It breaks my heart how some people are completely willing to just abandon their dogs when we are so clearly the most important part of their lives. It makes my blood boil when people pretty much treat them like toys by getting rid of them when they had enough of them
I think there should be a test you have to do to own a pet. In my childcare class we had these dolls that were lifelike and would start crying at any time. We had to figure out what they wanted (bottle, nappy change, burping, etc) and do it. It recorded how long it took for us to figure it out then we talked about the results in class. We had to take them home with us for two weeks. Maybe we need something like this to show people what it takes to own a pet.
I believe that if someone doesn't have self love they treat humans, animals and their environment badly. I don't respect a human who treats animals poorly as much as I don't respect an animal lover who treats human poorly.

I love my two dogs chichuas Yorkie both rescue and they are my life I am so happy living these two babies they bring me joy and love if anything happens to my children will take care of my babies , these will be my last dogs we will all grow old together threes are my prize possessios God gifted these two to me first the chichuas then four months laster the Yorkie. Chichuahua he is 3 years old and Female Yorkie is 4yrs old both adore each other it was lovd at 1st sight for all of us. I'm blessed to be a guardian and custodian for my two babies
We had a Bichon who loved my husband, he dies from lung cancer, she went everywhere looking for him, the only thing that helped was giving her the fleece he wore before he passed. She died two years later she was only seven years old and i think grief killed her, she never got over my husband dying. X
While I was in the hospital for leukemia, my boy Cozmo would wait by my bedroom door at home until my mother opened it. He'd run in and look around for me and when it became clear that I wasn't there, he'd look at her like, "Where is she?" When I finally came home, he wouldn't leave my side.

Sometimes I believe we humans don't deserve dogs. To them, we are their world. But to us, they will always be second. It pains (and angers) me so much when people who decide to have human children decide to abandon their dogs. Or when people just abandon them after realising that they (the owner) suck at simple tasks such as toilet training and would rather have clean carpets over the love and affection of a dog.
thtupid I don't regard my dogs as "second", they are my companions and friends. Humans are brainwashed into believing that animals are inferior which they are not. I agree with you that many people who own dogs should be banned from said ownership. We care for our dogs and should endeavour to give them them best life possible.
I remember reading a news story about a dog who saved a kid. Armed burglars came into their house and the kid fled upstairs, leaving the family dog with the intruders. The dog attacked and got shot twice, but as it was slowly dying it noticed the intruders went upstairs and thus would find the kid. So the dog jumped up despite the bullet wounds and attacked again, the police then entered the house. Thankfully the kid was smart enough to call the cops, but if the dog hadn't attacked those men would have killed the kid. A lot of people were commenting things like ''this shows the bond between owner and pet'' or 'thank goodness the dog saved that (15 year old) boy!' Bond? Really? That dude left his dog to fight off men with guns. And the dog did, barely surviving, for his stupid ass. Dogs are so great, I never understand the people who leave them behind in emergency situations. If my house is on fire, I'm not leaving without my darlings. If the car is sinking into water, they are leaving first. If an armed idiot walks into my home I take the back door with my dogs besides me. Flood? Tornado? Short on food? I know how long I can go without water and warmth, I don't know how long my dogs will last. They get every thing first. They are invaluable. I will fight you for them 0^0)/////
My Doberman male died at 13 but I can't know this for sure but I think he liked to be hugged. If I sat in a chair or a sofa he'd climb up to me with his front legs on the chair and drill his upper body close to mine and rest his head on my shoulder... As a human I couldn't resist hugging him and he didn't display any discomfort. He just walked down when he was done hugging. I mention his age because I want to emphasize the love between us. 8 weeks- 13 years... I would choose that again over any girl
My female rottweilers do the same. They push themselves right against me and put their head on my shoulder or chest and usually put a paw in my lap or hand. It sounds like he loved hugging you or he would have moved pretty much immediately. Sorry for your loss 💔
When my stepdad moved in, he brought along a middle-aged shitzu that’d never leave his side. After a few weeks, the dog took a liking to me and I taught him how to fetch. Since then, he’s stayed by my side. Occasionally my stepdad will joke about how I “stole” away his dog, but What’s beautiful is that I think my dog and I truly calm each other’s anxieties.
My little Cock-a-poo Molly is my favorite person in the world!! She's a gentle little soul who is very laid back, until I leave or return home, then her beautiful, russet eyes start sparkling and her little nub of a tail starts wiggling as fast as it can!! I always pick Molly up every day and tell her that she's my Dearest Dear, and that I surely do love her!! At first, she was a little hesitant, but now, she tips over and asks for a belly rub!! Two years ago my husband of 58 yrs married died. Eight months ago I got a female toy poodle puppy. Josie sleeps next to me and as she grew she chose me, not just because I feed her, she loves and trusts me. I needed her because I was used to be needed and cherished. I’d be so lonely without this soft five lb. furbaby.
When I moved out of my parents place a few years ago their dog got so depressed that she stopped eating and playing for a couple days. It broke my heart but warmed by heart both at the same time
The embracing point is so true!!! When we first got our Lily, she despised being picked up. Once she started sleeping on my bed and realizing I was her main care taker, she lets me carry her around like the baby she is ❤️
personally, i strongly agree with not training a dog to be aggressive, as well as not getting off on a dog being overly protective. my first dog was a papered pit, and her love for all humans was what made me so proud of her (like never, ever once barking at the front door). remember, no one wants to enter a home and be fearful of a dog, nor would i ever want to worry about my dog hurting someone. my current dog is a rescued pit mix, and while she will bark at the front door, i have zero concern about her harming anyone, be it at home or out and about.
My boxer is my velcro dog. Goes everywhere with me. Wakes me up with a hug. Gives me a hug after dinner and Ive never had a dog that did that but apparently some dogs do. He is the sweetest most gentle boy.

I knew I was my dog's favorite person from the moment we chose each other. When I went to adopt my dog, my aunt went with me. I was choosing between him & his brother. When I held his brother, he gave me kisses. He gave my aunt more kisses than me. When I held my dog, he was way more enthusiastic kissing me than he was with my aunt. I knew he preferred me. That sealed the deal. He always chooses me over anyone else. He lets me get away with things that he doesn't let anyone else do, like touching his tail. No matter how excited he is to see other people, it doesn't last long. He can be snuggled up getting the belly rub of his life. As soon as I sit down, he immediately gets up & comes to me for affection. He licks my tears away when I cry. He snuggles into my back at night. He follows me everywhere. He's absolutely amazing! My best friend ever!!
My husky has been an anchor in my life. Has always cured all that is wrong with me by his simple presence and pure love. My husky has befriended nearly the entire neighborhood and has helped a small girl get over her fear of dogs and I never even knew it. He has a large yard fenced in and everyone stops to say hello to him. He is a miracle

My dog has dominant traits and he was alpha of the litter when we bought him but I think I’m his favourite because he loves play fighting and picking on people and I don’t allow it so I just beat him up and we’ve gave eachother fair amounts of bruises and bites but it’s play fighting the breeder said his dad would play rough in the garden and he was always the last one standing the rest would run to the mother but I believe because I don’t put up with his shit he respects me more than my mother who babies him and talks in baby voices I think he’s just a man loving dog He’s a red fox lab

My dog, Tucker, gives me all 10 signs! I love my brindle boy! He definitely has a loving and caring home. My wife and I love him and our two cats, Tazman and Beamer very much. Okay so I bought a pug for my own money and I was 10 and now she is attracted to my mom. She hates me I can tell by her body language. And it sucks bc I want to spend time with her and sleep with her but whatever I do she still hates me. I got interested in huskies well I always wanted to have one and now I have him. I’m picking him up in 2 weeks and i’m so exited!!! I can’t wait to develop the connection between me and Ukyo

The way my beagle Lily shows her love for me is she will lick. And not just my face. She'll start at one foot and lick all the way up past my knee, then switch to the other leg and lick all the way down. She also does it to my husband. She also stays with me in bed. She doesn't get out of the bed until I stand up off of it. I love beagles!

Christine Bukowski Ok thank you for explaining 😄 I used to be a cat person and hated being licked by dogs. But then I got a 6 wk old beagle puppy and it was puppy kisses from then on. She started the leg thing when she was just a few months old. She's 6 now 🤣
On the contrary, its been scientifically proven that a dog's mouth is 20x cleaner than that of a human since their saliva has anti-bacterial properties. So if anything, a dog licking you actually helps you.
My dog loves me body and soul, or rather body. I would give up an arm and a leg for him. In fact I have. He likes the meat and chewing on the bones as well. I hope I won't run out of limbs to soon.

Heh. I guess my dog loves me; but, then, she loves everyone. She does seem to be sad, whenever my wife or I leave the vicinity. Mostly, she just likes the 3 of us to be together and happy. Her favorite times of day are "Wake up Master" and "Wake up Mistress".
I live in Asia. I might be one of very few ppl who see dogs as equally as breathing living. Everytime I got a dog, they always ended up being stolen, killed or poisoned👊😣 I stopped having dogs for five years now and really miss the indescribable happiness from having the unconditional love from a dog😖😞
When I get super upset my dog wants to leave. This is one of the only things on this list that seems off. Well, that and my dog may have separation anxiety. It may be because I'm very loud. I tend to get loud when I'm upset.
