Great video I love this bait, you can do so much with it. I like to put a piece of foam in the open at the top, then a dab of super glue to close then put a nail weight below it's mouth. This is great for bedding bass, it drives them crazy. I also put my hook down to the second little line the one that is almost at the bottom. I use the smallest size alot, but the 110 size is the killer..putting some red on the bottom is the way to go .sorry for the long comment, just love this bait. My son just bought a Ranger 200hp, so I have drive 7 hours to get on it going next week ,it will be a father and son experience. Take care and enjoy!
I took one of those weights that look like a screw and twisted it into the BOTTOM of the Gilly (this makes sure your Gilly swims upright) because the weight is at the bottom of the Gilly. As long as it is on the bottom half of the Gilly then it should be fine. I have even screwed that weight in from the back side of the Gilly. Then I do the nose hook with the thing (don’t know what it is called) that you screw into the mouth. 🤷🏼♂️ The side hook is great but when you catch one fish with it, the hook rips the mouth and the hook goes completely through the whole Gilly. Basically the Gilly is crippled after catching one fish. BUT I will say that the Gilly is the future of fishing. It is an incredible lure and it is really fun to fish, especially in clear water.

@@BrianGaberFishing there is a round indentation right underneath the bottom lip. I either put it there or I come in through the back of the Gilly. Also make sure the weight is screwed in straight and not diagonal.
Great stuff! I’ve played with these for the last year and started doing the same thing you described. For me the easiest way to color them what’s the use the spike it pens. I’ve been able to actually put the dye where I want it instead of all over me or my boat. Keep the good videos coming
nice vid and tips, btw that is not the bluegill imitation model, that is a sunfish, they have another variation which is called "bluegill" and which is closer to what real life bluegill would be
Yes! The bass are slowly keying in on gills here as we move along in the season. It's been behind here in the north. While they eat them on the regular, they key on them in August and September.
@@BrianGaberFishing I have the 110 pumpkin seed and bluegill both high DEF colors, I’ve rig mine three different ways and I’m here in Baltimore Maryland and I’m on liberty and pretty boy and Lock Raven fishing ain’t been too good I mean I’m catching three or four fish a day but mainly if it wasn’t for the wacky worm or the shaky head or the Ned rig I wouldn’t be catching fish and I’m used to throwing big jigs swim baits I mean three years ago when I was fishing with Keitech worms paddle tails ribbed and smooth along with the worms along with the frogs that’s got the paddle tails like straight king and they look like a crawfish or a frog but for some reason I can’t get them to hook and I’ve done hook them everywhere you said started to nose with a hook keeper, I’ve only land at one fish and I’m thinking is the 110 too big for my area and I’ve had big blades they swallow big jerk baits why won’t they smashed is bluegills can you give me any tips
Also I bought about three packs of the agent E from Edwin Evers and they’re just like falling apart like Berkeley needs to step its game up with the quality of the bait if you have an Instagram page or something you can send I’m in a username to where I can get a hold you and send you some videos of me and nedrig I’ll smash some big ones this year all over 5 pounds a few three and four pounders I just bought a canoe how old Indian in Gilman river canoe I believe, and I try to match the colors mean but like I said to me they’ve been hitting the peanut butter and jelly worm in the crawfish but I know another bodies of water man are smashing them I just would like to know what’s further up north from Maryland besides PA that I could take a trip to on a weekend and catch some nice fish that I ain’t got to worry about struggling for six hours a catch three fish three quality fish, The rest is just like one pounders some big bluegill and crappy I’m honestly getting ready start fission for everything and just get me a gas motor and get out of these reservoirs and go try my luck in brackish water everywhere where is brackish water where largemouth are at their snakeheads and I wanna nope Theron probably about $40-$50 in chatter baits up because they turn my hooks up but they bend them out of control
@@kennyg3192 For sure. The plastic isn't very durable. I think they concentrate more on the scent and the plastic composition is just whatever it has to be to carry their scents.
@@kennyg3192 I hear you on the whacky rig and ned. You HAVE to do what you have to do to get fish in the boat. We have fish cribs here in Northern Wisconsin and the gills load up in them and the bass eat them like snacks. I've seen 6lb smallmouth eat an 5 inch bluegill near the cribs. I'm going to go to that lake and try to reproduce that with the gilly. I mainly use it once I've got a decent limit and trying to upgrade fast.
I have found that the dark colors green pumpkin and black/blue catch more bass than the 3D replica colors. I first bought the dark colors because that is what was in stock locally, but now that I have ordered and fished the realistic lighter colors, the dark colors still produce more for me for both clear or stained water, shallow or deep. I think it's the profile and undulating action more than matching the hatch. For the 110 Gilly I use a 3/0 springer side hook, usually with a 1/16th oz tungsten chin/belly weight but also side hooked weightless for a shallower side-swimming injured sunfish action.
I put a foam ear plug in the top cavity before I glued it shut. It makes the bait more bouyant... You get that bluegill injured near the surface action with it nose hooked.
anytime a fishmen says, "never seen" I just laugh. How in the hell do you know what the fish has seen. and they don't carry notebooks and write down the lures you hooked them on for memory recall. LOL.
