I replaced much of my electronic gear in 2020, including upgrading to oled, denon avr, emotiva amp, ps5, series x, etc etc. When it came to speakers and subs, I initially was thinking svs, but when I started looking into Arendal, I was sold, even considering the import tax and shipping cost associated with the products, which, if you're buying in bulk, is not insignificant. I went with a 1961 package, including dual 1v subs (rated at 550 watts each), 4 height speakers, center, 2 monitors, and two bookshelf speakers for a 5.2.4 setup. I've been super impressed with the entire set up. When watching Tenet off a panasonic ub820 player, the subwoofer response for the lfe effects in that movie are frightening. Truly frightening....but I love it. I had to limit output to about -23 db....any more than that volume setting and the shake in room and in other rooms was troubling me a bit, which is where the frightening part comes in, as I was concerned with mirrors and other things falling off walls in other rooms, it was crazy.
I was just going to upgrade my two SB2000 with SB2000 Pro, then the dealer though I should consider the new Arendal 1S instead. I'm currently trying them at my home, and they are simply spectacular! I never though there was any life after SVS, but there is! The sealed 1723 models are the best subs I ever tried!
@George Azzopardi the budget arendals are thr 1961 1s and 1v subwoofers. They are 12.2 inch sub while this one in the review is a 1723 1v which has 13.8 inch woofer. So this one is bigger. Look at arendalsound and you can see the specs.
I have had the 1961 1s for 5 months now and i am very happy with it. I have had rel and some cheaper ones before, and this is another league! Very very good.
Im awaiting the 1961 1v sub tomorrow, cant wait 😁 im also a ported guy but did the 1723 1v perform in music in ported setup? I know people like seald subs when playing music but I like the overall power and performance of a ported sub even though it doesent sound as clear as seald ones. Heard these subs are musical eaither way but was just looking for more info from someone who have tryed them in both seald/ported for music.
@@sieq82 I have the 1v not "s" so cant say but if it sounds anything like the 1v I could not recommend it enough! Tightness, strength and detail is unbelievable from this price point!
@@el_projects my room is 22sq/m and I can tell you that I dont have any issues with the 1v in that room, I would probably say its a little to bigg for my room if im honest. Unless you have bigger than 30/35sq/m I would not bother for anything bigger than the 1v unless you want 2x of them for better spread and equality in the room.
I watched your review on the Arendal sound speakers sometimes back and I can say that am impressed with your review and have taken a keen interest on Arendal sound. They have some of the most beautiful and well built speakers and subs out here and it's good to learn that their subs can compete or even outplay giants like SVS. I used some good quality earphones to watch this video and from the rumble that came from this sub, I can surely agree that this sub is a beast. My next home theater project will be a purely Arendal sound system. I love good looking speakers that can perform. Good review bro and keep up the good work.
Amazing review. I have a room that is 12 x 26 I was wondering at a budget around $1500 what subwoofer would you recommend? Worth considering in the future I do plan on getting a second sub thank you for any advice and help keep up the amazing work
I have the older 1723 sub 3 and my processor insists I turn it down to almost 0 before it will even consider calibrating it. Love it, very smooth with music, but punchy and authoritative with movies.
Pb4000s and be done. I love mine. My room was to small for the 16ultras and I got mine for 1500 each new in box so pb4000 it is. Ultra center and front L&R with Klipsh RF28 rear and its killer.
Awesome! Heard many of the other AS subs they sound fantastic. Currently running 2 B&W PV1D there are much better options performance wise but using it due to very small movie room and the small neat design.
Can you please review the klipsch R-100SW would really appreciate it probably the only best RU-vid channel I know that’s good at reviewing products. Awesome content
I have dual PC-2000's and they are amazing, in my room they are flat all the way down to 10hz. I bought a u-mik 1 and mini dsp hd 2x4 and had no adjustments to make.
I need to get 2 new subs, it's between Arendel 1723 1V or SVS PB-3000. Any thoughts on what sub would be better to go with for Home Theater use. Thanks for all the great videos.
@@TheBarbapapa1234 I ended up going with 2 Monolith THX Ultra 13 and love them. Bang for the buck you can't go wrong. I did get the Arendel and was underwhelmed and just didn't have the budget for the SVS.
@@OffTheWallreviews nice! No problems with them so far? I hear mixed things about these new monolith 13 and 16 models… and hoe is the input sensitivity on those 13’s? What receiver do you have?
You'd choose this over the SVS 4000? Wow. Enough said. I'm currently researching subs because I want an upgrade from an old PB-1000, and I plan on going duals. I have a large open space with my living room and kitchen. So far I like the Paradigm Defiance X15, SVS PB-3000, and Rythmik FV15HP. I guess I'll have to add the Arrendal to my list after this review. Any suggestions?
That scene is awesome to test speakers. I have a Sonos ARC, Sonos Sub, and Play ones, and when I listen to this same scene on my SVS Ultra Bookshelves, SVS Ultra Center, and a single PB3000, man! Anyone that comes to the house I show them this scene...the SVS blow the Sonos setup out of the water easily. I love my Sonos setup though don't get me wrong, it's in my bedroom, but the SVS setup is for the living room because it fills the entire house for me. Saving up to get another PB3000 and some elevation speakers too.
You should put your subwoofer at your listening position and crawl till you find the spot in your room where the bass is the best. But if the SVS gave you a better performance then you are good to go. Arendal is snappier than thr SVS but it doesn't go as low as the SVS.
have a couple sb-4000’s each plugged into a dedicated 20amp outlet. they give a nice quality sound in my room but subsonic they can’t be pushed too hard without making undesirable noises.
What sub level and trim do you run in your receiver and what gain on the sub as well as overall receiver volume. I have 2 sb-4000 also and with -6db on the receiver and -6db gain on the sub I watch movies at about -10 on my yamaha receiver and it is bone rattling and clean. Might be worth contacting svs support about sub noises, or do you mean you room is making noise?
@@dalechalfont112 receiver is -65-77.5db when seriously listening, gain for subs is 0db in receiver, sub gain is usually -12-0db and depends on the content to what db i listen to. the subs are fine, two came in blown so i had to swap them through svs. both make identically noises at identical times. example is when pushing them at the begging of edge of tomorrow
Hi, sealed subs don’t have a low pass filter like ported subs. So they can play quite loud with room modes help in subsonic frequencies. I had the same noises as you on my dual 1723 1S and via the app I put a low pass filter at 16hz (without that I had a flat response until 10Hz). And I got rid of these noises.
im not here to knock REL, SVS, etc.I ve had them all. But nothing gives you the versatility of this ub. If you listen music AND home theater, this is the oneIm not login to tell you its better at Muscis than REL (but its 'clearly second to REL) , or better at home theater than say Fathom, JTR, or SVS (but with the new driver, amp , design, its arguably as good , its very competitive cost wise, and its finish and build second to none-NONE !)). We are talking no less than a sub that competes with REL in control, clarity and speed, SVS in depth and power,
@@arikononen4022 oh my bad I thought this was the 2V he was demoing. Misread the title. But yea, my point still stands for combining the 2V with the PB16 ultra
The 2V would be a better PB16 comparison. This just doesn’t have the power nor the displacement to go against it. This is better put up to the PB3000 or a PB4000 maybe
@@ThaVillaManif one is between the 1723 1V and an SVS sub of comparable output, which one do you think sounds better? Or would they be indistinguishable in a blind A/B test?
You have great video editing skills and on-screen persona, but you are leading your viewers astray with over-hyped sub reviews..If they are really that "earth shattering , room destructing BEASTS" then you really aren't as much of a basshead as you claim..Try bringing a JTR , RYTHMIK ,PSA into your room and then you might actually see some structural damage....These reviews of box-store subs causing destruction kind of discredit your other reviews , like "What else is being over-hyped?"
Lol shut up kid. Everything is relative. Not every has room for the subs you are referring too. This compared to a Klipsch, B&W, REL or anything else from mainstream retail would absolutely get crushed by this 1V.
Most of the speakers you mention are really only available in the US. That's only 5% of the worlds population. Arendal makes very high quality speakers and sells direct to the customer, while still not cheap, they are well priced in comparison to speakers of similar abilities.
