Unfortunately, unlike Genesis, ScaleTrains, Tangent, et al. these cars come with thick (not wire) ladder grab irons. Also they have somewhat un-scale substantial weld lines, the side sheet is too short, and bolster lifting area too small. Notice the videos don’t show closeups of the model - you have to try to focus in. All this and they’re more expensive than top-of-the-line models.😮

@davidbmanley9319 I appreciate your reply. It is unfortunate that more and more models on the market have become so expensive that the average buyer can not afford to buy fleets of cars to model on their layouts. Yes, a Cadillac is a Cadillac and a Ford is a Ford. I have several of the more expensive models available. However, We all have to purchase what we can realistically afford. Have a great week.

@@Nswle Thanks Nswle - so true. The problem I have with the Class One ARI 5200 Hopper Car is it’s more expensive than ScaleTrains, et al. cars but does not have the detail execution of those and it’s not value for the price.

Hi Stephen, re the paint schemes available, you SHOULD really concider offering the KCS belle scheme with a pre-faded KCS herald (the red & yellow octogon). By far MOST of the KCS hoppers have a quite to faded to signifcantly faded KCS herald, and no one makes a decal for this faded apearance. To be perfectly honest, many of us already have a bunch of the Scale T (you know who) Belle hoppers, so to make yours really stand out, a faded herald would be a sure hit with sales. I apprecaite your model will no doubt be better / more accurate but if we already have many of the others, will buying a better model be a priority purchase when SO many great models are coming out these days by a steadilty increasing number of new manufacturers? (ps Athearns don't count as they're a foobie [I don't have any!]) The herald fades to various degrees to almost all yellow. I'm sure you've seen many. There's always some parked at the Cargill plant on / at / thereabouts 2309 E Front St, Kansas City. I could send you some good examples.

The only thing I am interested in from ClassOne is the GP40. I get constant emails about all the other ClassOne products that are too modern for me. GP40 - what's the deal?
@CentralPALocos
@CentralPALocos 6 месяцев назад
The lifting area of the bolster appears much smaller on the model and artwork than it does on the prototype. The side sheet also appears too short as well, and the ends appear generally chunky to me. I feel like these issues should be addressed before mass production

You'd have to go back to their announcement on these cars to double check. I do know that there's a few different roof hatch arrangements on the model.

You’re absolutely correct, there are some pretty major detail issues with these which is unfortunate because it’s an important prototype in real life. Class one’s first product was pretty great, a solid 8/10 in my book, but their following projects have been somewhat disappointing due to glaring dimensional errors
@beeble2003

On the final pre-production samples, the ladders are wire and the weld lines look less conspicuous. I don't know about the other things you draw attention to.

@@beeble2003 You're right beeble. I guess that's the danger of doing presentations before having the manufacturing samples. Or, perhaps, the criticisms caused ClassOne to make the changes. In any case, hope ClassOne had a learning experience.

@@davidbmanley9319 trust me, I am sure I will have a couple when they are released. Yes, they are more expensive but the time in details is justified provided they are accurate. Mid range models can be upgraded with a little time and effort; there are those who like to purchase them so they don't have to, your wallet will reflect those wanted details. I am in!!
