I paused the video at the very beginning and Aaron's look combined with the video title cracked me up. Like a parent about to say "I'm not mad, just disappointed."
Aaron - what would be helpful is a tutorial on how a user should organise their own 3D Warehouse content , eg what is the difference between folders and collections? how do I organise the presentation of my own models in 3DW... what is the best practice in uploading models?
Gosh! I was doing it totally wrong! So back to the drawing board! Yesterday I was trying to impress my husband that I could build a Wood Mizer into the shop model I’m drawing for him. I didn’t find one on my search in 3d so I googled and found an author (miraculously)and went to 3-D warehouse searched the author, brought it directly (oops) in to my plan and scaled it. I saw the number of polygons but didn’t how many tags until I added a new one to my model. So next time hopefully my model won’t be so messy! Thank you for such great info! 🥳🍃
good video, thank you, I am one of those who does not know how to handle this tool, I have uploaded models and I do not know how to look for them Saludos, desde Bogotá, Colombia
Good pointers! However, I think it should automatically search in the models tab versus the products tab. I don’t think I’ve ever used anything whilst in the products tab.
You should notice newbees to care about how much heavy the model to import. For example, if we design a mall with an adjacent carpark, we will stuck with plenty of cars.
I generally run a second instance of SketchUp while working on a project. This allows me to open my own components, a lot of which are grouped (example - windows, where I have a group of window types and I only want to bring in the 4/1 instead of all the transoms and awnings and casements etc etc). With that other instance I can download the 3D warehouse items directly into SketchUp and not screw up the main model for the project. My question would be, am I the only one who keeps his components library locally? I only post to 3D Warehouse to share models with others.
"You could be better, we all could be better" Sounds just like my Mother 😜 Nice video Aaron, I'm guilty as charged and don't take enough time to use the warehouse properly very often. I shall try better Mum 😁🤣
Have you noticed an issue when using warehouse direct from sketchup 2021, it does not allow downloads, I have to use a browser outside of sketchup 2021.
Thank you man, but today the SketchUp make 2017 is not available to download model that higher version then I upgrade to Pro 2018 trial 20 days left. Can I reinstall when it expired?
Yes! You use the Scale tool for that. Here's a video on how to use it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yFmQwaroUys.htmlsi=c-Z_IZ0ameDr0J5F
You said "we are" making changes/improvements to the 3DWH. Are you suggesting you have access to the administration of the 3DWH ? I'm asking because I have been trying for Several Years to contact ANYONE who administers the Warehouse due to one of My Models (currently still in Google Earth's Legacy 3D Layer) which was removed by an unknown, unauthorized person and I have no idea how to correct this. In short, my model of "Ferrari World - Abu Dhabi" (by me aka SnowTiger) was used in a popular Flight Sim (which I don't have a problem with) but was removed from the 3DWH as soon as the Map was released which uses my model. I would really like to get this matter resolved and can't do that without being able to contact Someone/Anyone who has any administrative control in the 3DWH. Please Help. I can easily show who I am and that it is my model and I still have the Model Files as well as the Textures. NOBODY else came even CLOSE to making as accurate of this model as I did. It was a difficult building to reproduce. Hence, mine was accepted into Google Earth and others simply looked goofy.
@@jonomoles I suppose I could. I guess I'm concerned that there will no longer be a link between the model that remains in Google Earth's Legacy 3D Layer and the 3DWH Model. I suppose I could give it a try. I think I have been a bit apprehensive because the email/domain used when I used 3DWH was taken by a Bot in 2010. I spent MONTHS trying to contact Google (when they had the Warehouse) to resolve login issues. Of course, between Google and Trimble, I have never been able to speak to a freaking HUMAN to try to resolve any of these issues. Also I'd like to understand how anyone removed my model in the first place. If I re-upload the original, what stops someone from just doing it again ?
So, five things to change or set to find a car in 3D warehouse? I think this is why 3DW has gotten too difficult to use effectively, or like we used it in the old days. Call me crazy or stubborn, but that’s my feeling and experience with 3DW.
