Arild haugens third fights against Jean Vidal Yemou. Arild won by a 4th round TKO(Yemou quit) www.arildhaugen.com credit: filmavdelingen @ Vimeo. vimeo.com/10676959
Arild placed 8th at worlds strongest man at the age of 23!! he also crushed the world record in the atlas stone by A MILE. hes also done 400kg deadlift in a strongman competition after flipping 400kgs of tires.. and he had lost 6kg the previous two days before that due to illness.. This guy should try mma instead of boxing.. then he could use hes explosive strength in take downs and ground and pound.. hes body is muuch much better suited for mma/wrestling. hes known for explosiveness in the strongman enviorment. Hes a very fast guy, and sprints fast. Punches like a bull.
***** Like you know whats worth doing or not.. haha, look at yourself. look look like a A4 - stereotypical american white guy with no guts.. Go play in the streets, nancy.
***** i happend to know arild in real life, "husband" (lol what youtube name is that!?).. and he doesnt have any health problems, he actually got out of the sport due to the risk of health problems later on.. which is a fact, but you have to risk something to become something.. just like ALL the NFL players, they are full on steroids. u bash them too? Just shut up, its clear that your a jealous litle piece of dirt. :)
@Madmanin I think he's getting powerlifters confused with Olympic lifters. Elite Oly lifters have great jumps, are absurdly fast in the first 10-20 meters of a sprint (at least comparable with actual elite sprinters), etc. I'd also wager you'd be surprised at how fast Marius could move - you wouldn't think he could drop into a full splits to look at him, but he can. Ortmaeyer (another strongman but not with Marius's old Oly background) has a pretty impressive (not awe-inspiring) plyo jump here
I'm sure boxing was an exciting adventure in Haugen's career, but I'm glad he's back in Strongman now. That's what he's good at. In boxing, he'd eventually get knocked out, and getting knocked out cold is never good for an athlete's performance in the future.
Arild Haugen have to build more punching power.. and he also have to train more speed each of his punches must be meant for knokout stop the jabbing and begin punching hooks and other strong punches
In fact, if Arild Haugen wanted success as a boxer, he should use his size and strength to his advantage, roughing up his opponents on the inside. Nobody would have the strength to keep him off.
>_> how come people think that two guys weighing more thn 120 kg's would be fighting like two featherweights... at that weight they wont be using a lot of footwork or fancy outboxing, they are too heavy... it will be a lot of heavy defence, good endurance and lots of 1 hit turnarounds.
He is just too tense. Like Pudzianowski. For all their size and strength, they have no speed or notable punching power. Even with strength like this, it means next to nothing if it isn't accompanied by skill.
@111sully111 Yes. Short, non-literal translaiton: In the future I'll be training with weights to compete in Strongman. I want to win back the Norways Strongest Man title and compete in WSM next year. I don't train boxing.
@vzx974 thats right but still the advantage of bigger stronger guy is that he almost cant be koed even by skilled puncher...dont know why maybe cause is big but thats true
@vzx974 fiighters are execising by weighlifting too...its not nosnense...man who has strenght to lift some very heavy thing has strength to punch well strength is strength no matter how gained
How can you compare a guy who have fighted for 30 years with an unexperienced fighter. If Hulk have been training boxing for 30 years its reasonable to compare them.
Not really. Just like a boxer would lose in the first event of a competition, Arild Haugen would get bombed out in the first round against world class opposition. He wouldn't know how to defend himself, nor would he stay on his feet if he actually got caught. Size and strength does not equal punching power and resilience.
@d15craxx Holyfield... Has he not died from aging yet? Still he probably would beat Haugen. But this is not a random guy with muscles. It is one of the world's strongest human beings currently alive. He could punch a hole in many pro-boxers.
enig, han kunne brukt styrken mye bedre i MMA enn i boksing, boksing er så teknisk, siden i mma er det jo flere andre måter å bli god på, så man trenger ikke være best på akkurat en ting.
I think Arild Haugen should stick to what he knows and that is lifting heavy objects. He's not a natural talented boxer. He might achieve mediocracy in boxing, whereas he's a very talented power lifter. Watching this the black man had better moves, technique and flair in my opinion. Respect to Haugen for trying out boxing, but stick to what you know best.
@Madmanin powerlifter who learns how to hit has stronger hit than normal boxer thats fact because he IS stronger i know its about technique but if powerlifter knows that tahn his pucnh is stronger than anyones
this is a fckn joke. I'm sure the black dude would've knocked that bonehead Haugen down if he wanted to. I'm sure he was payed off to lose on purpose. Even when not trying to land one single hard punch during entire fight, Arild took this one because I'm sure the judges were pyed off too.
@behemuth The FACT is, he's not going nowhere, and that's A FACT!! So i don't need to think or judge him anymore, it's done, his not no BOXER! Anybody can put on gloves, but can they make it against REAL BOXERS?????? NO!! That's like saying anybody who raps, can become millionaires, sorry, we don't live in a fairytale
he wouldn't have success as a boxer because he is too big and slow. A light heavyweight boxer would just keep getting away from all his punches, then arild would get tierd and the other guy could clean up
@d15craxx yeah... because every boxer that ever made it big where described as natural geniuses... you make it sound like you have some kind of wisdom, yet you come out just as biased and unfounded as the ones who are way too pro-haugen... they overestimate him, you underestimate him... you're just as bad as they are.
I have no idea who you are and where your hostility is coming from, but good luck with your breakthroughs. If you win a high profiled fight one day, call me out and you will have my respect. Until then, you are no better than me or anyone else for that matter. Still a nobody. Besides, as I said, punch resilience is obtained mainly through getting punched, not improving your back strength. Although strong muscles are undoubtedly required, it comes down to long-term conditioning in the end.
