Argentina always have shit first games because they play over confident and without taking the rival seriously, this was nowhere near the best Argentina has to offer, in fact I would say Argentina played at 50% except for Cuti who always plays 100% in the game, Messi was AWFUL but still gave two key passes that ended in the two goals

Not the best of Argentina but I know the team can do better. It’s the first game so usually Argentina start off slow as of late. They turned it up in the second half. On most days I think Argentina would put those chances away especially Messi. I think Di maria was off it slightly too. But I don’t think Argentina were going all out imo. Canada could have been 3-0 up in the first half easily. It's like those guys never played football in their life.

Argentina walked the whole first half. They are reserving themselves because it's going to be a long tournament. In the second half the went to the next gear and won without drama. They didn't go all out. Messi missed all that he's going to miss in the whole tournament. As expected, just an uneventful game for Argentina that was full aware of their superiority over Canada. Summarizinf, this was just a glorified training for Argentina. Canada showed good order attacking but their defense was really weak. The Man of the Match was Canada's goalkeeper. Not a tough game at all; Argentina simply outclassed Canada.

If both teams had their shooting boots on and scored every big chance... It would've ended 9 -3 or 10 - 3 in favor of Argentina. They missed 6 or 7 1 on 1's on top of another open play goal. The score flatters Canada honestly because their high line caused them a lot of trouble with balls in behind, they don't only need to review finishing but also more proacttive defending to prevent long balls from being that much of a problem.

You are right - it is surprising that Canada left this game with zero goals scored albeit truthfully if both teams converted on their chances maybe 5-2 was a fair score line. Besides David and Eustachio missing headers, Davies completely flubbed his right footed shot from inside the box and Larin had a half chance tap in shot. Hopefully Canada scores in bunches against both Chile and Peru.
