Thanks, this really helps me a lot. I'm always confusing amount of time with quality.... now I know that some time I'm just doing an amount of time!!! Thanks...

Thank you for sharing your advice, and I agree regularity is very important. I wake up very early and make time to practice every morning and every evening before going to bed, even if just for a few minutes. So if the day gets hectic and I can’t seat down on the cello for ‘regular’ practice, i can still get some work done (either sound production, learning a few more bars, or practicing a tricky passage). Like Billy says, a lot can still be done in focused time. Please keep doing these Vlog, it is delightful to see a bit of your life and discover great spots 😃

Thank you for sharing your experience with us! It was very cozy to hear the answers while drinking a coffee, I was drinking one myself and just felt like a calming inspiring coffee chat with you! I discover your chanel short ago and, although my instrument is actually piano, I truly love your videos and consider seriously starting cello too. I've learnt so much so far by listening to your experience and tips! Thanks a lot again and much love from Spain!

Thanks for sharing Billy, I’ve recently returned to cello after 22 years and am at the 1 hour a day phase. Intonation is my struggle at the moment, I rembr what you said in a past video: don’t give up. And Practice!

Hello, I have a good trick to train your ear for intonation. It’s when you play a scale with a droning note. There is a video made by a professional cellist that goes more into detail.

Hey, Billy. Your issue with 10,000 hours is analogous to what people in running call “junk miles”. Aka running to log miles not to improve. Thanks for the reminder about the importance of consistency. Another thing cello has in common with endurance sports!

Ojai? That's where the Bionic Woman lived.😂 If I practice more than an hour (I'm 51) it's WAY too much! My hiney falls asleep, my arms turn to jelly and my mind goes numb...not good. Two weeks ago I took off the tapes that I had for ... 9 months! yeah, I know, I know. Now it's like starting all over, because I sound terrible!🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm using a tuner, and things are getting better, but I thought I'd have muscle memory by now.🤷🏻‍♀️ Good thing I'm in this for the long haul. 😂 I can't wait to hear the new cello!♥️
