I remember this very well so ol political mess because Al Pacino never won an Academy Award because he was supposed to win for Godfather part 2. Instead they gave it to Pacino for some BS movie Scent of a Woman. It was definitely Mr. Washington award though!!
You can say that again.... I love every bit of the movie watching him display his talent for acting. Watch him depict good old walking style, moving together the same way with Spike Lee in colorful suits making that naughty smile....wooow I love love the man. And big up to Spike Lee for making such inspiring movie.
It was a "mystery" to you! Really! In anti-Black America you were alarmed he was not awarded for portraying perhaps the most revolutionary Black person of the 20th Century! Come on now.
I…was a MESS BY the time this song rolled on the screen…A complete mess after Ossie’s Eulogy…An emphatically crying mess in my seat and it was the first TIME in my life. 🤦🏾♀️💖💖
That choir, though. Those sopranos! The way they soared up to the high C each time near the end! Both Donny Hathaway's and Aretha Franklin's versions of "Someday We'll All Be Free" are terrific, but this one really stands out in my mind.
The musicianship, arrangement, background vocals are simply bar none the best rendition ever made...IMO. The Queen showed up laid down her vocals effortlessly. Almost like she wanted to make sure we felt and understood these lyrics without question. Amazing. You have to listen twice. Once for the lyrics and again for the arrangement. Chilling
At the end of the Movie this song played many were leaving BUT Many were paralyzed some with tears streaming The Queen 👑 Aretha Franklin took this to the heaven. BRAVO Well Done
Yep. And I didn't even notice it was nearly nine minutes long. I had never heard the Donny Hathaway version before. I wasn't going anywhere and I don't think anyone else in the theater did either. That closing was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!
Aretha did an outstanding job on this song. Every since I was a little girl. I will watched the movie Malcolm X until the very end so I can hear her sing this song ❤❤❤. Just so touching too me😊
Previously posted versions of this song were removed from RU-vid last year. I needed to hear this today, so I took a chance and searched for it. I was so thankful that it’s back - thank you for uploading this, Rashad. This recording is artistic black excellence and food for the soul. 🙌🏽❤️
I can watch this movie a thousand times and I’ll cry every time. This movie shows that a man should be judge on the total sum of his own actions. God took Malcolm through a transformative journey that eventually brought him to a place of forgiveness and love for mankind..
I can’t watch the ending. I cry when Angela cry and she was magnificent in that movie yet no one forget that since she’s more notice for the Jacksons, what’s love got to do with it, and waiting to exhale which she did the most ultimate powerful performance in. NOBODY don’t show emotion as much as she does as she her heart and every fiber of her being into all of her acting performance
@Angel Johnson It's fair to say that they're equally appreciated. Both can touch you with their voices in such a way that forces you to listen until the song is over. Listen to Whitney's Star Spangler Banner. It's perfection.
From Start to Finish I can’t stop 😭 will forever love this song, it never gets old to me will be played at my funeral. Whoever dislike this song yo mama’s a man in my Bernie Mac Voice?!?!?
I have listened to this song numerous times and if you close your eyes and see what was going on back in Malcolm's and MLK time this song fits the bill I can't help by shed a tear, I was born in 1961, and I love this one!
I’m 33 years old , been watching this film all my life and always remembered the song at the end. Lately I found myself humming it and I’m like “I gotta hear this song.” To fully listen to the full version my god. Something about Aretha ❤
Donny Hathaway's words,Terence Blanchard's trumpet and Aretha Franklin's voice exemplify the strength and beauty of a people, who through centuries of oppression -- and much worse -- continue to share beauty. They share their experience incredibly and beautifully. The power of truth in their emotion shared in song/music reach out and touch the hearts of any who listens. This country is enriched with priceless treasure -- this quality in artistic talent and skill our sisters and brothers embody with such grace and power. Thank you thank you thank you thank you for sharing your gifts in many areas of life with such generosity and love. So very grateful for the countless ways your blessed presence uplifts hearts and lives in countless ways. Thank you for sharing your measureless strength.
Absolutely AWESOME!! This moved my soul to the point I didn't realize tears rolled down my cheeks! Malcolm X, Aretha Franklin, Donnie Hathaway God Bless you, Rest in Glorious Peace.
This song is getting me through my hard times right now May everybody stay prayed up the light is at the end of the tunnel we're almost there God will never leave you nor forsake you 'and take it from me someday we'll all be free'.

Forget about it. That did it for me. RAW UNADULTERATED SOUL. SOUL SOUL SOUL PAIN PAIN PAIN HOLLARIN HOLLARIN HOLLARIN GRITS GRITS GRITS CHURCH CHURCH CHURCH GOSPEL GOSPEL GOSPEL THE MOTHER OF IT ALL. Voice was taxed but the SOUL engine was super turbo. There will never be another.🎹💯 THIS Malcolm X project here n when she sang Natural Woman @ the Kennedy Honors for Carole King, her TWIN TOWERS peak performance for me. That "Devil stabbin us" is Classique expression of cry n pain.🎤🎶
I loved Aretha Franklin; But no one has ever sang this song like the incomparable Donny Hathaway. .. before or since. I still listen to his music regularly. It’s as if 50+ hasn’t passed. I’m right back there listening to his beautiful soulful voice. Next to him would be my man Frankie Beverly.
Everytime I hear this song it makes me cry, thinking about Malcolm and everybody else we lost in the struggle, but then Aretha The Queen was just UNMATCHED in her talent. God had to be speaking through her with all that power
chills every time. My Mom and I cried together after watching this movie for the first time together back in 1993. This was the first movie I ever watched the full ending credits for.
Well the prophets said he would awake like a man from his slumber, but when he gets up he's coming with force. The Lord never slumbers or sleeps and he has his eyes on everyone watching us closely. Come Lord but let us be ready.
What an amazing and befitting eulogy to this proud man who, once given a prompt, pulled himself up by the bootstraps and lifted himself out of the gutter to undergo an incredible transformation into a well-spoken, dynamic, worldly individual of national and global consequence. The saddest part is that his pure faith was betrayed by the very people who inspired him. RIP, Malcolm X. You were among the very finest of men.
There will never be another aretha franklin rest in peace my 👑 god 🙏 bless your family I am a huge fan I will always love aretha franklin God bless you 🙏
I couldn’t find this song for a long ass on the internet...it’s like the copyright owners were purposely trying to keep it from being online. Thanks for uploading.
This song every time I hear it, I have hope to do all things through Jesus. I love thinking about the bonding with women and my worship to God. Daily we all have time to be free. The best way to be free is to be humble and love one another, regardless of what religion we are. Happy Day to all
This(Aretha)Still will stand all time,(Prince) Until the end of time,(2pac) and Slipping (DMX) was all I played before my Mom passed away last year makes me cry 😢😭 but hopefully I'll keep working hard on keeping my mom happy 😊 r.i.p mommy gone but never forgotten love you.
