The Merica has two finishes. The sanded one and an unfinished one. The sand blasted one tends to stick to my face (like my Henson) while the unfinished one glides through. A good deal for a made in America stainless steel razor.
Hello David. Just saw this podcast at the point you mentioned your upcoming surgery. So touched at the challenges you are having from hip surgeries, and can only imagine the painful moments; yet you are so positive in your videos. What an inspiration.❤👍🏾 Please continue to tap into that strength that comes from that inner place within the spirit, and believe for a divine touch from our faithful God. You will be fine by His Grace. Thanks again for the awesome all round lessons on wet shaving you share with us. Stay blessed. 🙏🏾👍🏾
Love the existence of a DE shaving live stream. Your videos are turning into my therapy. Love the low profile of the goodfellas razor. I can't ignore detailing. Every extra hair that I feel will be a thorn until it is trimmed.
Can’t wait to see your take on those Yates razors! They have been on my radar. I had my first shave with my new Karve Overlander yesterday and WOW what a perfect shave! Did a full head/face/neck shave. Zero irritation and BBS with a sharp Wizamet Super Iridium blade. #OhioShaves
I really enjoy watching your channel I'm just getting into wet shaving I've been learning a lot of tips from you you're doing a great job keep up work #OHIO SHAVES
Hi Dave! I'm familiar with audio stuff, i give you some advice about your gear setup! First: The Shure SM7b is superb dynamic mic! Very popular and quality gear, but you need to understand how to use it! Usually the dynamic microphones are not very sensitive from distance. You need to place them as close as you can to your mouth while you speaking. The SM7b's output is kinda low, you need afterwork on your audio to get the optimal volume or you can use a device to amplify it's output signal. Very handy if you do live stuff, if you just turn your mixer or soundcard gain extremly high the output signal get noisy. Recommended to use a dedicated mic pream before your recording device, or a cloudlifter. Its is a little box that uses your recording device phantom power source if it has one, to lift up the output level of the SM7b. Anyway the dynamic mics do not need phantom power, so do not apply that to the sm7b without a cloudlifter. Love your videos, you are a great guy! Humble and honest! I'm fairly new to the DE shaving and learned lot of stuff from your content! Keep up the good work man!
I do run the shure Mic through a field recorder but I just purchased a new MacBook Pro and I was unsure how to use my field recorder to output sound for a direct stream on RU-vid. Obviously, I have no troubles when I’m shooting from my mirror camera, and recording audio separately, which I normally do. I need to go on RU-vid and figure out how to connect it to my laptop for a direct stream. I’ve been thinking about using a streaming service to get a better resolution out of my camera, and then upload to RU-vid.
@@OhioShaves excellent news! Did you make a video of them shaving the incision site. How were his razor skills? 🤣 Jk. Some things aren't meant for RU-vid
@OhioShaves #OhioShaves Caught the Live late, but great content! Really looking forward to see what your thoughts are on the Merica razor! I've seen some others that really like it and have good things to say about it. This is an awesome giveaway of the Goodfellas Syntesi, appreciate all the giveaways you do! Have a Happy Thanksgiving and I hope your surgery goes well and you have a smooth and quick recovery!!
I got my brother to try my spare King C Gillette a couple weeks back and he's been using it since. Today he's using a lather brush and shaving soap for the first time right as i type this. I helped him lather for the first time because he hasn't watched any videos. He's 20 and we've got him into old school shaving lads 😏
I have friends that haven't switched to safety razors yet, but have upgraded from canned foam to "real" shaving soap and brush. Seems like that's a good gateway to the DE world.
After a few inexpensive safety razor, I bought the feather AS-D2 razor (I believe it is a mild razor). So far, after going through a sample blade pack, feather blade gives me the best shave, however, these blade do not last, two comfortable shaves then the third will start to tuck or I get cuts! I am thinking about the Ti22 from Hansen (++ version) a level up from mild.
#OhioShaves. Praying everything goes smoothly with your surgery🙏🏻. Also I love the new logo. It's very unique and creative. Is there any particular meaning behind it?
Yates bought out the company that sold, even though Yates produced, the 'Merica razor. They are bringing back the Winning razor, which I am very excited about.
For some video ideas you might consider some no-name; I mean not well-known companies and their products. It seems you have a lot of sponsors or products gifted to you that you support. I see some products on ebay & Etsy that may work well - using natural ingredients. But no one heard of them. For example, I head shaved the other day with regular bath soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat, and it went well. Like you I got a Vikings Blade : The Chieftain as my first razor. Was hating that thing more and more. But I was able to return it. I've got a true head shaver coming in the mail. Thanks for the Leaf recommendation for head shaving.
#OhioShaves Hope all goes well with your surgery so you can get back to playing golf 😅. The difference in my twig from a leaf razor or a dorco and an astra is significant. I was even thinking about getting a thorn. Thankfully I didn’t. For now I will stick with Astra but I’m not sure if them moving to India will make a big difference.
Great video as always. I’d love to get your thoughts on the new high proof razor vs the leaf, twig, or thorn. Happy thanksgiving #Ohioshaves @Ohioshaves
Thanks! You too! High Point will not send me a razor because I don't think they want an honest review specially, put up against the leaf twig. Their first razor was a huge flop.
@@OhioShaves I need to get with you on your surgery. I hate you are so young and having to do those. I'm sure you have a great surgeon though. Get well in Godspeed!
#OhioShaves Greetings from New Zealand, you have gotten me started with DE razors. What a passion! Got a Rockwell 6C and a Henson. Learning a lot from You! All the best!
I have coarse dark hair on my neck and it always looks like I miss that area if I don’t go ATG. I get an incredible BBS shave these days but the following day as it starts to really grow back I get the red bumps and sometimes the white pustules. I am required to shave every other day for work grooming standards. What can I do to get a close shave on my neck without going ATG?
I used to be the same way. Since I made the switch to a safety razor, I have relieved myself of skin irritation on my neck. Which includes razor, bumps, and in grown hairs. What razor are you currently using?
@@OhioShaves I’ve been using the Rockwell 6c for a while now. I get great shaves with it. I’ve tried various combinations of blades and plates to avoid it but I still get them from time to time on those close shaves. I just started using the Henson AL13 Mild recently to try something new. Same result. Irritation and bumps.
I would try a preshave oil or soap made for sensitive skin. I know when I have a ton of growth I’m trying to shave off my face I always use a pre-shave oil. When using the oil for me, it helps the blade glide across my skin, more efficiently to get a better cut.
@@OhioShaves I’ve been using Razor Emporium’s pre shave soap but that may not be the answer for me. I may need to go back to an oil. What pre shave oils do you recommend?
#ohioshaves As for Rockwell, when the Rockwell R1 I got when I first started this journey wouldn't lock the blade in (door kept loosening up while I was shaving even when moving my grip higher up the handle...my face sued for non-support) I lost all faith in the Rockwell products. While that razor was only 25 dollars, my feeling is if they don't treat their R1 the same way they talk about their 6C/6S then I have no faith in the quality control of their product. It also caused me to lose all faith in butterfly razors and I'll only stick to 2 or 3 piece razors in the future. That Syntesi looks like an amazing sleek razor that'll I'll be adding to my 'buy' collection. The rabbit hole is real.
just a q? i know the msg is late, but the code you just mentioned for discount can it be used in any amazon regardless the location, or it has to be amazon us??
@@OhioShaves I Have a general question I currently have as safety razors are King C Gillette safety razor which is mild and I have QShave adjustable safety razor by twisting it 1 -6. Was wondering if this razor would be any good that you mentioned on your RU-vid shorts what do you recommend it if I get it? They told me it's the same thing as a Rockwell 6c with 3 plates adjustable levels $36 and with your code Ohio_shaves 10% off Rockwell Razors® x J.Crew Co-branded 6C Razor The wish there was free shipping but I asked on Reddit and they said it has to be above 45 bucks which the shipping is $7 for it
I have used both razors, and I don’t find them mild at all. I find them medium aggression with positive blade exposure, which doesn’t transmit to a smooch shave
@@OhioShavesyeah I like the Gillette and the other one sometimes use QShave. I just want one that can remove it more easily with two passes at least. The video 40:00 - 43:39 that you were saying starting at made you a better shaver Thank you for the honest reviews on RU-vid. I will probably get it hopefully there is some return policy unless likely I will enjoy it like you do
Dave I'm with you I can't do feather blades not a big fan. For real Leaf is having a sale that is total BS Rofl. I just dropped $300 at Leaf which is even with your code. for the wife and the twin boys. Got the wife the Leaf 3 blade and the boys a Leaf Twig each for Christmas. #ohioshaves
@OhioShaves #OhioShaves Love the channel. Just started wet shaving about 2 months ago. Just picked up the 6S and stand for a steal at Rockwell. Thank you.
I just got the Stainless version of TRC razor a few days ago (0:19:19), but I love it already! It's similar to the Henson, but more aggressive than the Medium version I have. It shaves much closer, but also irritates my skin a bit more. So far I've only tried it with Feather and Personna blades, maybe I'll try a milder one. Get well soon!
