I gotta say, I love my job. I'm 16, and already working as a car/diesel mechanic. I'm proud of myself and my work. One thing that I always try to do is leave the vehicle in better shape or cleaner than what a normal mechanic would do. Loved the video by the way!
"perks of having a motorbike, not having to wait on anyone's bullshit" Hahaha! This is literally me every day riding to and from work. Great vid Boris!
This video had me laughing, so true man, times are different and most people don't have any workmanship pride. Thanks for a good mic recommendation bruh!!
My parents recently got a now kitchen, and the dude who installed it left glue everywhere and installed like 3 damaged cabinet doors. So my parents filed a complaint and asked for a repair. When the dude finally came by he just dropped off new doors and said "good luck installing them" and left. You are definetly not the only one with this problem. Glad to see you back on the tubes✌️
working in the world of medicine, you really take into account the value of knowing what you're about to do before you show up. you don't show up hung over going "wait where do i cut?" to surgery. Most of us doctor people were yelled at so much in med school we learned to be organized and prepared from fear. Others of us are actual adults, and had real jobs before medicine, and we know that you show up ready to go no yelling required. I was *JUST* ranting about this recently. I feel you.
Oh wow, yeah... I'd hate my surgeon to not know what to operate on once I'm under LOL! Glad you understand where I'm coming from bud. Thanks for watching!
I basically took the foam wind cap off the Sena's boom mic and placed it onto the new mic and shoved it all into my left cheek pad and stuck the mic end out the side of the cheek pad. Not sure how else to explain it, but it's not much wind protection and seems to work pretty good.
I got ya brotha. I did basically the same thing but with a dead cat instead of foam. I'll give the foam a shot and if it doesn't work I'll chalk it up to AGV magic. My Arai Defiant is quiet until about 80 then it's LOUD in the mic. Thanks again.
Yeah, we have a bunch of Highways that are pretty straight and boring, but then again, we have some really nice twisty roads in other places ;) I've made some videos when we go to the mountains and nice turns.
Doh!!! 😫 leave it to Android to delete a word when one is trying to make a point about paying attention to detail... lol. Either way, good post BoRis. KCCO
Hey Boris, your mic sounds clean now. good job on the sound! sometimes people just don't know how to do their job and just need to change how they do it or change what they do completely. you got your head in the right place.
Glad that mic ended up working for you! I make things for a living, I love it, and I am super proud of the work I do. I know a lot of furniture makers, cabinet makers, machinists, metal fabricators, etc that do it because they love it and they do excellent work. Obviously there is probably a higher percentage of people that suck than are good, but I think this problem is compounded by the fact that the people looking to get work done or have something made tend to go with the cheapest option rather than the most skilled person that takes pride in their craft. If you're ever in the sf bay area looking for makers or skilled craftspeople, hit me up, I can refer you to some amazing people.
Thanks so much! You're right, there are some people that just love what they do and you can see it in the finish product. This was definitely NOT the case with the morons that worked on my kitchen lol! Thanks bud, I'll be sure to look you up if I'm ever in the Bay. :)
Nice to see you back Boris :D I don´t know how the apprenticeship is working in the US. But here in Germany you had to learn your favourite Job for 2-4 years and after that you are a real worker. Before that you are a pupil.
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance... so much knowledge in there to tackle nearly anything in life :P People in maintenance, repair, and service industries need to treat things as if they were there own and then some if they wish to avoid notoriety. Sounds and looks good btw!
Totally agree with your today's topic. What ever I can do on my car by myself I do. Or I can watch the mechanics working on my car. But usually they don't like it.
I try to do most of the work to my car/ bike myself or I let my friends who are master mechanics work on my rides. Never will I let another idiot work on my car and/or home.
I can relate. It has been my experience that only about 10 or 20 percent of people will do a truly good job. Out here, it gets even worse during an oil boom and the related labor shortage it creates. The old saying is true; good help is hard to find.
It most definitely is hard to find. I'm glad we have Yelp so that we can share our experiences, good or bad. You can bet that I reamed the body shop on Yelp after they got my car wrong after three weeks of attempts. Hahaha
Three years ago a company refurbished our house. Some of the guys thought, what they see is what they can use...so they used my expensive percussion drill and some other tools of mine. They even used my vacuum cleaner! It was messed up afterwards because of all the dust that I have to clean it like a motherflower! The "good" thing was, we did get a really good discount for using all my stuff xD
Well... I do my job as good as I can - or as my co-workers and bosses let me - do so. It's like: "ooooh... well - you did it well - but, yeah... make it the next time much muuuuuuch better or cheaper or both! Get it?!" - Some day you do it like the average workers - just do the work, don't think, don't make it efficient as possible. - Just do it and nothing "more". But you still get the message you did it too good for them - way too expensive for the sale or something. - Well - it's aweful and it is terrible. - And nowadays it is so bad with the jobs. When you try to get one - you didn't find any good ones. - And if you have already one - it sucks. - ... by the way - you new set up is really great. And try to get well again boris. I love your videos. :) Greetings from Austria.
Totally hear you Boris. It's the results of a throw away, cheap is king economy. New tail bag I see, nice. Drop a link to it, need a new one myself. Hope you get well soon.
Thanks for watching. Yes, it a small Ogio bag that I got from my girlfriend. It just happens to be labeled Metzeler but I'm sure you can find it anywhere. It's pretty much this bag, just different color and labeled Metzeler. www.cyclegear.com/accessories/ogio-super-mini-tanker-tank-bag?gclid=Cj0KEQjwioHIBRCes6nP56Ti1IsBEiQAxxb5G_7XOiwL3B4pQXt_MlKBiDZfkA2KEvf6OWpRhjQ0TRcaAjnc8P8HAQ
Bad mechanics are my pet hate! Learnt to do a lot myself because of them, but the things I can't do...so hard to find someone trustworthy! Think I'm finally there now tho 👌
what if you work in the creative field? depending how you feel will reflect the effort of work you put into your project. sometimes it cant be up to par to the rest of your work.
Well that is a whole other topic bud... Creativity is personal. You might love what you create while some will hate it. Different people will have different expectations, but in my opinion, repairing a car from being damaged is pretty universal. It's either fixed, or half assed LOL!
I was watching one of Shawn Smoaks vlogs& he does hundreds of blogs & he had really bad sound issues & apparently it was due to the latest firmware update he performed on his go pro. Come to Wales even more cowboy workers 👍😎
@0:44 lets be honest. U drove right behind him in the lane. And at the moment u want to overtake him he also wanted to switch lane. Respect to that Corvette dude to switch back and apologise. AND ACTUALLY DOUBLE CHECKING HIS MIRROR!!
hating your job has nothing to do with your work ethics. that's what people are forgetting now. professionalism separates you from the amateurs. that's why they are called "professionals"
you're welcome. i'll try to watch that later. it's 3 am here. just came home from work. i just want to add something. i'm a singer\musician. imagine us playing 5-7 gigs a day in a week. sometimes we go under the weather. sometimes broken bones from a motorcycle accident. do you think i ever went on a sick leave? i was singing and playing percussions with a broken collar and no one even noticed or knew it was broken except for my mates. not to mention 4 fractured ribs. that my friend is work ethics. when people rely on you, you better do your job and do it with the best of your ability without any excuses. once you show up for work.....always bring your A game. there is no one else to impress but yourself. having pride in what you do defines you no matter if your a gardener, janitor, farmer, entrepreneur, CEO, waiter, stripper. no man is less the respect when he is the best of what he does.... no matter what he does.
Very well said, Shaun. And you sir, are hardcore. Many people call out just because their head hurts, but you take it to a whole other level. Broken bones, meh... get to work! LOL!
I feel ya ! I work at a service department for deisel trucks and OMG ! these mechanics are savage! Even my supervisor gives me crap for taking a little time to get the jobs done right ! it is what it is though , gotta do what you gotta do ! I feel like the people who don't care about their jobs or pretty much anything they do are also the ones who drive really crappy ... and I feel that most of those people are here in L.A . lol
Thanks so much! Yes, that is a smaller Ogio bag that my GF got for me. It's meant to be a tank bag, but I use it as a tail bag, since my tank is aluminum and the small magnets don't holt against aluminum. The Dainese bag it pretty big and I use it when I need to carry slightly larger things, or my drone. The smaller bag is made by Ogio: www.amazon.com/Ogio-Super-Tanker-Outdoor-Moto-Street/dp/B0036GIDCM Bigger Dainese bag: www.amazon.com/Dainese-D-TAIL-MOTORCYCLE-BAG-W01/dp/B015WFE4GI/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1493305724&sr=1-1&keywords=dainese+D+tail+bag
Thanks for the info buddy. Have watched all your videos as it reminded me of the good times when I was based in North Island as an exchange pilot back in '10. Have a BMW RnineT Scrambler myself and loving it every bit.
HEY, at least I do my job properly while I go above and beyond to make sure that the level of detail that I do is better than the company's expectations. If a customer applied a number sticker on the product that is the slightest bit off centered, I take it off, clean the surface and apply a new sticker that is straight (On top of actually repairing their product and testing it to make sure it works proper) I might hate my job, but I still take pride in the job that I do. :P
Never did the thought cross my mind that you are anything less than a true professional sticker re-placer...UGH I mean repair technician. Love ya buddy.
I'm trying to get into carpentry (as a hobby) but I want to build a bike box and a giant chest of drawers which will be customised but I still want to get it right first go
Not sure bud. I started out on a Yamaha R1 as a beginner so I can't say yes or no. All depends how much self control you have and how careful you are. The nine T is low and has a nice low center of gravity so it may be, but then again, it is a 1200cc bike. Up to you really!
Yes, sadly I did spend the $50 and I was pretty upset when I also had to buy yet another mic! But it finally works and I can use it like I've been trying to use it since I got the damn thing lol!
Yeah man, I feel ya. I'll be making the same $50 purchase for the USB-C attachment and maybe the same mic too since it sounds pretty good based off your video. Enjoying the videos man, some good thoughts here, keep it up.
Yes sir! That is just a small Ogio tank bag actually. It's just labeled Metzeler. It's pretty much this bag. www.cyclegear.com/accessories/ogio-super-mini-tanker-tank-bag?gclid=Cj0KEQjwuZvIBRD-8Z6B2M2Sy68BEiQAtjYS3H3TCRQqp1IIqEghZlb6brF-CjNKdrJBIniIUoXO7zEaAtXZ8P8HAQ
good work isn't cheap, cheap work isn't good. at my job we've got too much work and not enough staff, so you tend to get things done, instead of looking at detail. most people don't have a job they're passionate about, because those usually don't pay enough, so they work in a field they're not interested in, which results in them caring less about their results. At least i guess that's one possible explanation.
That should be the case, but even when you pay the premium amount, some still manage to do a crap job. I mean, I highly dislike my job, but it is my job and I do my job above and beyond my work's standards. We get products back from our manufacturer with issues that I catch and that I fix because someone did a bad job. It's sad that many people do a job just good enough not to get fired.
WOW that is some monster traffic jam - how long does it take these people to get to work and home every day? I am becoming an expert traffic splitter now too since I got my Triumph T120 a month ago. Re: the work - my procedure when people do a bad job for me they don't get paid. They can take me to court if they want but nobody ever did as they know I was right. Doesn't happen much though as I have a circle of trusted and very skilled tradsmen / mechanics that I only use. Love attention to detail too and pride in one's work. My first job was washing cars in a garage but I did it so good I was working in the sales office within a few months.
2:40 Deadpool?? lol. Here in Argentina is the same (or worst... much worst), not evereyone, but mostly. I´m proud of my work, I always try to do my best and deliver on time. P.S.: The sound is good, perhaps equalizing it in post could inprove a little bit more. Or... try other place to put it and add a deadcat or something similar (just an idea). Greetings!
Good to be proud of your work man. Keep doing a great job and be proud! :) I have a small deadcat or a foam wind blocker thingy on the mic. I might try out a different placement. Thanks!
The place that worked on my kitchen, I have NO idea if they are even a company or just some random people that were picked up at the side of a Home Depot. The body shop place is called Caliber Collision. Don't ever go there for any car repairs.
boris i really need to ask about the gesture you were doing with your hand while overtaking someone (car or bikes),,,what is it done for? the question can be a bit awkward for you,,but in India we dont usually do it...thats why asking... :P
I'm thanking the cars that move out the way to let me lane split. People don't usually pay attention to motorcyclists, so when they do see me and make a little bit of room so that I may pass, I like to wave as a "thank you"
Somehow my technician fixes my car in one day every time... even after an accident. He probably charges me a lot, but I'm fine with giving a wizard my money. Also, that wide angle lens makes me feel like Boris is gonna die at any moment. Exciting!?
Hahaha! You DO get what you pay for! More you pay, the better the job should be! And don't worry... the camera makes it look much worse than it really is.
Hey Boris cool video. I personally think it has to do with the underpaid, overworked kind of thing. At least for the body shop because people want a good deal and the want it done fast. Or is that just me.
Hi, thank you. Might be that they are underpaid and rushed, but they had my car for a total of THREE weeks. Two different body shop locations. That is no excuse. People are just lazy and don't care.
Not only are they lousy at their work, my sister actually had her Rolex stolen from her locked bedroom (you could see their damn pry job on the door frame). They were confronted, and she got it back. The nerve of that "boss" guy after he got the watch back was that he blamed it on the co-worker, and asked for money, because he had to get it back from "the thief"/him. Jesus fuckin' Christ.
Oh wow! I would be FURIOUS if someone went into my room and stole anything, let alone a Rolex! I would have beat someone ass for sure, and I'd be damn proud of the beating I give them LOL!
Hahaha no. It was a free bag that my GF got from work. She has no use for it so she gave it to me. I buy all my Dainese stuff so if someone gives me something not Dainese, I'll use it for sure!
I personally unfortunately work in a supermarket until I get the motivation to study again. But jeez, I'd say at least 70% of the people that work here (I think we are getting close to about 180-200 people) doesn't do a proper job. It starts at the top, the manager, absolute lousy Fuck. Then the few line managers under him, one of them literally doesn't know his job. But in the end it's also that most people that work here full time simply aren't intelligent enough to do a better job even though it's mostly braindead stacking a shelf or something. It starts from the top and that doesn't exactly motivate anyone to do a good job when they're as lousy as they're. Doesn't really stimulate anyone to better them self's. And obviously there are a lot of young part timers that are just half assing the job before or after school. I really should start studying but I have no idea what. Welp that was my exiting life story from The Netherlands. Mic sounds good as far as I could tell.
Oh wow, I'm sorry to hear about your job, but then again, that sounds like most of the places here too. Some places have such useless people working there, not caring at all about anything. Just want to make money. And thanks man, appreciate you watching :)
Working in the fast food field, you probably should be proud of your work and be making the best freaking burger/taco/whatever you can! Make it look like the pictures in the Ads! LOL!
Lane splitting in the UK is legal but not advised, so many people change lanes in a split second just to edge forward a few cars and don't look properly. I suspect it's not that different in any Country with busy highways. Ride safe dude and watch out for those lane hopping drivers.
I have a couple friends in the UK and they say it's pretty much the same here as it is there with drivers. (apart from driving on the other side of the car and road) Many don't pay attention and make stupid decisions. You be careful as well, dodging those pesky car drivers.
People are getting paid less for these types of jobs so therefore you have a shittier worker. I think if people were paid more at work, the customer (you) could afford to pay more for the job, which then pays the company more and they pay the employees more, therefore raising the quality of worker.
@borisonbikes Nobody has pride in work or gives a fuck to. Customer service has pretty much vanished too. When you actually get good service it's such a shock you don't even know what to do.
