if I remember correctly, she said before that she had a sort of an "identity crisis" with her character cat. because while they finished recording victorious, it was still airing, so she must've felt like she needed to portray the same bubbliness and enthusiasm as her. and as the years pass, (and from her no longer actively playing the character) you can hear the confidence and calmness of a grown women coming into her own. and occasionally you can hear "cat" pop out, but it's only natural since she played the character with such dedication and probably infused some of her personality along with it. 💗🍥
@@gxianna It wasn't just the voice, she's said before that she felt the need to keep the "Cat image/persona" because she was afraid people wouldn't like the real her.
Well in the first clip she sounded genuine but for a few years after that (I’m assuming it was her victorious years) she had the baby-ish voice but I think it’s because they wanted to carry her character off camera as well
It's more because she lived in Nashville from the age 13-18 and she adapted the accent through the years from the people around her and lost it once she moved to new york and wasn't spending as much time around those who were southerner
@@hemingoaway and she moved to Nashville when she was 13 I know many people who have gained accents after surrounding themselves by them all the time you can easily loose and gain an accent
*"am I about to have a duet with jessi j and then nicki came in and I almost had a heart attack"* Me too ari.. That was such a legendary collab tho 😭❤️
Her deeper and raspy is the real voice. If she’s doing that cute voice she’s usually not enjoying it / doesn’t feel comfortable, especially when she talks mad quick
Kinda same with ari. When I'm relaxed around some people, I speak with a normal voice but when I'm shy or feeling small figuratively, my voice switches to that small high pitched one and no, I dont control it. My anxiety does.
Ariana explained that was her moving into her character Cat she's very inscure in interviews and in the first years she used cat's voice to have more people like her because she knew they liked her character.
YOOO WTH I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO DID THIS!! It’s so embarrassing because I think ppl think I do it on purpose to be cute, but I don’t. It just happens depending on how comfortable I feel 😭😭
@lolmfs it’s an issue because with the way she talked and how dark she spray tanned herself, no one even knew she was caucasian until a few years ago. you cannot tell that the difference between her complexion now and her complexion 5 ish years ago is okay. I understand you might be a fan but that doesn’t mean she shouldn’t be called out for this bs🤷🏾♀️
She thinks she doesn't satisfy her audience with her work, well let me tell you her music is not generic, and she works very hard for it to stand out from the crowd
In my opinion, her music is okay, some songs are good. And I think she was talking more about the appreciation she shows her fans, not so much the work that she is doing. If you're talking about the moment at 2:03.
Yo. First you have to understand that singing is using muscles, muscles she trained overtime... which means mucles that physically changed overtime. Singers who are serious about training their voice will slowly increase their pitch overtime to comfortably match closer to the pitch in which they sing. For Ari, that's a super high pitch so she was likely instructed to talk as much as she can in her mixed vocals (the voice between the head and chest voice). Ariana sings in her falsetto (head voice) which resonates up in the face. She can even do whistle tones which now resonate beyond the nose and mouth. Thus, it is better for her vocals overtime to shift up to a mixed voice, instead of talking in her chest voice like most people, because it is closer to her comfortable singing voice. I honestly rarely ever hear her sing in chest so it would be super weird now and straining on her voice if while her vocal range increased, she stayed talking low. Further, overtime these muscles would have gotten stronger and her naturall voice would have increased on its own. I'm not sure by how much but it would the higher she trains her vocal folds. This was honestly probably a natural progression she didn't even realize that happened when she trained her voice more and more... higher and higher. If she did realize it.... its def on purpose bc talking closer to your singing range is so good for the voice! Hope this helps
I think she said that playing cat made her want to act like Cat in person all the time. Like she seemed to lose herself a bit into trying to play cute all the time.
Her speaking evolution is normal and nothing drastic or odd. It's not major compared to Kim Kardashian or Paris Hilton. My voice is usually lower pitch when I speak to a familiar person or similar age. It's higher pitch/tone toward stranger/elderly/children. Some days my voice can be a bit raspier. My voice is different early morning until I hydrate. Supposedly our hormonal cycles can change our voice/vocal too.
I still have a habit of making my talking voice high I try to keep it as normal as I can because it started because i was bullied when i was younger about it and it can be higher with different emotions just like everyone else but I like my “normal” voice now it fits me better. Also she’s very inspiring for the teens and women who basically have been growing up together and we’re still able to relate and be inspired by her say what you want about her music but as a person she’s just awesome even for anyone struggling with mental health or anything else. she probably one of the best person to get inspiration from because she wear clothes that make her feel good and learns and tries to do better everyday im sure she’s helped a lot of people get through lots of hard times that’s pretty and she’s always seemed like a genuine person.
Same!! I was bullied for my voice which made me purposely speak in a deeper voice but then I got bullied for my deep voice as well so now I just don’t care
This makes me very happy The maturity and artistic growth that he has had is incredible I remember that ariana had a hard time having her own identity or some seal that characterized her The cat character chased her early in her career and needed to break free And that your doorbell is like this now makes me very happy She struggled so much to find herself that she now manages to control the tone of her voice I love her
I used to love her when she was on Victorious and was making RU-vid videos doing covers. It was obvious her deep voice was real. When she started acting like Victoria Monet, I noticed she was talking very different than she used to and thought it was real. Plus the way she let her fans drag Victoria Justice put a bad taste in my mouth. I liked her music, but was no longer sure I liked her as a person because she seemed fake to me. The changes she constantly makes in her looks and personality is jarring and makes it seem like she may have an identity crisis, which is a shame because she was so adorable in 2009 and seemed like a sweet girl. While it is normal for people to change as they get older, especially personality wise, the voice, tone, and appearance changes are very different than just someone’s personality changing. It’s like she has new characters and personas. Like on Victorious she acted and talked like Cat in interviews, during her first two albums she talked and acted like Victoria Monet, and after some slight shifts in voice and appearance, not it seems she’s trying to look and talk like Glinda. Either she does personas for the “eras” of her art to be different, or she’s a major method actor, or she has a major personality crisis. I hope Ethan’s ex wife will be okay and will find a good man who will appreciate her. I feel so bad for the child. Imagine how the kid will feel knowing their father abandoned them for one of the biggest pop stars in the world that will take a major toll on their self esteem. Not that Ariana cares, they’re just collateral damage.
I can relate to the voice change. When I was younger I wanted to sound nice and polite so I talked in a high voice, but as I grew up and got more confident and didn’t care about other peoples perceptions, my voice got lower
the thing is. when she was still younger and was on victorious she felt pressured to talk like cat valentine. she stopped talking like that years ago. however, singers sometimes do this thing when they talk a certain way to take care of their voice. ariana has said that vocal health is important to her. so that’s why u can hear two interviews from the same year and she’ll sound “different” (either low and raspy or high and kinda head voice/falsetto-y). add all of that to the fact that she gets anxious during interviews and you get different speaking voices lol
@@imhpinks yes because her young audience admires her "glow up" that they assume is natural since she doesn't admit having gotten any work done, when in fact, she has. if you don't see the problem here g bless u
I went through a phase in my life where I faked having a more high pitched voice than I really had. My voice is actually super deep like Jennifer Lawrence. I always wanted my voice when I was younger to sound high pitched and pretty, so I understand why she faked it
a few years ago she said she struggled with detaching herself from her cat valentine character ie voice, personality. so i think her current speaking voice is her most authentic one lol.
I think her voice rn is the most authentic one. She's most grown now, so she ain't tryna deepen or make her voice too high anymore. Now it's just regular
