Damn, take me back to 2008-2012. Prob the best time to be 'hip'. Miss the awkwardness and trying to "find yourself". Bands like Ariel Pink and MGMT will live on in my heart forever.
@lmind2 i read in an interview once... interviewer: so how have you adjusted to becoming famous ariel: well i've been a celebrity in my head for as long as i can remember so it's really not much different
@KaossEdgar yes, excellent voice range, and incredible presence. I'm trying to understand how he worked before the band. thanks for all the info, witnessed him live recently and was thunderstruck by his creativity, and power. something you don't see often in current bands, who all seem so derivative. he's the real thing. thanks, Ariel R. wherever you are, you've inspired us, finally.
Muy grata sorpresa esta banda en vivo, mejor que escucharla en casa. No sé por qué Ariel me recordó a Genesis P-Orridge, y esos pantalones por delante rosados por detrás grises tan conceptuales.
jesus christ, i just saw them at laneway festival, brisbane. jesus christ! i was caught at the front, not expecting art of this caliber! hell just the way they LOOKED. forget the descriptor of "music," this was the most aesthetically perfect THING/PHENOMENON i have ever witnessed. they looked funky, they rocked the fuck out.
the album version of this song is good but this live performance is even better, by 1000 times. they also pull off the noise breakdown thing at the end really well here. I've seen them play this live where it was a little bit more chaotic during this part and they seemed unsure of how to end it and finally ariel just signaled for the band to stop. he then said, "don't ask me wtf just happened. i have no idea."
@VitaMite Oh...forget it...my fault for overlooking. The guy is using something that could be a reverb/delay module that i don't recognize, but i see him tweaking it, nevertheless i don't think that the high pitch comes from effects, it's him alright :)
Sounds to me like the keyboardist sings the higher pitch vocals sometimes and he was using a kaossilator fx by korg that uses a laser on an x y axis modulated by the movements of the hand, not a new fx but a cretive use of it!
@@MaleTears Vocals. But you never see them used for such these days outside of broadcasting. They're still used for horns, sometimes bass cabs, occasionally kick drum.
