@@WisdomLearner Eris was just the golden apple, everything that happened after she gave it to Aphrodite, Athena and Hera was Aphrodite's fault. Not Eris, she didn't abduct Helen
Ares comes across as really lonely. Like dude can't help he was born as a war God and has a special interest. And while he's going out of his way to find common ground with his family everyone else just wants him to be someone else. Like, that's real depressing man. No wonder he's down bad for the Cathonic Gods
Honestly. He's one of my favourites, and i wish that opinion was shared throughout the olympians. Plus, i would argue that, in a world where there objectively is an afterlife free of the plights of mortality, and where people tend to reach an optimistic opinion about eternity, the act of bringing war comes across as less than evil. He is the god of war, after all, it's his domain, and the ancient greeks weren't exactly known for their diplomacy. Would you rather he hate his job like hades? The horrors of war still exist, many face injustices beyond compare as one may tear apart their lives, but they go somewhere where the wicked are punished, and where they may reunite with those they've lost. War likewise separated and reunited achilles and patroclus.
I absolutely love the direction they depicted ares both design and character wise. And while the sibling rivalry vibes with Athena is cute and on pojnt it's apparently a little known fact that Ares apparently had a soft spot for Athena in that he actually obeyed her on occasion. In a way she probably understands him just as much as aphrodite does being two sides of the same coin.
They are brother and sister after all with all their good and bad sides (and I don't just mean blood related, that doesn't mean much for the greek gods)
Ok, I know Ares and Aphrodite are dating, but... I got a bit of a crush on him. He looks unique, he sounds slick and his blessings have gotten me very far in my runs.
Honestly the ashen black skintone for Ares is a look I didnt think would look good but it REALLY works. What better way to represent the hot headed god of war than to have his body scorched by the flames.
