To everyone criticizing her accent, you’re being extra critical because you know she’s not British. The first time I heard the guy who played Spike on Buffy speak in an American accent, I thought it was SO bad. Turns out he is American and it was the British accent I was used to that was fake.
Why is everyone acting like she was'nt cruella Divil. She had an accent then as well. The accent here is "weird" because of the tones of the character and purpose for the outragious. Wat h the movie. Her accent is very much a directors choice.
For those that don’t know, the character Bella Baxter (this isn’t really spoiler as it’s said in the beginning of the movie but I guess mild spoiler) is a baby’s brain in the body of an adult woman. In the beginning of the movie she can barely say words, so if you think she sounds weird she’s supposed to lol
If what you say is an accurate portrayal of the plot. This is actually awful. Shame on who ever made this and I'm honestly disappointed I'm Emma for acting in it.
I read an interview emma gave talking about how her and the director sat down together and went over how the 2 12 y.o boys in this film would react realistically to watching her having sex in front of them, so the movie would be more realistic. Once the film started getting backlash i can no longer find the interview, its been scrubbed from the internet. How this shit gets made i have no idea. Its demonic. @@Whysoshort
People complaining about her accent are forgetting that this character is literally a baby’s brain in its mother’s body and she was raised in confinement in an apocalyptic “England”. Also her accent is fine lmfao. Brits think they’re so good at American accents but most Americans can tell 90% of the time.
Everyone complaining about her accent ITS THE WAY HER CHARACTER SPEAKS its called acting jeez, she's literally been directed and to speak this way for the role
Only thing i can say about this scene is she didn't try to manipulate her. She was straight and to the point. And only willing to help. What is the name of this show/movie?
Ty cos I swear the others complaining about her accent n that (at least the op of the comments thread anyway) are bots because it's word for word, and they do not answer the tile of the film, obviously negative comments get you more views than posative ones lol
I've never read the book or seen the film but I've seen a few of these shorts and one of the comments in the thread explained the premise... I was also disgusted. What disgusts me even more is that people awarded and decorated this story so much.
Is this the one where a baby’s conscious is put in the body of an adult and the whole movie is about a toddler/child having sex - and apparently prostituting themselves?
@@ichiban6004 yeah… not into movies that move the goalpost for making child pornography and pedophilia socially acceptable. Nor am I into movies where sex is theme.
It is sad that she got an Oscar particularly from this movie full of nude scenes. She did so much great work besides this project , but they decided that she was "Oscar-worthy" in this half-porn movie.
@@xdeliasfyhow about you? Are you mad because they’re right? People just make porn now and days and call it a “movie” because small minded people like you can’t watch the tv for more than 5 minutes if you don’t have naked women to look at ?
It was one of her greatest roles, no it's not for everyone, but she acted her ass off in it and it's one of the best performances I've ever seen. Yeah she was nude a lot but if you pay attention the nude scenes were not depicted as sexy... Emma Stone had a huge say in what those scenes depicted and how they depicted it. There's some themes in the movie that's hard for me personally to get behind, it doesn't change my opinion of Emma's acting though.
The house gets a third of her hard earned wages? (Sorry about the phrasing). What a rip off! Though I suppose it will be more agreeable than conducting business in an alleyway.
Keep in mind, at least in the case for registered legal clubs, the club is responsible for paying the insurance, the power, the internet, the protection (legal and sexual), the water, the basic needs (soap, toilet paper etc), many places even supply food for the workers. The only thing the workers are expected to provide for themselves is their own clothes, shoes, make-up and food. If you have a problem in the room with a client the clubs manager takes care of it. Not to mention you're also benefiting from the club getting the work for you, they get the clients in and deal with all the marketing needs, you just show up, make money and go home. Wanna make 100% of the income, put in 100% of everything and pay 100% of the expenses. If you did run it all yourself and pay all the expenses yourself you'd find you're only walking away with about 2 thirds of what you made anyways. You don't these clients coming to your home because that's unsafe, so use a venue and benefit from what they provide you. Or you could just pay for a hotel room yourself for the night and see how much you come out on top after expenses.
@@paigeknight5844 jeez, are you a pimp??! i can tell you independent workers come far out on top compared to brothel work. these days brothels expect workers to do a bunch of promotion themselves, supply f all, and do very little 'protection' (they've never done that though).
@@trishna_6815 No, just someone who has an understanding and insight to the brothels in my state. Not sure where the ones you speak of are located but that is not the case in my country and state. The laws differ depending on where and where I am is rather fortunate. There is so much protection for the workers.
@paigeknight5844 so not a worker. Brothels are entirely unnecessary in a fully decriminalised system. They become almost non-existent, eg new zealand (which isn't quite fully decrim, migeants still at risk, hence there are still are few brothels left. Less than 50, down from over 500 pre-decrim). Because they offer nothing of value to the worker. Standard brothel rate in Australia is $240/hr, worker get half, plus if she can manage to get client to pay for extras (some brothels limit what worker can charge as extra). Current average private rate in Australia is $500/hr. And you don't have to stay for a whole shift, mostly doing f-all. The brothel is not providing anywhere near $360/hour worth of benefit to the worker. Clients are also much worse.
Omg! I love the way the older lady speaks!! Her accent, and the way it kinda cracks lol what accent is that? She looks like she’d be a fun friend lol She’s like “We have rooms. Are you looking for Work?” And as she says work, her voice cracks
I belong to the minority who hated this movie... The cinematography and the costumes were very good, but the plot was horrible and the acting was cringy at times.
That’s how I felt about another Emma Stone the film, “The Favourite.” I simply couldn’t believe such a terrible and boring film won a bunch of awards and that the lead actor (Olivia Colman)actually won an Oscar for it.
I first thought it was the actress playing Bathilda Bagshot! :) Hazel Douglas was her name (had to look it up! RIP). But it's Mrs. Arabella Fig , Kathryn Hunter.
What movie is this, please? Its all over my recommendations. Last week it was "why women kill". Now its this one. Can someone help me out please? Im quite intrigued 😅
Considering she was cast to play a half-Asian, I’d say not nailing down a proper British accent is not that big of an infraction -especially considering her character had a brain transplant and had to re-learn everything including talking.
As an Englishman; She doesn't sound English, but it's not the worst accent attempt I've heard. She's close, but it's still a little off in places and still sounds like an American trying to sound English.
As a sex worker i love the non judgemental way of handling rhis subject. Some women dont have a " choice" about sex work but the circumstances around her deceiding to engage in this work was so refreshing. No shame, just practical. Women didnt make the rules that money is needed for survival. People will let you starve in the snow, yet judge you by how you aquire the means to feed yourself. Its very strange in my opinion
What's really hilarious is that anyone thinks their opinions on her accent actually matter. Also, this film is an exquisite enigma (another opinion that doesn't matter)
