 1970's, a Yellowstone Park ranger told our family they appreciate getting bear sighting reports as the average tourist gets really stupid around bears, and it gives the NP service a chance to relocate the bear(s) away from people. Back in the 1960's, my mom remembered washing dishes in a small tub at a campground picnic table. Finished with washing, she picked up the tub and turned around to walk to where she would dump the wash water. But instead, she immediately encountered a bear that had been watching her. She threw the water in the bears face and vividly remembered the moment when you aren't sure how they are going to react. Thankfully, the bear just wandered off. In the late 1990's, I stayed for most of a week in a Sequoia/King's Canyon NP campground. Every campsite had a bolted to a small concrete pad heavy steel 'bear box' for you to put your food + coolers into. The day I left was dark and early in the morning (before sunrise). While packing, I did my best to be quiet, yet even so could see people looking through the windows of their RV's, interior lights on. I'm pretty sure they were half-expecting to see a bear outside.

That’s a good question as the way they count grizzlies has been controversial. Up until recently any female grizzly with cubs spotted within 30 kilometers of a data point where a grizzly sow with cubs had previously been spotted was considered the same grizzly sow and not counted. That criteria has now been reduced to 16 kilometers which has resulted in much larger estimate of the grizzly population. Frank van Manen, the team leader of the Interagency Grizzly Bear Study Team which calculates the population, said they were using a less conservative method to count the bears. “It was a recovering population that we didn't want to overestimate, so by design, we ended up underestimating the population.”

@mpirron1 Your suggestion has worked just fine in the past. Indigenous North Americans (Indians) hunted the only species of horse found on the continent into extinction because they were easy prey. Nobody ever missed horses until the inventors of the wheel (Europeans) reintroduced them to North America.

@@kaipos8601 Yes, and pythons often win the battle. But both need to go. At least all pythons need to go since they aren't native, and alligators should be relegated to various preserves instead of any body of water they choose. They may be removed if too close to humans (like in your backyard pond), but this wouldn't be an issue if they weren't allowed to grossly overpopulate and spread everywhere. Some are even showing up in salt water, where people thought it was safe. It's gone too far. A young boy was killed at Disney World because of an alligator in the water on the Disney grounds.
