Jessie is absolutely right about French behaviors: I live near Paris and I remember an American neighbor who was really surprised that I go out to buy food daily in several different stores... At the time, I didn't know what to answer when he said that I was loosing my time (and he thought that it was a good example showing why people would be more productive in his country). But now I see that all the hours he thought he was saving were actually lost by his trying to stay fit whereas I have always been lean without doing any specific effort for that... About croissants, yes I like them and I am used to buying some, but not daily !!! Nobody here eats croissants daily ! This is the kind of food pleasures in our culture that we like to have maybe once a week : ask a baker what is the best day for selling croissants and he will tell you on the weekends, since then people enjoy having a special breakfast with their family or close friends... By the way, I had to teach my wife (which is not French) that we always must have meals together, that it is a very important rule here : my Dad was used to repeating every time someone wanted to eat alone : our house is not a kind of hotel ! Now I do the same with my daughters... And every one has to participate to the meal (one is dressing the table, another helps for cooking, a last one is cleaning after the meal). All meal must have an entrée, that is usually something raw ("crudité"). I guess this is how we can eat carbs and stay lean... Best regards from France, keep the great show running!
This is easily the best Dr G podcast yet. She is so well informed and good at relating the message in a way that anyone can understand. A delightful interview.
You guys make a very fun interview. You are both my idols. I have been with Dr. Gundry 8 years and I found Jessie a couple years ago and I thank you both for one (maybe top of my list) of my most rewarding days in my life. I am announcing to the world my first day off metformin. I have been diabetic for more than 40 years and if I had known years ago, what I have learned over the past 8 years it might have happened a lot sooner. But it has happened now. I am 85 and have left only one family member and a couple of friends -- only one diabetic -- so since I have nobody to tell, I thought I may as well tell everyone. I am so happy to see the two of you now, every timer I turn around. It really helps make my day. And I think I learn something new with each encounter. I am very grateful for everything I have gained just from having the two of you available to me. Thank you, thank you so very much. Jan Dullea
Amazing discussion! LOVED all the respect Dr. Gundry had for Jessie! It was such an enjoyable conversation with both people sharing and both people learning while allowing the listeners to see what it’s like for two intelligent people, dedicated to health, can approach their knowledge differently yet have so many common results!!! Truly wonderful!
What a great idea to have Jessie she is a brilliant humble enthusiast for her health and all of us live longer. Jessie come on again with Dr Gundry. This really better than LONG VIDEOS too long all the time. We are gratful for you both. Love is your answer to all your words. See you.....God bless your gifts
Point taken...I'm SICK of the 40-45 minute ads insisting that they're better than the mainstream media (and they generally are...) saying: buy OUR item. It's still the hypnotic, capitalistic model of advertising.
@@jimaureli6475Can you explain? I'm a new guy on a path to better my health and gut. I'm trying to learn from all sides here because I know the “one type method” doesn't work for everyone.
you both are just excellent.. People like you are still found in our villages , old souls discussing ancient wisdom with sound health even at the of eighty plus ❤❤❤❤
Thank you both. I learned so much even after being type 2 diabetic and doing a lot of research. Have been eating a savory breakfast for quite awhile without knowing it. I have breakfast between 9 and 11am. Dinner around 6pm which is vegetable for half the plate and lean chicken or grass fed beef. Starch recently changed to farro/bulgar/hemp seeds/flax ground, etc. and maybe a bite of dark chocolate with berries or half of an apple (granny smith). Hoping this leads to better health. Now starting to incorporate a 20-30 minute walk. Any comments?
I had diabetes 10 years ago, caught it early, it took me 3,5-4 months to reverse it, never came back after that. I check my blood every year, all diabetes markers in optimal range. I eat anything I want but of course now I understand that I can’t have huge amounts of carbs without resting and generally I don’t eat junk foods/processed etc. It’s all about the insulin. You must give it time to come down. I had 3 meals with no snacks in between. Then it became too much and I cut down to 2, then 1 meal a day as my body switched to burning fat. I wasn’t hungry at all, 1 meal a day was plenty. I excluded all fruit except for limes, lemons, avocados and green kiwi once a week as a dessert. Or raspberries 100g as dessert once a week. All drinks - soda, soft drinks, juices no matter if they’re fresh or not. I drank only water and herbal teas such as green tea, chamomile tea and peppermint tea. Apple cider vinegar, lemon water with mint. Rarely used stevia drops without alcohol when I felt like sweets.(first two weeks were tough!) I had no processed foods, no candy, no sweets, no breads, no pastas or anything made from flour. I had veggies and a protein with healthy fats. You have to add healthy fats! Don’t go for lean meats like chicken breast, it will make you hungry, it will be hard to sustain the diet especially in the first couple of weeks. I had organic grass fed butter, but no dairy. My sugars from food were minimal. I had 1-2 cubes of dark chocolate and almond milk which had some naturally occurring sugars. I did have potato a couple of times a week, usually baked then cooled down then warmed up again with butter. So, very simple - veggies on a plate + protein (meat, chicken, fish, eggs, etc). Maybe a bit of organic mayo, fermented veggies like kimchi or sauerkraut. Spices are ok to use. + I took supplements to make the cells sensitive to insulin again. I took berberine, zinc, magnesium. My insulin was pretty bad, despite my strict diet, I had no changes in weight or symptoms for first 6 weeks. My sleep improved around week 4, but that was pretty much it. I was about to give up, then saw Jason Fungs lecture where he mentioned that some cases may take a while before there are any results. I decided to give it a few more weeks and on week 6, I just woke up one day feeling better and so much lighter. I felt like I lost a lot of weight just overnight. The next day I woke up feeling like I had lost more weight. I started losing so much weight so quickly that I actually added extra carbs into my diet because it was extreme and I needed it to slow down, I literally felt like I was deflating. 4 months later I had lost 26kg, my skin cleared up, my vision went back to normal, no more blurry vision even tho doctors told me it was ageing and there was nothing I could do, I had no idea it was the insulin resistance/diabetes side effect, so that was a nice surprise, my anxiety went away, I slept well, no more water retention and swollen feet/ankles, no more feeling hungry all the time, no more getting dizzy when trying to exercise (I did not exercise during my diet as I used to get too dizzy and felt like I was about to faint anytime I’d do any exercise even yoga). So you’re definitely on the right track! Don’t give up!
She IS lovely but she was a little careless with her appearance in this interview. Just look at Dr. Guidry he looks great in his suit with his colorful tie. If you see other interviews, she had more better look. She dyed her hair blonde, wear light make and the clothes….well sometimes good and other times not that good. ❤❤❤
An outstanding podcast with 2 people I like and admire! However I was disappointed that there was no discussion on lectins. Both have different views on this, so it would have been interesting to discuss this topic.
Yo pienso que ha tenido una gran acogida con su libro porque está siendo sincera con su información y la ha puesto asequible para que todos la entiendan . 🙌💪🙏👌 Te queremos Jessie
I lived in Villebon Sur Yvette for a year, I'm from the UK. I just wanted to say, my best friend whilst there was extremely overweight, she was about 18. The family I lived with cooked with, mostly, jars of vegetables from shops. I did love the way they stayed at the table for hours, outside or inside the house. I did love the French bread, nothing like it! I also saw supermarkets for the first time, way ahead of UK, Carrefour. This was 1980 so way before your guest was probably born 😂 Great Podcast, I do have two of her books too ❤
Poor Jessie when she was invited recently to this French tv show.. I felt for her. For once that we could listen to her essential info on nutrition, she was allowed to speak only a few minutes at the end of the show.., and in a kind of hurry because of the timing !! The main info channels on tv are pathetic.
Yes that’s how our media works. Big pharma and the medical industry don’t make money on healthy people. So think about that. Watch on tv the commercials you mostly see, which is pharma pushing something. Once you pay attention, it’s amazing. Be well 🙏🏻
Some dentists say, if our mouth bacteria is healthy, our saliva recovers our tooth enamel during fasting. And constantly eating snacks and taking sips from our drinks prevents this process. Basically eating removes some protective surface minerals etc. and our teeth needs to rest to recover from eating anything.
I had recently heard a report that some of the non-sugar sweeteners mess with your gut biome. It is hard to know which ones are the best. I have been using monk fruit/xyletol. Such an informative conversation. Thank you!
I'm really, really taken by our difference in cultures. We ARE more rushed here; we DO use seed oils & processed foods with infinite shelf-life. We DO eat rapidly...and it's messing us (U.S.) up! The French are SO in tune with health...above and beyond the food, which they eat fresh. Ninety minutes for a lunch break for children IS appropriate. No wonder I'm often a nervous wreck...it's bred into our system. SLOW DOWN, AMERICA.
I love it! I’ve been wanting your input regarding Glucose Goddess because I read her material and began implementing before I found your books Dr. Gundry. I love you both!!! 🙏
Dr Gundry, I wanted to say I consider myself your BIGEST fan. It was INCREDIBLE to see you had Jesse on your podcast. I came across her video by chance the other day and wondered if you knew about her..and just like that I see her on your video!!!! Moving on, (I can praise your videos for ever)..wanted to ask if “insulin resistance” can happen to Type1 diabetes? Dying to hear/read your take on this? My son is Type1 and I worry CONSTANTLY..😔….appreciate your time…❤
I appreciate the fact that Dr Gundry has written about this hacks in the past and she is able to put a fresh and easy way to follow. However, i wonder why she has not stumbled upon your work.
Listen to two intelligent, articulate people making sense of issues that have become problematic due to modern processing and psychosocial error concepts. We need help with this stuff. We actually do (even the ultra educated among us)... thank you
But be very careful when taking vinegar. I ended up losing so much potassium (that's what doctor said) and experienced dizziness or out of balance. That what I found out when I went to Urgent Care. Unstable blood pressure and dizziness. After that I stop taking the "regular" apple vinegar. I hope this helps.
Dr. Gundry should have never gone on Dr. Mike's podcast....it was a setup, hatchet job from the first minute on! Thank you, Dr. G, you have given me my quality of life back!
Exactly! That was the rudest, most disrespectful "interview" I've ever seen. Dr Mike just showed his immaturity and lack of scientific curiosity for what is just being discovered. It showed that he hadn't read any of Dr G's books or watched more than a couple of minutes of the videos. It was even worse than when Dr G went on "The Doctors" TV show. Dr G is always so kind and gracious to people like that.
To stay aware and motivated, you could ask yourself every day: 'Do I want to help my body live? Or help it die? Then keep a 12 step Daily Journal of your keto/cnvr journey, beginning with: 1- Intro detailing WHY you want to do this. 2- How you feel about this being a new way of life. 3- List what you need to do to be successful. 4- What foods to have and what to avoid. 5- How you feel (felt) on the day of your decision. 6- Then a daily list of what you eat and most importantly, 7- What has changed and how you felt on that day you realised this. 8- What mistakes you made and 9- How you fixed them. {Be totally honest with yourself} and 10- Do a 7, then 30 day assessment and record this, stating everything that worked and what didn't and how you managed the first 7/30 days. Then do 90 days. 11- Refer to this journal whenever you get disheartened, to help you push through the hard stuff, to remind yourself what it was like in the beginning. To remind yourself why you are doing this. Then... 12- share this idea with others, to help them stick to the plan. x 👍💖🥓🥩💃
Yes, love savory breakfasts ! However, to eat fruits first is recommended as may otherwise create gut cramps! Also the fruit digests faster and gain vitamins quicker! Eating Pepaya for the morning breakfast with a cup of coffee fills me and loves it! ( trying to loose weight with hyperthyroidism seems tough compared to what I eat -2 meals got used and not feel hungry especially eating the right stuff like whole grain and eggs) What is your input ? Lately in tropics. to quench thirst I have been drinking sodas (once a month or not even in the US) ! I forgot the Dr.’s recommendation to cider vinegar with sodas and a pinch of honey ! Shall try!
A tablespoon of vinagre in a tall glass of water /// vegetables for breakfast/// exercise after a meal///--- balsamic vinagre / mineral water ( mimic. Coca Cola
Please ignore her rejection of intermittent fasting, if you are stressed, use intermittent fasting to reset and clear your mind, you then create discipline to better structure your life.
A tall glass of water with 1 TB of A.C. vinegar before eating a meal to reduce blood sugar spikes? Won't that much water severely reduce the acidity of the stomach acid needed for proper digestion? I've read you shouldn't drink within a half hour before eating and an hour after eating to prevent adversely affecting digestion.
How on Earth?!!! I went to bed last night thinking I'd love dr Gundry and Jessie to have a talk together. I've followed Jessie's advice for 6 months now and am getting back to the Plant Paradox diet. So the biggest question I had was ---- if you eat blitzed soup, like a broccoli one, is this just pure carbs since the fibres have been pureed? Also is miso and natto beans not anti-inflamatory since it's been fermented? Thank you, great job
The only product of his that I've tried is his olive oil, which seemed excellent. I don't think he would lie about potency, tho', because it's so easy to expose. He IS, however, responsible for getting me off lectin-rich veggies, which eliminated about 80% of the pain, swelling, and other uncomfortable & sometimes crippling symptoms I was experiencing. (Removing electrolytes & most other plants got rid of the rest.) So I owe him AND respect him a LOT, altho' I do still question some of his more extreme claims.
I have learned a lot from listening the Dr Gundry’s podcasts and have been able to make knowledgeable and effective changes to my lifestyle. I appreciate the knowledge he shares…something available to everyone who listens and watches his videos, whether or not we choose to buy his products.
He is one of the very few HONEST doctors out there. He may mention his products at times but only in.passing & not pushing them. His health plan works. Was a diabetic but no longer, thanks to him. So to say his plan worked but yet question him is absurd. I will always follow his advice.
I never understand this things with eating every few hours... since childhood i could not eat before noon and in my early twenties eating 1 or 2 times withing 5-6 h period... but i was very active
Losing my gallbladder led to psuedo conditions because of the bile that is also important to control things like hormones and enzymes break diwn and insulin. Fun fact, even losing too much weight too quickly like I did from a past gastroenteritis flare and hyperthyroidism that led to highly dehydrated state, led my organ to fail. It can happen, the sugar even in things reduces from their fiber intake can be balanced with insoluble fiber but without meat or harder proteins like monds say to help slow the spike, you can't compensate. The pcos that xam after and the hashimoto's all connected to no gallbladder mind this, you end up with an inability to have sugars that cannot be easy to resolve via the means of simply eating the things someone wkth this organ could. Similar to pancreas and kidneys, this can become almost dangerous and yet I see so many going vegetarian after losing the gallbladder. I do autoimmune paleo and apparently peas even if he hates me for this and rice, saved my life wgen I ran out of chicken during a flare up. It stopped the spike long enough to get what I needed for a span of time. Bone broth, without that but nuts in excess yes. Phytonutrient. Anything hanging heavy on the vine I heard, eat in moderation or minimally. Yet we indulge and call bananas here and pumpkin health food. In Asia, this is not the case because it is a fact for desert that this knowledge he is going over is old news. It is true. A lot of doctors under the us healthcare system are milked for their misery. And that, is highly unconstitutional. Vote fir a nee Healthcare system and a mirror needs to be held up. My bland diet phase of chicken abd rice during bad flares are a heal all but the time and place, amount and how prepared how it is, I think is key. The what is in it and how is was farmed.
My sister in law was on macrobiotic diet. Mostly rice. Few vegetable at times. Few almonds. Was a cure for cancer. She did not get cured but some did. Did you ever hear of this diet. I went on it and lost so much weight that even adding a few things ( carbs) back did not help me gain. No fruit even. No prepared food. Got everything at an Asian market.
What about xylitol sources from birch..I wish y'all would have touched more on the sweeteners vs just allulose..anyone with feedback would be greatly appreciated
I noticed this calm adhd kid have a calm intelligent conversation until his mother gave him a bottle coke. 5 minutes Iater I watched his personality change. Before my eyes he became insane. He got up and started running up and down the hill like a mad man.
Fruit in its natural state is the best way of getting your sugar intake. The fibre slows the release of sugar into the body. That’s why it’s good to have fruits in its full form without being processed eaten the way it is just how it comes.
I don’t like sweets actually. I just want something that will give bulk to my meal. Something like old fashion oatmeal, but not oatmeal or grain. I just want something bland that I can have with some wild blueberries and almond butter. Are there any truly keto-based cereals or granola.
Hi. The vinegar is meant to be drunk before your meals,so you dont get a glucose spike About 20 mins I think. Don't quote me. You might want to check that out. Good luck.x😊
Ronda Patrick says she eats a cup of blueberries a day, telling us how wonderful blueberries are. What about that? And yes there is no context here so explain or talk about that.
Ok you need to be clear about your mother going off of insulin. She could not be a Type I Diabetic as Type I Diabetics do not produce any insulin at all in their pancreas. Please be clear. Your mother is or was a Type II Diabetic. I wish all videos and talk shows would differentiate between the two types and define which type of diabetes they are discussing. Please let me know if you read my text here as this is important to me. Please educate the public correctly. I only want to continue to subscribe to your channel if you are clear when discussing types of diabetes. Thank you in advance. I live in southern France and never touch processed foods. Everything is fresh and we take our time eating. This is the way America needs to learn to eat.
Great episode with the Glucose Goddess ! She is smart , nice , kind and super cute ( blond or brunette) and we could enjoy a helpful conversation 🙏🏻🌷✨🙏🏻
I started using the Glucose Revolution hacks at the request of my Dr. to improve my energy and maybe lose weight. So glad I did. It’s been 3 weeks and I have more energy and have lost several pounds….no counting any macros or calories, just doing the vinegar before and eating in the order she suggests. It is so easy it feels effortless. It’s what I’ve always needed..
