I use a glass mat when I'm blending. I tap my ink pad onto the mat and load from there. I will also start inking off the project. This helps get the ink distributed better through the tool, brush or foam, and no overly dark starts. You just have to be aware of where the ink is on your work surface. It can get messy.
Thanks Lou, this tutorial bought back memories of my very first ink tools, the ones with the removal felt...these are tucked away in the draw now...I love my CC brushes, I have both sizes and they are on my craft room shelf looking good.
Another great practical video. I have everything except the stencil brushes and the large ones. Although I have some tiny make up style brushes I think I need to get some stencil ones as the flat head looks easier to use. A few of the large ones would make sense too for the times I want to create my own coloured cardstock. Thank you for pointing out that the foam tools are not always ideal for use with stencils. So often you can be made to feel like you are a bad crafter when you simply don’t have the best tool for the job. Even an experienced crafter can learn from these back to basics tutorials. Thanks to great videos without a hard sell and affordable prices Creative Crafting products are becoming some of my most trusted.
I've got loads, like yourself, but my preferred tool is the Lavinia Stamps stencil brushes. I've also got a box of smoothies! I quite often use different tools for different jobs. If you're adding bokeh with a stencil, you might want a softer edge with a foam blender. I quite like to do a sharp blend in the centre of a stencil and do the outskirts with a foam. So many toys to play with ❤
Hi Lou,great video to watch. This answers a lot of questions for me. I now know why Im not getting the results I want, Circles I cant blend out and contaminated ink daubers. Thank you so much. x
I have the small blending brushes and the domed sponges and the tiny pen like brushes, the pen like ones I love. lol tfs this informative video, fabulous. ❤😊
I like the look of the large blending brush, great for doing backgrounds. Mostly I use brushes. I have got finger daubers but struggled too much with them same with the interchangeable pads on handles. I've got a set of stencil brushes only used one (only used a stencil once) but was please with the results
