Anyone who's been following the gaming industry longer than yesterday should have seen this coming from a lightyear away.

Everyone knows the RMT’ers are an issue because they bring in cheaters to profit monetarily. I agree that the cases should at least have an option to be unlocked via gameplay but isn’t selling koen going to divert players from buying from 3rd party markets therefore cutting the amount of cheater in game? The bias towards tarkov/dark and darker vs a free to play game like ABI seems steep. I may be wrong and am genuinely curious to hear your perspective on your support for one game opposed to the other

It's clear that the business model Arena Battleground Infinite is designed around will definitely impact the overall monetization of FPS games. I'm sure Activision is closely monitoring how this subscription model evolves. This seems like the next step in greedy monetization, moving from free-to-play models, season passes, and buying weapon skins. I'm surprised that well-known streamers are actually taking Tencent's money and supporting this. It just goes to show that streamers play a significant role in shaping what we see in the market today. I mean, a subscription-based "secure case" and actually paying for the ability to chat with others? Yes, I'm not kidding-paying for a "communicator" that enables you to talk to other players. Five to ten years ago, this would have never seen the light of day. Supporting this only contributes to the issues we're now seeing with free-to-play games.

Unfortunate. I'm beginning to question if we can ever have a game, in this space, that is truly free of P2W mechanics... why can't devs just monetize skins and the like, and call it a day?

A secure container and a keychain, things that are also available for purchase in Tarkov. Whether its $30 a month or a one time purchase of $250, the advantages these things provide are not different. None of the actual gameplay is locked behind any pay wall. No real advantage over other players is locked behind anything. This is not AW where you HAVE to use real life money to open loot boxes and get variants of guns that straight up have better stats, THAT is P2W.

Most idiotic thing of all is its a half ripped tarkov. None of the items have ANY use but quest/sell them. They ripped entire game but failed to add hideout, skills. Im level 15 in ABI now and i dont see the reason to not play tarkov. It looks 100 times better, it feels better theres actually NIGHT that looks pich black. Sound design is milion times better, and ofc it is the ORIGINAL . The only thing that i like in abi over tarkov is when you load mags you can exit inventory and walk around while loading.

I spent a whole 2 days playing this game getting as much loot as possible. Once my stash was completely full, extended stash included, I did a batch sale on EVERYTHING just to get an estimate. Everything came to 500k total. Keep in mind I had tons of modded guns, tons of purple loot, some gold loot, and all of that crap should have gave me at least 2 mil, but no, the loot you get is worth barely a fraction of its value. This game is 100% pay to win. Imagine penny pinching for days to get a good kit, then going into a raid and getting dispatched by a some bush wookie, a squad of juicers, or some cheater, losing everything

Wonder how this will translate to the delta force title they’re alpha testing right now. The devs said any monetization will be strictly cosmetic in the pestily interview but that’s according to the devs and not the shareholders

The Best weapons, ammo and gears are not locked behind a paywll. i thrive on this game without buying those secure container and key chain. i reached legend rank without the secure container and key chain.

What’s more important is that you can win and have fun without paying for anything. Which is completely possible in this game. It’s a high quality game, that is free, and easy for new players to get into. All these complaints are really reaching. You have access to almost all gear by level 3. You’re never going to run into someone that beat you simply because they paid for something you couldn’t get access to.

I called it lmao. I copped shit for buying the unheard of edition because I wanted to have early access to the PvE scenarios. Those same people that spat at me said "fuck that, I'm quitting Tarkov and waiting for ABI because it'll be so much less pay to win" lmao

Weel i play on mobile and 2x3 keychain is quest reward(permanent) and i never spent money on koens i have an insane storage value and its not that hard to earn money, all i spent money for is a 2x3 case which is 3.5 euro on mobile and seing it for 5 euro on pc is really something. From my understanding rhey had extreme amount of cheaters because of rmt and shit like that so making it able to purchase ingame currency im fine atleast its not funding cheaters, and i see a small amount of cheaters on mobile and they get banned realy fast and having a killcam is so great to spot them. tarkov higher editions are P2W too with more roubles on day 1 , more and better gear on your stash at the start of the wipe , lvled skills , more rep with traders and more the more p2w thing on this games is the container because even dying getting outplayed you can still extract valuable items and tarkov have the big container since day 1 behind the EOD paywall and all the tarkov content creators-marketing team never mention it as PW2 when clearly is and more at the beggining of the wipe with the grind of quest items both games are P2W but one is F2P and released this year on beta polished and well optimized and the other is a triple A price ( not quality ) ethernal 7+ year alpha that aged like milk and is still incomplete and broken

Personally, gotta say I don't care. Bullets are the greatest equalizer, and so long as you're not complete crap, it isn't hard to run around with the best ammo, and a semi decent gun, and that's all you really need. Yes, I'd rather there not be "pay to win", and I absolutely hate the fact it is in gaming these days but honestly, I am usually the under dog in every fight anyway. I played THe Cycle Frontier, Tarkov, and others, and I'm always way behind, and that is how it is for most people anyway, so whether they bought their gear, or earned it, its no different to me.. 8 out of 10 people are going to have better gear regardless, and that's part of the game regardless. Once you learn how to fight them, its no big deal whether they paid for it or not. And if you're crack shot twitch streamers dunking on everyone in 3-4 man pre mades anyway, again.. whats it matter is honestly my take on it. Whether that team legitimately got their gear or not, you're going to go up against other crack shot pre mades with or without "pay to win", and they're going to be in the best gear all the time regardless, and your skills are going to let you come out on top 9/10 times regardless. I honestly feel like this is one of those few times in games where the "Pay to Win" aspect isn't nearly as big of a deal as people make it out to be.

I have been dunking on people with tier 4 and 5 apl day with the same kit i bought with earned money. These kids are buying koens and im taking them lmaooooo. You dont have to buy anything to compete.

About the secure containers, so in the mobile version there is something called a season store where you can buy cases, operator clothes, patches and a bundle where you have a random chance to get armor, bullets, thermals collectibles etc. And they refresh every week as you can only buy once. But it all depends on the community, since AB mobile has a lot micro transactions and I barely see anyone spending a single penny on the actual p2w elements and mostly focus on the cosmetics which i think will maybe happen on the pc as well.

I disagree with this heavily. Nothing they're selling is really important. You can say the safe case is pay to win, but I have a high survival rate without it. I'm sitting at 2 mil already and have no need for the store money. People just want to find something to complain about. I'll choose this over Tarkov and their lazy tyrants calling themselves Battlestate. You're spreading misinformation. This isn't pay to win this is pay for convenience. Grow up and find another game.

You are overreacting this. You can unlock the 2x3 keychain for free by doing missions and you dont need that much keys for one map. Buying koen isnt an issue because if someone is good at the game he can get himself the money and the gear if someone sucks at the game you just kill him and take the stuff he bought. Buying koen is very expensive too. Only the case is a bit too pay to win but they have to make money with the game somehow.

Dude Promoz gl40 and viibin already had 10 sets of 2 million dollar sets in 10 hours of playing because they are better than 99% of players and spent pretty much no money other than gamma case and storage. I’m not even that insane of a player and made 1 mill in like 4 hours buying in game money is a waste unless you are complete trash at the game and are going to lose that gear anyways. People are complaining when the p2w isn’t even that bad at all.

The game is free to play. What did you expect? Also, regarding RMT - its going to exist in this type of games either officially, or through cheaters. This is not P2W at all. The most crucial point is that no matter how much money a player spends, it can't change the stats of the weapons. No amount of money will protect you from an ambush by a rat. All the rat needs to do is hide in the grass with poor equipment and wait for you on your way back. You could spend a fortune buying a billion Koen, but you'll still die, and you might even die faster due to overconfidence and lack of caution. The core of the game's future revenue lies in selling weapon skins, which do not affect the weapon's performance. As for Koen, only fools would buy it, and even if they did, it wouldn't help them win. In some games, like War Thunder, if you spend money to buy a powerful tank, that tank will always be yours. But this game is entirely different-buying Koen will ultimately only end up in the rat's pocket. So I completely don't understand the logic of those who say this game is p2w. Moreover, this business model is superior to the Tarkov model, and the reason is simple: in Tarkov, once a player buys the game, they have no further value. Nikita might even wish for the player to quit, so he can save on server resources. As a result, we see cheats running rampant in Tarkov, and Nikita has no incentive to address the cheating problem. After all, you foolish players have already paid me once, so why should I care about you? Nikita might even be making money off cheats himself. The servers remain as terrible as ever. The root cause of all these problems is Tarkov's terrible business model. From a business operation standpoint, Tarkov is destined to fail; it's not a sustainable system. So im guessing not many people have dedicated some time to the missions but for the 2x3 keyring is easily earnable thru quests with the medic and honestly its all you need. The case may be more of an advantage but realisitcally its to give players who arent so good a chance to be able to earn some loot at the most part.

The BSG and ABI situations are completely different. If you dont see the nuance between them then try to look at it objectively. ABI never claimed to not be micro transactioned up. BSG has been vocal about not being that way and yet let RMT and cheats run wild while selling massive game packages with p2w mechanics built in. One game is honest about it.

It isn't necessarily pay to win but you are paying for the convenience. You can still play for free without getting your ass clapped every game.

Nothing feels better than being a free player going into Valley with 100k loadout and camping / rat-sniping a P2W tier5-6 equipped player, then extracting with their stuff worth 500-1000k lol. My biggest extract was 1.8mil doing exactly this.
