Lift every voice and sing
'Til earth and heaven ring
Ring with the harmony of Liberty
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the listening skies
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea
Sing a song full of the faith
That our dark past has taught us
Sing a song full of the hope
That the present has brought us
Facing the rising sun
Of a new day begun
Let us march on 'til victory is won!

@Tony Johnson Anointed means blessed -- so unless you think everyone can sing like that, she had a blessed voice. And both those songs were written by someone else, you realize that right? She put her soul into the recording, that's why it's blessed, that's why we say her voice was anointed.

No matter your color, if you are an American, you should know this song. It's our second national anthem. I don't call it the black national anthem because it's not just for black people. It's for all people who love God and know that our ancestors paid a great price for us to be where we are today. I am the descendant of a slave and I hope that my life is something she would be proud of.
@CHPYXO
@CHPYXO Год назад
I agree that Americans should know this song, period. This is our nation anthem. However, what I don't agree with, is your erasure of African-Americans which you try to hide under the guise of ''unity among all god-loving people'' and the ''our ancestors paid a great price for us all to be here''. No, MY ancestors had to fight against YOUR ancestors because they enslaved us and paid a price in BLOOD for me to be here today. This is a black national anthem, it was made by us, for us to honor the blood, sweat and tears of our ancestors. Not just for ''god-loving people'' that completely erases the deeper meaning behind it. And while you may be the descendant of a single ''slave'', we are the descendants of millions of slaves who went through an unimaginable hell, 10000x worse and still came out the other end.

Great voice. I love her. But I am going to take a knee on this one if it’s going to be a black national anthem. You take a beautiful song and politicize this time separate black people from the rest of the United States does not seem right to me. They got Cosby for talking about fatherless homes. No wonder Denzel and Morgan Freeman is keeping quiet. We need to come together and not keep on separating blacks from other Americans.

Kerry White true enough, brother. Still not for me. I like national anthem for all. The regular one. And I think as it’s not for me, just for black people. Where is the national anthem for Asian Americans ? When I was a kid, there was no such thing as Asian Americans. Teddy Roosevelt said that there should be no hyphenated Americans. Just Americans . So I will just sit this one out. Last time I was in a football game was in Santa Clara and Colin kaputnick was terrible and we lost by a ton of points. The last time I loved watching the the 49ers was with Joe Montana. Then the sister of Eddie B took over . All these things ruined it for me. I understand others still love it but I am too old for this new football.
