I'm only halfway through the video but I can't stop myself from commenting. What a great review sir! Everything someone would find out after a week or two of use, in a few minutes. Could have not asked for a better review, thank you very much!
I just got this machine & came across your good review. I agree with the design features not being so good with positioning of on/off switch, steamer & the water holder. With many machines you can fill from the top. The tube in the water makes easy in/out impossible in small places. I have have to move other things to turn machine around & take out the water tank. In general it works. Less crema than the delonghi I had but I am not complaining. :) I was happy with the tip to let the water out of the steamer. Practical!
Thanks for the video. I removed the top successfully to fix my loose toggle switch. Just snap it back done. To remove the top I unscrewed 4 screws in total. 2 near the tank 2 near the drip area
Great review. I like your approach in in doing these reviews by delivering important information that's not given by the producer. IT would be perfect, if you could give information on portafilter and basket materials and also boiler material.
I am currently looking into small espresso machines around that budget! I already have the matching kettle so i would love to get the machine to go with it!
@@bazspaz Its pretty hard to find cheap and good espresso machine... James hoffmann did a couple videos covering best machines under 100, 200 and 500 pounds. But I'll tell you upfront, under 100 none were actually good.
Hello! Your review is amazing, the only wuestion im left with is when to flip the switch back up when making an espresso. I assumed at first it would flip up by its self when done but if I leave it it just keeps running and becomes watery and I’m not sure how long it should be let running for the best taste and strength. I’m no espresso expert at all I just use it for iced lattes in the morning. I’m also wondering if the handle is supposed to be centered because mine doesn’t go all the way to the middle when attached with or without coffee. I know I said one question but just one more thing. What’s the most efficient way of removing the residue after I’m done making my espresso? It’s annoying me so much I’m contemplating selling the machine and getting a new one and I’ve only just owned it for two weeks.. Again thank you so much!
Thank you for the video! I also have this model, and I was wondering how to take it apart for cleaning. The filter under the boiler is really dirty/clogged. I put citric acid every month in the machine, but it does not help. So water comes out of the machine unevenly. Do you have some guide how to disassembly it?
To clean the shower screen you don't need to disassemble it, just unscrew the bolt in the center, similar to this instruction: www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Fix-the-Valve-Spring-espresso-Machine-Leaki/
I just bought the machine and i liked it but i want to buy bottomless portafilter i had read that the portafilter is 60mm then how much the tamper and distributor should be ?
Thanks a nice review. But you failed to show how to disassemble. From one frame to the next, woosh, the top is off and it is in bits. How do you get the top off? Would be nice that the title of your video matched the content. Please advise
Hello my friend! Very nice video! Tell me please how did you remove the top part? I have this machine and the part where the steam comes out is leaking water so I have to tighten it. Thank you!
It's quite easy comapring to other espresso makers. You need to unscrew 2 or 4 (don't remember exactly) screws under the upper part. After that the top (colored) part will be fixed only by plastic locks (sorry for my english - i'm not sure that it is the correct word). So after unscewing just pull the upper part to the top, i used kitchen knife covered in towel (to avoid scratches). Don't be afraid to do it with an effort. Here are some photos: 101coffeemachines.info/img_1834/ 101coffeemachines.info/img_1674/
It worked!!! I have this machine 1 month and I was going crazy! I have warranty but i fixed it! There are 2 O rings inside but the screw was not properly tightened. Thank you VERY VERY much my friend!!!!! Have a good night!
I did not see a PID module. Does it rely only on a simple thermostat to turn the boiler off and on? If so the temperature fluctuations must be quite big which can be a big problem for temperature stability.
Of course there is no PID. The machine costs 100 euro. It has three thermostats: two for lights and turing boiler off/on, the third is for thermometer.
Hi there,i'm interested in buying an espresso maker, i like ariete 1389,ariete 1324 and one of the delonghi scultura or icona (which are the same inside).Whuich one should i choose? I own a grinder and i want to buy an unpressurized gasket but i need also the pressurised for my wife (she won't try the unpresurised)
It seems quite loud when it pulls the espresso! Is it louder than other De'longhi espresso machines, or is that just from the placement of your camera?
Hi i have to open the part where the coffe go out to clean it cause i made mistake an i used wrong coffe and now water does not come out?? How can i open this part? Is imposible
Hi Dimitriy. Im glad you shown the inside. My coffee machine is a similar one. The pump broke. Do you think its worth fixing? Im not sure if its just the pump though :(
Portafilter's diameter is not standart, so I doubt if you can find one that fits it. However, if you will remove the rubber part from under the basket, then the original one will become unpressurized.
Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (US) thinks that's OK, especially if boil water in aluminum, not acidic liquid: "Exposure to the levels of aluminum that are naturally present in food and water and the forms of aluminum that are present in dirt and aluminum pots and pans are not considered to be harmful. Eating large amounts of processed food containing aluminum additives or frequently cooking acidic foods in aluminum pots may expose a person to higher levels of aluminum than a person who generally consumes unprocessed foods and uses pots made of other materials (e.g., stainless steel or glass). However, aluminum levels found in processed foods and foods cooked in aluminum pots are generally considered to be safe." Source: www.atsdr.cdc.gov/phs/phs.asp?id=1076&tid=34
i bought this one to replace my more expensive coffeemachine for the time being. but the piston is very badly produced. i like my coffee a bit stronger so i fill the piston up with a bit more coffee. my piston broke down within 4 months. I would never buy this product again and would save up another 350 euro so you can by a mid range product.
Yes, the quality of coffee is OK, just like on Delonghi. The ease of useness and materials could be better, however it's cheap. And I believe it's better to choose Ariete when you are really short on budget, rather then some Chinese engineered coffee maker (like Hamilton Beach, Beem, Klarstein, Somela etc)
@@101kofemashina best value for money machine which you think that it is and how much you should spendto buy something that will last long a time? will this price be enough or after one year i will throw it from the window?i mostly drink at least one espesso with ice and i buy it 1.80 euro every day from the coffee shops..i think this have to change..
Thank you! I've been asking on different sites if this unit has any aluminum parts and gotten no answers (the description just says "metal")....finally I have my answer! Super disappointing that the boiler is aluminum. So unhealthy. I will have to move on from this unit. Too bad....I love the look. But not worth the health issues aluminum can cause.
@@101kofemashina yes, according to your machine, for example the delonghi dedica It's tamper and distributer size are 51mm, worldwide there are 3 or 4 standard tamper sizes for the same standard basket sizes.
No, however you can make prebrewing effect manually - simply switch one the water supply for 1-2 seconds, switch it off, wait 5 seconds and brew espresso as usual. Most of the prebrewing systems on the automatic espresso machines works exactly the same way. In case of the Ariete 1389 it's just not automated proccess.
Are you sure its an alluminum boiler? Delonghi uses stainless steel boilers.Alluminum corrodes and releases alluminum salts which are noxious for your health.
Yes, I'm sure. I disassembled both, De'Longhi uses steel boilers indeed (see my test 101coffeemachines.info/compare/delonghi-vs-saeco-vs-hamilton-beach/ ). Ariete, as well as Philips/Saeco in the cheapest models and numerous Chinese-engineered espresso makers like Hamilton Beach for example, use aluminium boilers. Aluminum corrodes but it does not rust, aluminum corrosion is aluminum oxide, a very hard material that actually protects the aluminum from further corrosion. However, it's not so harmful, Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry states that "aluminum levels found in processed foods and foods cooked in aluminum pots are generally considered to be safe" (www.atsdr.cdc.gov/phs/phs.asp?id=1076&tid=34). Aluminium Italian moka pots are great example :)
