Her skin tone usually doesn't look that different on face from neck. For performances I heard camera crew uses purple light to make skin color look lighter than it is and K makeup also uses purple-y shades and correctors to cancel out any yellowness on the skin so that could be another factor.

I call it Korean Glow Up. Because, I've seen people who are living in Korea for years they get glowy, bright beautiful skin. They are definitely using korean skin care on regular basis, they are surrounded with k-skincare which changed their skin.

For Indians who have darker skin tones, the majority, and are always made to feel like that only fair skin is beautiful,by media and Bollywood, etc. on a daily basis, colorism is not a small issue . But yes, I think too much importance is placed on aria’s skintone, and since she is working in kpop, I wouldn’t be surprised if she had to get some form of lightening done to progress further

In the west tan skin indicates that you had the luxury to go out for vacations, you went out in the sun, you went to the beach and your skin got tanned basically indicating you have money and you had a nice time on your vacations. But here in south Asia, British, who had blonde hair, porcelain skin, blue eyes ruled South asia while south asians were out there working hard in the sun for them so it created a hierarchy. people with fairer skin were seen as a symbol for wealth while people with wheatish skin tone were seen as a symbol of being poor, having to work hard outside in hot sun. So thats why there is a difference with being wanting to have 'fair' skin and wanting to have 'tan' skin

It's funny how as Indians we literally see people of so many shades around us (I have friends who are pale as a ghost and also way dark and tanned ) and we can clearly see how all of them are so pretty yet why do we still keep picking on people and saying "Oh she's trynna be korean or some other nationality " just cause they're going for a brighter tone.... even if someone wanted to be fair what's wrong in that? As long as it's not affecting THEIR OWN mental health, why is it bothering others.... as an Indian myself, my skin tone changes with the seasons 😂 and I have at least 10 different shades of brown on my body cause of uneven tanning and I've begun to like it... some days I like my tanned brown skin (school roasted me to medium brown) and some days I like my brighter/fairer skintone (when I avoid going out of my house in winters and exfoliate often)... I think we need to stop putting so much importance on skin tone and just let people be😂🤗...

I think people should understand the kpop and Koreans greatly prefer pale, pale skin to begin with, so there will be certain pressures to lighten it, even for native Koreans. Maybe aria did or didn’t, it’s not surprising in the country and industry. They’ll do whatever possible to make idols look light skinned through lightening procedures or makeup. I wouldn’t solely blame aria for that, its kpop in general

It's not always skincare or makeup.... Also the climate plays a very important role.. & also the food South Korean people they eat a lot of fish & rice eating healthy also make your skin healthy.. Drinking lots of water everyday also can help you.. Even in India north India, eastern north India also have fair people bcoz of the climate the weather they have there.. It also depends on genes if your parents have fair skin you will also have fair skin.. If they have healthy skin you will also have it too...
