this is just my opinion, but I don't think she is that good... sure she has the best jump smash, but it's still not good enough to be a weapon. It's much easier just to go to defense in WD and wait out till she gets tired from jump smashing. I do think that Yuta is carrying the pair. Other reason might be that playing 2 disciplines is time and stamina consuming and its better to play only in 1 category.
she did play wd during her early career days and i think she did good. she's been focusing in xd due to her aggressive and fast playing style. anyway in japan it is not easy to create pairs as they have to be in the same club as their doubles partner and japan already has many good wd pairings so yeah
Most XD players can be very good MD/WD players as well. However, in one event, you just don't have enough energy to play both categories. Watanabe/Endo pair was quite successful as well. Until Endo retired. Rumors said Endo asked Watanabe to quit XD and focus on MD but he refused.
@@trash3 I think she's actually fairly good. It's not just the jump smash, she's really athletic, have you seen her play live? On service returns she will stand with her toe at the line and fully lean in like the men do because she has really explosive leg strength, many of the other women in XD cannot do this and apply constant pressure with their movement.
@@moatef1886 Don't get me wrong. She is definitely very very good and unique. I am aware of her qualities, but she lacks in other departments. I still think she could be in top 10 with another partner, but Yuta is carrying the pair from the beginning. Of course this is just my opinion so take it with grain of salt.
