Oh wow! Seeing my favourite artist pay his respects to my dad's profession (fixing antique player pianos) is truly awesome...he calls it "the first synthesizer" which I've said before myself.
I Googled, "What's Brian Eno doing in 2015 ?" Here I am. Hmmm. Am huge Eno (Music fan) in the 80's, still are. And have huge respect for the man, love hearing anything he has to say. Thanks for uploading this !
Brian Eno's music and visual compositions has always been an inspiration for me when I work on my projects. I find that he is always re-inventing and discovering new sounds and ideas.
He reminds me a little of my sister. (Who did only the visual arts side.) So creative. I used to ask "How do you think these things up." She would just shrug. It was as if ideas leaped into her head. facebook.com/Janis-Leonard-Design-Associates-87661160797/
Brian Eno's music is the music of here, there, and elsewhere. He has pioneered the greening of music by freeing the 'created' of the self-seeking 'creator'. In the beginning was the 'heard'.
Some people must feel very insecure about themselves here on this thread- "Pseudo-Intellectual" - really?! Ask U2. or Talking Heads, Devo, Daniel Lanois, or any of the other other artists he has collaborated with - his albums with David Bowie are astounding! I wonder what you arm-chair critics have accomplished that puts you in "The Almighty" position? One person did mention something about taking what Erik Satie had done, and running with it. Well, yeah - that's true, and I think Satie would be honored, and proud that he had inspired such a visionary Apostle! Music for Airports is the best music on Earth to either study, or sleep to! - Certainly nothing bad about that! His new music doesn't move me, but his contribution to the sound-arts is immeasurable!
great artist... total inspiration... only one strange thing... State of Independance by Donna Summer was a remake of original Vangelis and Jon Anderson song with most of the original Vangelis production unchanged... the Donna Summer remake was produced by Quincy Jones not by Giorgio Moroder... I Feel Love was the famous Moroder "locomotive" sequencer line that Eno is probably refering to few seconds later in the documentary... must been a slip of tongue or some bad editing... the clip shown is the State of independance remake by Donna Summer produced by Quincy Jones (original production by Vangelis sounds quite similar minus the choir)... when i saw the docu i was like "Yeah Vangelis" and than "What Moroder ? What a blatant copy..." Coldplay singer Chris Martin revealed to The Sun newspaper that State of Independance is producer Brian Eno's favorite record and that when they were recording their Viva La Vida album, he played this all the time.
To klacker47 and tamozz: The first song in the film is NOT "Julie with", it's called "By this River" - track 8 on 'Before and After Science. I thought you should know.
eno supo elaborar una gran cantidad de objetos parartisticos, cosas que podria haber hecho "Cualquiera" y que por esto nadie hizo. El y su privilegiado cerebro descubrieron la trampita, muy del genio de los ingleses ademas
Brian Eno or "Brain One" hahaha should be KNIGHTED BY THE QUEEN. But, perhaps he might not want to be! Thank you for brightening up my sunny Seattle morning!
If only...only...only... Posh Bri could see, actually just sit and watch ET glitterworms over Mexico. Mr. Eno, if there is a more perfect ambassador to the cosmos, I can't imagine.
What are those beautiful wooden studio monitors he’s using? Any idea on the hi fi amp too since they are passive monitors? Looks to be Cambridge or Rotel
@ACEtoneStudio strong words… strong enough that I bothered to check out your website. Having trouble? Maybe you should jump at the chance to have Eno collaborate!
No problem Eigil. If you are a Talking Heads fan at all, here's a fun bit of trivia- Eno was a big fan and produced a number of their albums (Eno is a brilliant producer and the number and caliber of albums he has helped to polish into masterpieces is impressive.) The song "King's Lead Hat," from the aforementioned album "Before and After Science" is an anagram of "Talking Heads" and has a bit of a Talking Heads vibe to it. In my opinion, if you are interested in Eno's output of pop music, four albums are essential and among the best in music history- "Taking Tiger Mountain," "Here Come The Warm Jets," "Before and After Science," and "Another Green World."
@bloopamoi yeah he's kind of got this weight of cultural acclaim and intellectual baggage on his shoulders now. His best stuff was the 80s stuff in my view, the solo ambient and collaborative stuff when nobody was listening at all to him and when the music press virtually ignored him.
That is funny because I used to silently preface Brian Ferry's name with the words "playboy crooner" every time I thought of it. (Based on the way he dressed and his facial expressions.)
Eno's ambient music had such a profound effect on me at the time. A true innovator. Such a tragedy that someone who produces such deep spiritual music would support the deluded, nihilistic, charlatan Dawkins. His biggest shot in the foot. An open mind now closed.
cityzenkane108 Bizarre comment. Dawkins champions an open mind. He simply says that any claim should be supported by evidence. Seems fair enough to me. And the opposite of a 'charlatan.'
@ACEtoneStudio Nice one. This guy is cringeworthy. Why don't people see the generous clues - "Brain One", "kids today don't love music like in the day", "we need global governance" etc.
