Yeah, it's common in Icelandic that people have a side job on top of their actual job. A swim instructor is a professional song man A teacher has been in Eurovision for Iceland The list is endless.

Many countries should do it and it should be compulsory: if you're a high ranking civil servant, get down there and do some real work for a change. It would keep them from talking about things they know nothing about.

The same for all small nations, the thing is that small population does not allow you to live just from income from singing/playing sports/art etc., even if you're rather good. Of course there will be exceptions of people who get bigger internationally, but for more of a 2nd rate stars there is no chance in a small country to survive from income of so-called creative work or sports, so you have to do side jobs. Same in bigger countries, but there are much more people who CAN live from that income. Maybe as 1969Kismet says it is good, as in Iceland I suppose it is nearly impossible to feed yourself by spreading BS and being an ''expert'' in a suit without a day's experience in real world doing anything. In bigger countries those still can find audience big enough for Patreon sponsorship or even all kinds of TV gigs etc., in Iceland just the population is too small for that.

The question is, though, is the Icelandic soccer coach’s main job that or his job as a dentist?

@@ilovemuslimfood666 It's coach, apparently, since he coaches the Qatar team, now.

I thought Thunderclap was a Dungeons and Dragons spell that deals 2D8 thunder damage and make the owlbear rip your head off because it just awoken from its hibernation.

Or you mistakenly cast it in a Silence zone and just look like a gesturing twat.

Make the stomping and the “HU” part of the verbal and somatic components.
@ToudaHell

@Lt. Bran Wulfram the stomping might be hard to do standing up but I'll take the clapping part as my somatic component. HU! 👏

This was funny, how the audience got that wrong the first time is just so hilarious. I think there was another time where they got it wrong as well and Dara said "STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP! You're just clapping, that's not the same thing."

@@guinevere5666 Because most European countries teach British English, it's a required subject. We learn the pronunciation and everything. When I speak with my American cousins, they tell me I sound a bit British. I'm a POC from Belgium born and raised. I only know American English from movies just like the Brits.

Don't judge me (or if you prefer to do so, please do it in a civilised manner) - but "thunderclap" does sound like a VD which is such a fucking badass disease that I'm glad they didn't teach us about in nurse school. :-)

The idea was pinched from the Iceland soccer team, which pinched it from a Scottish soccer side.

in the pc games i have played over the years a thunderclap is probably an AOE skill where shockwaves stun opponents for a short time?

2:18 "It (HU!) literally means nothing." That may be true in a literal sense - on the other hand, could that have a similar meaning in Icelandic as the Dutch "hup" as in "Hup, Holland! Hup!" (which translates to: "Go, Holland! Go!" in English)?
