Many genuinely loved it. I absolutely do. In my opinion it’s her second best album. And POV is a masterpiece. It’s more R&B, which is not what we are used to hearing from Ariana. The reactions are pretty 50/50 actually. Just because you agree with her, doesn’t mean she’s the only one who’s being honest.
@@santiagogonzalez2814 that is your opinion. But do not state your opinion as fact. It’s not pop, it’s R&B. If that’s not your style, that’s fine, but don’t act like you speak for everyone, because you do not.
the expectations for this album were so high, i agree this album isn’t everyone’s favorite but i adore it so much because it’s more focused on the vocal production. because it’s so vocally focused this album with headphones is an immaculate experience so yall give it a shot w headphones 🤍
I listened to the whole album on headphones but still was disappointed. The production is top tier but it feels repetitive on many songs and melodies are not as catchy as I thought they would be.
safety net is my favorite off of this album. i’m not going to lie, when I saw Ty Dolla Sign I was like “tf why him” and when he started to sing... let’s just say I was amazed
I personally loved the whole album but I get why some people don't like it. Positions is very laid back, a few bops here and there, but a lot of them sounded chill. I see this era like sweetener, everyone kinda meh at first but hopefully grow to love it, and it sounds so much better with headphones♡
I mean I was kind of meh at sweetener at first and even though I learned to love it I still don't listen to Pharrell's songs on the album individually. But at least to me it was more cohesive and had more diversity which makes it one of her best albums. Whereas with this one I really feel like I'm listening to the same song over and over. But I respect your opinion though 🤍
People has different taste I watched everyone’s reactions and saw that we have a different taste, and agree that it sounded better on headphones cause I can hear every hard work Ariana did this to the album
Personally I find Sweetener a lot better than this album. It makes sense why it was so critically acclaimed. The whole concept, the lyrics and the production was stellar. It's still my favorite Ariana album to date and got a very well deserved Grammy. Positions on the other hand, I've had a couple of listens to and it's grown on me, but a LOT of the songs sound filler and overall it sounds undercooked as if not much time was put into it. Songs like west side and obvious seem like they were just put in for the sake of this sounding like an r&b album.

@@or_altr13 I suppose I should've clarified. I'm speaking about Ariana fans or people who enjoy her music. Maybe you don't like the style of the album, but that doesn't make it a bad album. I may not like country style music, but that's because it's not for me. If you prefer bubblegum pop and don't like this album that doesn't make it a bad album. It's just an album that's probably not for you. At least, that's how I see it. Does that makes sense? I personally love this album so much that it's in my top 3 from Ariana. Other people may not feel the same, but I don't think that some people not liking it makes it bad.
@@or_altr13 i agree, talkin about evolving or talking risk, i think it's time for her to change the game at this point, i understand she just wanted to release music for herself but it is something that we listeners have to listen more like a new sound and better music not the same as her old albums.
@@siapayah9345 Yeah I agree. I’m a hardcore swiftie and Lover aged pretty terrible for us. She stepped it up so much in Evermore and Folklore. I’m hoping Ariana has her Folklore in her discography for her, and I’m hoping DW wasn’t the only one.
She will "come back" with another album within a year 🙄 in the meanwhile she will be releasing basic songs just to stay relevant 😑Big question: is ariana afraid to be forgotten? Didn't she is the vocalist of our generation just as her fans state? She always plays safely with the only thing that make her being considered a pop girl : her voice She never come up with good lyrics and melodies... and that says everything
@@crsxlndl3555 she is not considered a Pop girl just for her voice lmaoo, she has plenty of great lyrics and melodies + harmonies and production. You probably think this is some blunt opinion but nah, this is just hating cuz it’s lies
Not sure how 34+35 sounds like shut up, just like magic, motive, off the table, six thirty, safety net, west side, positions, obvious, POV but go off I guess
TSwift did the same thing for Folklore but she came through and well deservedt, this album tho 😭 no matter how I try I can’t stand listening to the songs unlike her past ones
@@thatgirlnamedfangirl2143 RIGHT People saying just bc it’s unconventional and personal people don’t like it, like sis _folklore_ is hella unconventional but it was well done and many have regarded it as a masterpiece. I think people also need to realize that making something personal doesn’t make it personable. Like we get it, this is Ariana’s most mature and explicit album. What else? This album could’ve been better, imo.
Actually, worse than sweetener in context of lyrical content (except POV). At least in sweetener she was experimenting. I think she should have taken more time and reinvent herself to come up with new album instead of this. Edit: its not of tun's level but some songs grew on me. Means it's not that bad sonically
pure authentic r&b would've been ariana's best route i get what ajayll is saying about the trap it isnt gonna cut it next album we need genuwine type r&b from her

agreed but thank u next was pop / electro-pop with elements of trap scattered here and there. thank u next was amazing in my idea. in this album, she tried blending RNB and trap together and it doesn’t sound too good
@@musti8044 i agree. the production on this album wasn’t good. all of the songs are songs you can relax to, not songs you can dance to. there’s no balance.
Not yall hating on her ... it’s called a reaction for a reason. She doesn’t have to like it she’s giving her honest opinions. Don’t come for somebody if she giving a harmless opinion. Respect her decision and move on.
Why y'all hating on Ajay?? You'd rather she lied to her audience? It's just her opinion. Even I feel like Ari sounds tired in this album (I know....just because she has a couple whistle notes in there doesn't make it a great album full of energy) and the production is all over the place and a bit outdated, the album is lacking in lyricism/storytelling. This after Thank U, Next doesn't make sense. Even from Sweetener there are a couple songs that I could listen to over and over again. This album is once and done for me. The songs, especially the singles Positions and 34+35 seem like they're targeted to TikTok audience, no offense. The only kind of good things about this album were features with the Weeknd and T dolla sign ones (Doja was Doja. she was fire. I didn't find ari that interesting) and POV was good because the production was stripped down.
Wait what, this album has a lot of energy, it doesn't need to be like dangerous woman or thank u next to be energetic, it gives energy to your soul not your body, the feeling u feel when listening to some tracks like obvious, love language, west side, six thirty, my hair n more is unmatchable, i feel like i am in the clouds, but in the end it's your taste
Well it's your opinion, to me Ariana Grande sounds the most tired on Thank you next, i'm not speaking about hitting high note, but about vocal texture and tone, her voice is way more pleasant in Positions than in Sweetener and Thank you next to me, altough i can understand that production and melodically speaking people find it boring. Ariana Grande's voice on TYN sounds like she sang a day after binge in most songs, Her voice has always been nasal but in Thank you next it's just too much.
The album ahs alot energy if you like Rnb, and mam how tf does it not make sense after thank you next, she literally continued the storyline with all the songs except 3435 and nasty
@@exasperatedkai That's my opinion. I found that it is was a lazy attempt at rnb. Ungodly Hours by Chloe×Halley was a great example of a cohesive RnB album. But if you love it, it's fine. I just don't. No need to get your panties in a twist about my opinion.
the first time i listen i felt underwhelmed. then i just knew that i had to stop thinking about her as a pop girl. the album is beautiful r&b and trap that delivers VOCALS. it has the widest range of vocals we have ever seen from her
@Mr. Parrot my thought exactly. when i heard positions for the first time, it kinda reminded me of yummy. i love ariana tho. i wish she made more songs like "How I Look On You". I love her lower register
@Mr. Parrot it's the beat that sounds similar to me. my expectation was high when i saw london on da track posted the song. i thought it's going to be like Over It by Summer Walker 😭
@@vernonjc1818 Reference to the analogy of Harry Styles’s song “Watermelon Sugar,” in which he references Richard Brautigan’s book, “In Watermelon Sugar.” Many fans, however, believe it alludes to performing oral s** on a woman (i.e. the watermelon sugar’s being female ejaculation).
and Just Like Magic , I expected a lot from West Side cuz I thought it would be like kinda Honeymoon Avenue but it didn't go the way I expected it lmao hahaha
I really want AG7 to be more Ginuwine-style R&B and keep the style of songs like safety net, pov, my hair, motive and off the table. Not a lot of people are doing that style rn and Ariana is at a level where she could be doing something totally different rather than following trends and making TikTok songs.
NO!! ARI needs to drop the whole Trap-Hiphop thing and do something different, she's too talented to be pigeonholed. Sure "Positions" has a few good tracks but its all the same trap beat from dangerous woman to thank u next and positions. I know "Sweetener" is a mixed bag but its different, which is good.
i feel like it would make charts and do very very well with if she did rnb. it wud be so different but still from a popular artist who cud make a good product.
Its my fav, the vibe and feelings it transmit are amazing😭 This is how you use ty dolla sign in a collab, his voice is amazing and with ari they made an amazing collab Im crying
The biggest thing people are missing is Ariana has said herself she’s making music for herself now and just putting it out for her fans to have too. She made DW for the fans and they loved it but she hated most of the songs.. She’s at a point where she doesn’t care about awards or breaking records it’s just about singing music SHE enjoys. I’m not saying everyone has to like btw lol.
Doesn't mean people have to like it. good for her because that's actually amazing that she gets to do that but that alone does not get any passes from people's different opinions
this album is definitely a grower. wasn’t a big fan at first, but now.. i’m in love. especially with the story the whole album tells and the placement of the tracks is very clever. and of course her vocals are on point as always. i can officially say, miss ariana grande never misses. love it!!
I feel like Ariana wants to do more stuff with her voice she’s been one of the queens of pop for so long and I think she wants to give other genres a go which I think is good for her
I agree. I love Ari and her music and I respect that she is finding different paths to go to. Just because “positions” is not my favourite album does not mean I do not love it with my every being!!
@@aleksslopanovs Y’all are starting to equate trap music with basic and it’s tiring. It’s a genre of music and Ariana dabbles with it often. Y’all don’t say Lady Gaga made three identical electronic albums 💀 I bet y’all don’t even know what trap is tbh

Honestly, when I first listened to the album I wasn’t super impressed. However, now that I’ve given it more time, I do really enjoy it. I don’t know if it’s my favorite from Ari, but it’s definitely something to just vibe to while we’re all feeling alone.
I 1000% agree with you. Ariana has been doing r&b for years now. People just still have the cookie cutter pop star outlook on ariana. A mold she’s been trying to break away from since sweetener dropped. Ariana is a person and most importantly she’s growing individually but also musically. It’s time for her audience to grow with her too. Not just her fans !!!!
@@muzikjunkie2726 this happened with sweetener. Everyone disliked sweetener cause she had changed her image. What everyone lacks to understand is that she can’t just drop an album and be raunchy and be like Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears or Beyoncé when it comes to being explicit. Positions is the great album to drop in Arianas case. Positions being the dirty yet safe way to introduce this matured version of Ariana Grande. Giving the audience the opportunity to really understand that she’s no longer singing bubbly pop. She’s diving into what her voice range and overall air of how Ariana really is and what she needs to be singing. Period.
Sweetener: realizing pain Thank u, next: goin through that pain Positions: enjoying what pain brings to you like maturity edit: ok ok it’s been about 4 months now and I heard all the albums again and i realized that sweetener it’s about making yourself feel like everything is going to be alright, you’re going to be alright, TuN it’s about getting into a whole new chapter where loving yourself and recognize all your achievements and traumas and Positions is about being mature with your feelings and being in a mental state where you’re happy with yourself and with your friends and family idk i could be wrong but I feel it that way
i think sweetener is a healing/uplifting album, she's in love and she's super happy and she's at a good state in her life (even the production and the overall sound gives you that vibe, "imma be happy happy, won't get no crying from me"). thank u, next is a sad and trauma album. she's heartbroken and in so much pain, she has so much baggage. in positions she fell in love again and her baggage is slolwy fading, she's confident and in her bag again and she's more mature and has grown ("all them demons helped me see shit differently")
POV is such a beautiful song. Although this album may not be her best, POV will go down as one of her bests in my book. Especially for those who have been following her for a long time, knows everything she’s been through, and have gone through it with her. It’s beyond beautiful to me. It’s so amazing to see her heal and grow.
The last digit of your like decides which song u get: 0. Goodnight n go 1. No tears left to cry 2. Blazed 3. Just like magic 4. Quit 5. Motive 6. Positions 7. Breathin 8. God is a woman 9. Nasty Whatcha get?
OK THIS!!!!! Like i personally love positions but these songs would sound better scattered throughout all of her albums instead of those all mixed together
This album is a GROWER! The more you listen to it, the better it gets. When you know what you're getting and you just bask in it, it is glorious because her vocals do the damn thing. I do want her to do less trap based RnB and come through like the new modern singers cos this did remind me of what Changes WANTED to be...but couldn't even do.
THIS RIGHT HERE lol it took time to get used to the album at first i only liked POV and Off the table but the more you actually listen to this it's truly fun!
Nobody better give Ajay any hate for speaking HER opinion. I didn’t like the album at first but it has really grown a lot on me. My faves are pov, safety net, just like magic, nasty, and my hair
The thing with Ariana is that she's reached the level of success of pop artists who set trends (or have set them at least once) like Rihanna, Taylor, Justin Bieber, etc. And yet she's following trends. She has the voice but I feel like she doesn't have a lot to say with this album, it doesn't feel like she was inspired at all.
Wdym trends, the things she writes are the things she wants to write, and why is so many people blaming the trap beats on Ariana it’s the producer that makes the trap beats
@@virgos_groxve12 honey, ariana chooses her own producer means she relates into the producers work. We know she want to make just for her music but girl anyone is loosing their heads to the traps.
Yea I agree. We definitely need a more Chloe x Halle vibe from Ariana since they go all in when it comes to R&B and he definitely needs to stick to dance/edm pop or like old heartwarming songs cause that was SO much better lol.
Honestly Positions deserves way more appreciation than it gets. During a time when we were all anxiety induced and bored, positions was a fun and more relaxed album for us to just vibe to. Listening to it now it still feels brand new and refreshing.

i love how musically minded ajay is. i can’t really explain but she just is so knowledgeable with the whole process of making a song and all of that and she picks up on the music so quickly
@@valengutemberg651 i never said it was pop, but it’s far from being an R&B record. “west side” is so overlooked. after seeing many reviews and reactions it’s clearly the least popular track on the album. ppl are so quick to call it simple or boring, it hurts my soul cause i ran that song in CIRCLES .... but at the same time, i’m glad i can keep it for myself LOL ;) there’s an aaliyah “one in a million” sample in there around the roots but the entire songs tone & beat is pure 90s rnb. ariana’s low register really really does it for me idk man. i like chill songs, i don’t need overproduction or high notes all the time. 🤷🏽♂️ and even tho this song feels more like an interlude instead of actual an track, i’m perfectly fine with that.
Ok but she has so much taste ! I'm an Arianator and even tho she disliked songs I loved I still love her arguments and how she explains herself. I just think this woman is awesome for her honesty, she doesn't deserve any hate for being herself and honest. QUEEN
i think ariana needs to take a moment and step away from the studio and really look at some different perspectives. she pumps music out so fast, sometimes i think it can all become blurred and it lacks diversity. that’s why a lot of her tracks sound the same
but you’ve also gotta understand that her discography is supposed to be like a diary. whenever she’s going thru something (good or bad) it’s instinctual for her to write a song abt it. she says it’s therapeutic for her. she doesn’t see it as work and it’s done a pretty good job of keeping her at the top
@@elasticdancer Yes, she can write about things she's going through, that doesn't mean she should put out everything she records. Using music as therapy is one thing, putting out quality music is another

Respect everyone’s opinions, but I would say highly disagree, I don’t see this album following any trend (besides maybe 34+35) and it’s music ariana has been wanting to make for years but felt stuck to the more pop sound over R&B. I think thank u next was more of following the trends and positions her saying fuck it, Im gonna make what I wanna make. The reason I love Ajay’s reaction videos (aside from the fact she’s just the best person) is because she actually gives an honest opinion, rather than just the same tired, un-nuanced, unnecessarily complimentary reaction to every piece of work from every artist. And you can tell she genuinely knows about music and artistry, her opinions are well-informed.
Same I love that she's so honest but the problem with her opinions sometimes is she only focus on the sound and production and then totally neglect the lyrical content just like positions. Honestly, some of the tracks in this album aren't really vibing me but I'm surprised how cohesive this album in which she clearly neglects.
I feel like her talent carries her alot, she sounds amazing on anything, but there were alot of songs that just sound half cooked in this, Sometimes I feel like she is a genius, some times I feel like she's moving too fast to put stuff out there, of course that might all not be just on her but also or even more on her team, let the girl grow, quality over quantity you know?
Wym? Alot of artists put out an album the next year after the next. I even said that its not hard to have these songs done from years ago and stored away on a hard drive or USB and change stuff as the years go by cuz you wanted to make adjustments or change the production. I dont feel like its her team. If Ariana wasnt happy with it, she wouldve said something to her label but thats never the case with her. The girl knows how to write music and be in the studio just tryin out stuff. Its not hard to make a album the next year after this one. I agree. It isnt hard. Rihanna and Chris Brown do it. Its called hard work and dedication. Others may feel its rushed but not all artists take a long break. Thats up to the artist, not the fans. Shes not being forced. How do you know if these songs werent thought of since last year after Thank You, Next album? We'll never know.
The things I like about AjhayII is her honesty and bluntness. If she doesn’t like the song/album she meant it and doesn’t care to give shit to the stanners or fans of the artist if they gonna drag her down. And about the album. Nothing is new except for the lyrics.
The album is an album that connects every last one of her albums together. She said in an interview that she used inspiration from her other songs/she loves to hint at her other songs in her new work to keep everything tied together. This album is a wrap up of everything that she has been through in her life up until now. I believe it’s a closing of a very long journey and chapter in her life. She is finally at a point where she is happy, healthy, and thriving with her life. She can finally let go of everything in her past and move forwards to brighter things. You will hear through the whole album influence from thank you, next, sweetener, dangerous women, and all of her other albums. It helps connect her story she is trying to tell and conclude this part of her life. She does experiment and hint to her new transition into r&b and I love it!! This album is like SWEETENER for me where I had to listen over and over to really understand and love every one of the songs. It is a PHENOMENAL album and does a beautiful job of delivering everything she wanted to do. It shows how happy and confident she is now and I am unbelievably happy for her.
She also wanted a timeless feel to this album. That’s why you can hear like 90’s Mariah Carey, disco, groove, modern, pop, jazz, and so much more. Honestly this album is pure genius
Perfectly stated! I also think I’ll have to give it a couple of listens to appreciate every song. But I love the fact that it’s more r&b as I think it’s the genre her voice was made to do. And I do like the lyrical hints to her old songs (safety net to in my head, off the table to love me harder), it’s clever and tells the story as you said. I watched the Zach sang interview yesterday and it’s evident she’s in a better place with the way she carries herself with such confidence now.
