In case you didn’t know, in 12:46, Jinwoo uses stealth to basically reverse search the mages. The eyes which uncover his stealth also simultaneously reveal the mages location

Michael’s face when he realised that Jin Wo can potentially bring Igris back as part of his shadow army is absolutely priceless.

I like how he gets every details right just by pausing then reading. This proves us that reading and analyzing the details while watching is important so we can actually know what is actually going on. Best reactor ever!

The timer is 4h and 29min not 4min and 29sec. He actually gained more points for surviving longer, so the penalty zone was pretty crucial for the job.

Just to clear up - The Shadow Monarch he got, wasnt just a title. His Necromancer class literally GOT SO MANY BONUS POINTS from all the extra stuff he has done during the quest, that it all summed up and immidiately ranked the Necromancer class into the EVEN HIGHER job which is The Shadow Monarch

They explained it when he got the ability in the manhwa, but he currently has the ability to summon up to 30 soldiers at once and store up to 20 of them in shadow storage. That’s why he dismissed 11 of them - so he’d have 19 summoned before he got Igris to round out the 20. So he has Igris, 6 mages, and 13 knights.

You're the first reactor I've seen who caught the end credits scene. The time in that quest was hours not minutes. He got lucky since he didn't do his daily challenge; 4 hours were spent in the penalty zone where he could level up and heal and rest. Got _chills_ with this one!

First, this anime is SO wonderful to see as a manwha fan. Watching the animation and hearing the voice acting is just so great and I literally cannot WAIT for the rest of the series to be animated. Genuinely one of me and my husband's favorite series!! You're in for a RIDE!!! Second, I don't see anyone else answering your confusion at 11:40 - Cha Hae-in has an extremely sensitive sense of smell (like Tanjiro) and the majority of hunters smell very badly to her. It was never thoroughly explained in the manwha, but my personal theory is that she can smell the mana from them, because the strongest hunters smell the worst to her. Jinwoo is one of the only hunters that doesn't smell badly to her (the reason is a major spoiler). For her to be in that small enclosed space with top-ranked hunters, it would be like being trapped in an elevator with a bunch of unwashed sweaty athletes lol. Edit: I forgot to mention, the record scratch at 16:31 was freaking hilarious omg. The look on your FACE!! Edit 2: Just realized no one else is mentioning this. At 25:30 when the subtitle says "You're with me now" - that is NOT what he actually said. In Japanese, he said "yoroshiku tanomu" which has a lot of buried cultural meaning that can't be fully translated to English. "Yoroshiku" is what you say when meeting someone for the first time, but can mean anything from "nice to meet you" to "please treat me well" to "I'll be counting on you." And "tanomu" is a gruffly masculine phrase typically spoken by a man of higher rank, meaning "please" or "I am asking this of you" with the expectation that you will do what is asked of you, as you are subordinate to the speaker. So Jinwoo's phrase here is more like "I'll be counting on you to serve me in the future."

Jinwoo used the stealth skill not to hide, but to find out how many mages there. When they used their anti stealth skill. Thats how he knew there were 5 mages left

the under 5 minutes thing might have been misinterputed by you. it has been 4 and a half hours ( 4 hours in penalty zone) and thats why he got bonus points for exciding the time. Sorry im wirghting as im watching. The titles he has are not the definitive titles. if its like an rpg game you have more than 1 title and each title gives you an extrta. he has slain so many wolves that he earned wolf assassin title which made him stronger against wolves. im pretty sure he got goblin assassin as well. What shadow monarch is tho (subtitles say Title so it might be confusing) is pretty much a lvl 2 necromencer. he had so many bonus points from the trial that he got assigned a higher level necromancer tier.

I was literally in tears!!! I can't explain the feelings that surged through me at this episode from beginning to the end, especially at the Arise moment and the arise of Igris! Goosebumps!! Can't wait for our Shadow Monarch in action!!!🦹‍♀️

Solo leveling is like the dragon ball of korea, it revolutionized manhwas and made it much much more popular than ever before, it was a master piece, everything about it.

The Shadow Monarch is a advanced class variation of the Necromancer class. Because SJW completed all of the bonus objectives, he was instantly able to promote to it. The title he got is called the Conqueror Of Adversity, which grants him bonus stats for every point of health he is missing. Also notice that each of his Shadow Soldiers has a rank. Igris has the Knight rank, which means it is as strong as A-rank hunter. When a Shadow Soldier reaches an appropriate level, it can increase its rank, and thus its overall power. Yeah, but now SJW has to spec his stats to balance his new class along with his original fighting abilities, as we saw in this quest, that having a overall balance is important.

So for you anime only watchers who didnt catch on he used stealth so that when the mages uses their skill to see him thru stealth that also means that jinwoo can track down where every mages are

this is the most quiet part of the solo leveling history, FROM THIS IT START TO BECOME GOD FUCKIN FIGHTS

The Job and Class categories are basically the same thing with one being more specific. For example; Class: Mage Job types: Sage, Witch, Dark Mage, Spirit Mage, Elemental Mage, Necromancer, Rune Master, Shaman etc. So Jinwoo's class is kinda like Jack Of All Trades, he can use Assassin class Stealth, Healing Class self healing, warrior class combat ability and brute strength, and finally, the mage class which up to this point he hadn't used yet. So you can view it as, he's an all rounder, but his Main Class is Mage-Necromancer (growth type) and everything else is just his secondary and extra classes and jobs.

The timer said 4 hours 29 minutes. The goal was to "survive for as long as possible" to earn the most possible advancement points. Shadow Monarch isn't a title like Wolf Assassin, it's the highest rank in the necromancer job, meaning it comes with higher level special abilities and unique skills.

Such a fire episode. The Job Change was so unexpected, but I love to see it. And I was confused at first too, but due to his Penalty event, he technically lasted in the dungeon for 4hrs 29min and 16sec! Also, you are the only reactor who stops and reads / discusses the prompts that Jinwoo gets. THANK YOU!

By the way, the final test adds points the longer he lasts, so when he got into the penalty for those 5 hours, all that time was added on top of killing all the soldiers of the test, thats why his job as a necromancer evolved to shadow monarch, and no its not a title its his job, kinda confusing but its just wording, im so hyped about the next season already

I believe Shadow Monarch is still a class, not only a title. It's like a progression from Knight -> Elite Knight. It's a promotion that upgrades specific class to a next level ^^

So just to clear things up shadow monarch is not his new title like wolf hunter its his new class job. Necromancer got upgraded to shadow monarch cause of all the bonus points he got doing the job quest.

I am glad that A1 is apparently in to adapt the whole thing. Someone on reddit claimed (according to a credible leaker) that A1 has 6 seasons planned, this would mean that we get the Jeju Island raid and our best boy in Season 3. Actually, Cha Hae In has a condition (if that’s what you’d call it) due to which, she can’t stand being around Hunters, because for her, Hunters stink, to be frank. She’s sensitive to the smell emanated by the Hunters. That’s why Choi asks her if she’s alright and why she’s got a handkerchief to her nose.

hey Micheal, if you don't know already, the 2nd cour of Solo Leveling is scheduled to be released in this years fall/autumn. Most likely in August.

"Monarch" remeber this title, it will be explained 3rd season. So far from story perspective the show has just started, next season would purely be watching our King kick ass and leveling up to a point he becomes broken. After the next season they will be focusing mainly on stories. Also, our boy doesn't say that word a lot, but whenever he say it, it's memorable that's why we were so hype for this episode, the journey would be amazing and thoroughly enjoyable my friend.

Hey bro! What happened there is that the class points he got during the quest actually exceeded the limit and it resulted in an evolution of classes. It is explained in the manhwa that every class has an evolution, for example, the warrior has berserker as the evolution. In this case, as necromancer is a "hidden class", it's evolutoon is the "shadow monarch" class.
