It’s amazing how Aretha reinvented herself for each decade from the 1960s into the 2010s. Literally a different personality lol. She was truly the queen. May she rest in peace!
Her 70s period is untouchable by any female or male vocalist for me. Her tone just completely captured you and then the range was freaking ridiculous. I
I love Aretha Franklin. Fans always talk about the 1967-1969. But lets talk about 1970-1979 her vocals were on fire she was in her prime during this era. Her timing her breathing control, her delivery, her timbre, her high belts her low register she had everything sadly by 1982 her voice changed very smokey and raspy with her cigarette intake. But glad from 1993-2000 she had her second prime with no smoking. 70s and 90s Aretha was on fire
The days of lps 45s and 8tracks. I wore these records out. Aretha looked and sounded amazing. Ken Cunningham sure knew how he wanted his SoulLady to be. Missing you Aretha.

Aretha is my favorite but let`s not forget those who paved the road before Aretha came along and those who came along with Aretha and helped pave the road with her like Gladys Knight, Melba Moore, Patti Labelle, Shirley Brown , Phyllis Hyman , Candi Staton , etc

Aretha Franklin could NEVER garner too much praise as far as I’m concerned. May she RIP and continue to be appreciated for the joy and comfort that her music brings to the people.
Is it just me or does it seem like Aretha isn't really gone? I guess for me it's because as a small child through present day (in my 40's) I've listened to all of her music, the concerts, and watched video footage of her a million times over every year non stop, she's still with me in spirit. But I often forget that she died in 2018.
I know that feeling all too well. I first remember hearing Aretha in elementary school, by high school, I was a fan. By the time I reached college I was a big fan. By the 2000’s I was a huge fan of the Queen. It’s still difficult to believe that the greatest singer of my life time is actually gone. It’s May 2024 and it’s still hard to believe it.
Queen Aretha hits notes that made the Queen of England's crown tilt....is there any wonder Queen Elizabeth summoned her royal band to play RESPECT when Aretha transitioned....on another note....did y'all see how that soulless audience was just sitting there, with no expression....I would have been all over the place!!😂❤
I've wanted to see this for decades! Man, oh man, she was fine and sangin'. There's no one above her in my eyes, and she earned her title as the Queen. And to hear Without Love live was so amazing!
Angel, A natural woman, I'm in love, I say a little prayer, Day dreaming, Sparkle, Till you come back to me and Something He can Feel Is PRIME Aretha. The vocals, the tone, the timbre are the best there's EVER been.
I can't think of one time in my life hearing Queenie sing (whether in person or via record or video) where she did not illicit a "Sing in Ree" from me. She gets you EVERY time! She got me so quick this time I laughed. As soon as she said "fly away" I said "Sing it Ree" 🤣
Lol this is what always say when I hear Ree sing as well, whether on video or record and it could be a performance I have seen many times or a record I have heard many times, and I still have the same reaction.
Aretha so young and gorgeous with her beautiful matchless voice . As much as I love Whitney's prime voice , Aretha will always be " The Voice " for me .

You know there are times when an artist hits a note or does something with their voice that makes you hit yourself and one of those was at 1:50 it was subtle but damn outta sight! 🥹
I cannot believe I'm finding this only now. And the medley is great though Without Love is the cherry on the top, one off my absolute favourites. I fear I'll be listening to this the whole week.
