"Argentina Is Not Racist Anymore" Dude we abolished slavery in 1813, and never had legal segregation of any kind. We also never had "native reservations", we integrated them all "roman-style". Their chiefs became officers of the cavalry army, and their childrent went to the same public schools as anyone else. Plus by 1920 there were more immigrants than natives living here. We were never racist. Or to be more precise, we were never more racist than the US or the UK.
I am an African American who studied abroad in Buenos Aires in 2007 and I had zero problems. Argentines are cool people. As a black man who travelled to Argentina few months ago for work, I can confidently say I had a great and positive experience. Austin is so damn right, the way you carry yourself cannot be underestimated when you travel as a black person. Dress nice, shave clean, talk proper and move like you're somebody then people will reciprocate. I remember going to a popular bar in Buenos Aires for Friday Happy Hour. A group of women were randomly approaching me for pictures while some were hitting on me hard core. Some may argue it's racist but I quickly understood many Argentinians are simply not used to seeing black folks in their daily experiences. Regardless I had a great experience, made new friends along the way and definitely y'all to visit the country. Thanks Austin

There could be very small percentage of people that could be racists, but I have never seen such people. What I saw was a great cherish and care for black people in Argentine. As an argentine i can tell you that racism in Argentina is nothing compared to the U.S. You may have a distored notion of us because of football (Soccer for you guys). In that context, it's super common to insult the oposing team and its supporters with every insult in the book. It happens every week amongst ourselves in the national football league. We insult each other and we laugh it out (At least most of the time). The problem is when we take that sort of culture to other countries that take those insults too seriosuly (like Brazil for example). To us it's funny and it's a part of football culture but to them is highly ofenssive and racist. The thing is that, when it comet to daily life, we are not a racist country by any means. If you, as a black person, come to Argentina you will not be harassed, attacked or mistreated just for being black.
Argentina never had a reputation for being racist, until in 2022 an article appeared in a newspaper saying that because there were no black players on the national soccer team. After that, saying that Argentina is racist began to be repeated as if it were true. Argentina is not only not racist, but it is the least racist country in the world for one simple reason, any Argentinian doesn't give a shit about someone's skin color, and I think that is the best definition of not being racist. I have also heard it said that Argentina has a history of racism, and that is also false. In Argentina there is no black population due to historical facts that were the opposite of racism, such as not being a British colony, which was the main slave-trading country, and that when they tried to do it in this country it was not popular. Slavery was not commercially successful in this country and that is why only 2% of black people came and much less than 1% to what is known today as Argentina. In Argentina, anyone in the world, of any race and any religion, can come and study in the best schools or universities for free, use the health system for free, work, etc. Honestly, that reputation that is being created for no real reason is offensive.

@@PPHDocumentaries In Argentina several years ago, largely introduced by the educational system by government policies, it became cool to be a victim of the "system" in some way. I'm not just talking about recism. If you ask someone who is very thin, they will tell you that Argentine society has a phobia of thin bodies and that they feel discriminated against for their thinness and depression, therefore it is the fault of that society. If you talk to someone who is not skinny, they will tell you that they feel discriminated against because when they are not served in a restaurant or if they do not do well with women, it is because society discriminates against them. If you talk to a woman she will tell you that she is discriminated against for being a woman, if you talk to a man she feels discriminated against for being a man and the new feminist culture. You don't have to believe me, just ask any Argentinian if they feel discriminated against and those are the answers you will get. Yes, it is true that it is a classist culture. By this I mean that they do discriminate but based on educational level. If someone of any race, sex or size is well educated they are treated very well, unlike someone without the same. level of education. I repeat, regardless of race.
These countries don’t think about race the same way as Americans do. I know it’s hard to understand as we are in the gringo bubble, but it’s true. Are there potentially racists in Argentina? Of course, as there is everywhere, including predominantly black countries. But I’d say the majority are just people trying to survive and pretty cool. If you treat them well and present yourself well there won’t be a problem 99 percent of the time. I know its a bit foreign to most Americans (apart from NYC and Chicago) but Buenos Aires has pretty good Public Transportation network (Subway, Commuter Rail and Bus) Auston you gotta make use of it. Way cheaper and faster than driving everywhere as well
Nice to see travel content that is wholly centered on dating and relationships. Buenos Aires looks like a beautiful city with great food and architecture. I think if more "passport bros" took this holistic approach to taking care of their appearance, getting to know an area, and talking to more people than just the first pretty face they see on the street they would enjoy themselves more and improve black men's reputation globally.
In Argentina we love that foreigners enjoy our country and culture, we are very happy to share this with them and make them part of it. We are very interested in learning about them and their culture regardless of skin color, religion, or country of origin. We can have problems when we feel that we are disrespected, but we are also flexible if we understand that that person, not being from our country, really did not mean to be rude.

yep I've travelled to over 50 countries, and I don't remotely think about if someone in that country doesn't like me because of my color. People need to stop trying to be liked by every damn person they come across.
Yeah that really does get annoying I’m with you. I’ve been to around 30 different countries and never once have I walked around looking for acceptance and to see who likes me or who doesn’t. Black Americans have a really bad habit of doing this. “Being black in Thailand” “Being black in Romania” this inferiority complex Bs has to stop. Just try to enjoy the country you are in, respect the locals meet some ladies and that’s it. Everyone isn’t going to like you no matter what country same as everyone doesn’t like you in America.
I’m Argentinian and it is exactly how you said on the video ! It is not about the color of the skin what we discriminate, it is about behavior and presentation! Like you said “ act with good manners and everybody is going to respect you !” Love your video, great job ❤
racism exists everywhere, but it operates differently depending where u are. Its impossible to say that all argentinians are racist like is also impossible to say that nobody is racist in Argentina. But i can tell u something, the racism that exists in Argentina, and other latinamerican countrys, it cames from a place of ignorance rather than a place of hate, like in the US In the US there is more violence
Argentina is the place where a Russian can live next to a Ukrainian, where a Jew lives and shares the same places as a Muslim or a Christian. In Argentina there have never been bathrooms for blacks or whites. There is always a misfit but rest assured that It is a very small minority.
welcome to our country, we are not racist just stereotypical things that people and television installed in peoples mind, of course there allways are some stupid people that act that way but i think in every country you will find them.
I always laugh at Auston giving his expert opinion on a country when he's been there no more than 2-3 days. Go on Auston tell us about racism and then get into the economy as well since your such an expert on everything. Your boy floyd got ran out after 2 days!
True, and you need to live in a country to understand it, a trip is a tourist flex and as a tourist you know only the surface. Every country I have been to I have lived in, worked paid rent, and everything.
Somebody said he was light-skinned so that is what he looked like to them. In the black community their is no consensus on who would appear light-skinned.
Good positive attitude when things went wrong[sim card]..Your maturing real quick!!Man Brazil will love to have you back...The New Auston Holeman is Born!!
It’s unfortunate that travel plans with Floyd didn’t work out. You can have more fun and feel less lonely when you have a circle of friends/family traveling with you.
@@sireatsalot3202He had some issue at immigration and with a woman he approached which soured him to the country. He left Argentina and went to Brazil yesterday.
Not really. It's greatly freeing and feels empowering when you travel alone because it forces you outside your comfort zone. You can easily make friends in the countries when traveling alone too.
I am glad that you are enjoying your stay here, I want to tell you that I understand your situation, expecting every moment to encounter racism, but the truth is that Latinos, especially Argentines, are the most friendly people towards foreigners, and it is likely that you never find that racism you are looking for, the only way to find racism in Latin America is when there is a football game.
@@jesucristobostero3287THIS. Some act surprised football fans can be racist, but apparently they arent surprised there are no away fans in Argentina stadiums due fans LITERALLY KILLING each other. Those type of people you expect to be decent human beings? Pff.

Hey there, so happy that you are enjoying our country :) one tip i want to give you is when trying to comunicate you are going to have a better chance with english than portuguese, most of the public schools have english so could be in a really basic level but theres a better chance to comunicate ;) if you need to exchange money outside banks you need to go to calle Florida, near the obelisk, tehre are a lot of people saying cambio , cambio, they will exchange money. The market on the street that you saw is the street market of San Telmo, its only on Sundays but San Telmo is a great place to visit anyday and there is the old market , an old buildinig one of the first markets and there are great food places there but don t buy the fruit or meat there cause it will be super expensive, you will see "verdulerias" all over the city to buy fruits and veggies, and really recomend to visit the "casas de pastas" those are places where you can buy fresh pasta to cook at home, and the "panaderias" are to die for!
Stop using a CC. You are over paying by 50% get cash. Use the unofficial rate. Do your homework on the currency. There is a black market of which everyone goes by. Credit Cards is a no no...
Oh! Taht's my neighborhood. Let me tell you: we have racism like in any other country. But being black, it is possible that you will not suffer discrimination, because the black Argentine population is very small, so there is not even a racial stereotype around the black, as there is around the South American native. When the word "black" is used together with a pejorative adjective, it is usually directed at someone non-white, but rarely towards a black person. Even if you come across racist people, they are not going to be racist to you because they will see you as a tourist. Racist discrimination in Argentina always comes hand in hand with class discrimination. And at this point, your observation is very accurate: as long as you are well dressed and not dressed in rags, you will hardly be discriminated against.
Well, this is more accurate.
Our grandparents were very conceited, but society changed a lot, the stereotypes remained. Those same Latinos who visit Argentina regret having believed the stereotypes when they arrive in Argentina
We aren't racist at all... Although we do look down on the other countries. We do have a high ego and pride. Mostly because we destroy them in the football pitch 😂
Hey Auston, I'm happy you having a good experience here in my city. You are living in my neibourhood so if you need any information or whatever let me know. Good luck!
The soccer song is not about race, is about nationality... they were talking about africans because France NT have a lot of african descendants or french nationalized african born players. Is you want to search for racism ask France why they still have financial colonialism on Africa.
