I always thought it was a lack of skill for me being so bad. That’s why I’m am the Amateur! But now I can say I do have the skill, but that my eyes are the problem. Thanks Sparks, for boosting my confidence!
You are so correct. I used to work as a mountain biking instructor, and we taught the exact same thing. There are very sound reasons for the truth of what you say, so thank you for saying it.
Bit late to this this but you made me realise that all the training/advice I had about motorcycling in observing the vanishing point, target fixation etc should transfer itself to sim racing. Now if I don't get to A+ by Xmas you will hear from my legal team. p.s. I bet you were quick around the aisles at Tesco's.....sorry, Waitrose - I forgot you were in the garden of England. That 90 degree right at the French cheese onto prosecco straight is lethal.
haha, yeah i remember the same during my Motorscyle training, 'look and ye shall go'. and it is tescos, and yes im rapid! - except on sundays when all the old dears are in me way ;)
@@SparksTheory just got back from Tesco's myself......did a 10 minute first lap but was down to low 9's by the 3rd. Slow final lap as I forgot the wife's sour cream & chive dip & had to go back. Where I am the old dears come out midweek, I did go on Sunday once but was surprised at the hordes of yummy mummies with creaking trolleys when I thought they would all have been in church........
How will I tell @Piotrek F that I won’t be scanning the tracks for 2D trees anymore? He will not take that well…🤣 Great video Sparks! And on a serious note, after watching this, I’ve been more self-conscious about what my eyes are looking at while racing. You know how many times I’ve found myself reading billboards instead of focusing on my racing line? Too many times to remember 🤣 Thanks for the tip!👍👍
Very high quality on this! 😀👌🏽 And I have to admit that I tend to be lazy with using my eyes activly when I'm racing, might be the result of me binning it a lot lately 😂
I find your eyes move quick enough to flick from your brake marker to the apex and further, but it is a very interesting question. I think that once you are familiar with a track to the point of being totally comfortable, peripheral vision does the job.
