I had one in late 1972. It was shaped very similar to the first one shown by Malcom in this vid. Everybody in my hood wanted to ride that thing. Sometimes it would be missing out of my patio and I would have to go look for it and find out which one of my buddies was using it. Everyone loved to ride it.
The Bonzer Thruster was the 1st functional multi fin board, hitting the beach in the mid 70's. You could remove the center fin and ride it like a twin, all twin fins up to that point were essentially unfunctional. The Thruster is without a doubt the predecessor to all tri fins/multi fin boards. You can't rewrite surf history. Were there other shapers making multi fin designs, yes. Did they ride worth a damn, were they functional enough that you wanted to ride one every day...no.
