all these recent comments just tearing ariana down aren’t even taking in consideration most of these covers were preforming literally years ago, before ariana developed the vocal technique she has now. additionally most of the covers were recorded on low quality sound devices and in my experience, coming from someone who’s vocal range and tone and incredibly similar to ariana’s, low quality recording device absolutely butcher my voice and make me sound more nasal than i really sound. and finally, just because someone makes a cover that doesn’t sound exactly like they original, doesn’t mean it isn’t good in its own right :) we don’t have to pit women against each other in the comments! all the vocalists mentioned in this video are great vocalists.
If she did all these covers again today she would completely slay them most of these covers were extremely old but she still did good but she didnt sound her best

@@olivias4727 I never said she tops another singer. I said, IMO, she has done an awesome job on this covers. She doesn't beat originals but sure as HELL KNOCKS THEM OUT OF THE PARK WITH ONE HELLUVA A VOICE.

Natalie Johnston just because they both have 4 octaves does not mean they are at the same level. Many singers have 4 octaves but aren’t great vocalists.
Natalie Johnston Ariana can sing , beyonce can sing . But you have to understand beyonce is vocally stronger , powerful and have way better technique than Ariana . Due to the fact she’s been in the game for 20+ years . She dances and sings for hours , rarely uses auto tune .
Hard to do a “vs” video when all the songs are by such powerhouses. She killed it, her voice is lovely, but if we playing the “vs” game she lost every round.
She didn’t do justice to I have nothing!!!, She sings Adele so niiiiice❤️, Bruno❌❌, Leona Lewis❤️, You need depth and power to sing Beyoncé❌❌, she sang Celine well
My favorite was the spice girls cover. That one seemed more recent than the others, with her breathy voice... All my favorite Ariana vocals are relatively new, when she started to grow more and find her sound. I believe it was during "My Everything" era and forward, she just kept getting better and better. What I prefer over high loud belts are her soft angelic almost whispery head voice.(similar to Mariah Carey.... But she has her own sound, not saying she copies her at all)
Whitney, Adele, Bruno, Leona, Beyoncé, and Celine all conveyed passion, pain and love in their song. No one can top their songs because they show such strong passion for their own songs. Her closest was Beyoncé’s song. While she has a beautiful voice, it doesn’t come close to the power that came with the other singers. I will say; I’m sure they couldn’t do her songs either. I love Ariana a lot- I even think her voice just keeps getting better and better with the passing years.
Her closest wasnt Beyoncé, cause there is no closest one, like you said when an artist sings their song there’s a level of passion and emotion that can’t be matched. And when artists sing their song or anyone else’s song they sing it their own way, which is why no one can really be objectively better than the original
But her closest attempt at matching an original artist’s voice is probably celine, not that she was close to being better, but she can mimick that accent and tone celine uses
I agree, but she still did good for being in her early 20’s and could hit most of whiney’s notes. Plus good enough to sing for the obamas and have Patti LaBelle take her under her wing
Justsotalented she can hit higher notes than whitney trought, and in this performance she was so scared cause she was singing in front of the president Obama and I can’t blame her I would’ve been scared too

This is mainly because Ariana Grande was very young in this selection of clips, so she lacked technique. Beyoncé, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston were very easy to decide, and they are legendary vocalists. However Spice Girls, Adele, Leona Lewis and Bruno Mars were a bit harder to decide.

I prefer Katy Perry’s “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” than Ari’s. Which goes to show it’s not always about range, but about what you can express to the best of your ability with what you have.
You can’t compare a fetus Ariana covering those songs to adult Ariana. Also with bad quality, etc. There was only two legit videos & off course Whitney cannot be touched. Plus Ariana was still young. The last video is legit. We know Ariana can sing Celine & does impressions. So naturally that was a success. Plus she’s older & not comparing a baby to adults.
Caleb Dempster Tone is subjective, so when people say her tone is pleasant others can say it’s squeaky... If you listen to her run at 2:16 for example you probably wouldn’t consider it too smooth either and sometimes that’s just the case for her. She has much ease high up there, but its oftentimes “wobbly” and a little bit pitchy, not every time but often enough.
