Please excuse my pronunciation in this video! This tree is the "ARAVAIPA AVOCADO" not the Aravapai Avocado!

My grandpa was the one who told me about agricultural gypsum in clay soils, you can look up the data on most agicultural universities websites. This is not a criticism, but when you take a potted plant out of it's container and you see the roots balled up, the roots are growing in on themselves, slash those roots and they will grow outward. Thanks for the videos Jake and Pam.

You should give him a healthy watering of kelp directly to the leaves and he’ll take in all the nutrients at once. That’s what I do to all my new transplants in Las Vegas and I have immediate new growth

Hi Jake. I am most impressed with this Aravapai Avocado, but will it only grow near or in the desert areas. I live in Show Low, Az and we get some pretty cold winters. Will it survive in THIS climate. I have been trying to find an avocado tree that will live, bloom and bear fruit. Also-does it take 10 years to bear fruit?

Since we are outside of Arizona, is there another place we can get these in California? My father actually lived in Tucson and had his own observatory at his house west of Tucson before he passed. Dr. Merv G. Utter of Mt. Wilson observatory. I may go visit his grave in Tucson and go to Shamus's in pheonix. Ill call first.

I have quit a few of Pineapple Guavas & Strawberry Guavas, the fruit is great on both of them, but the seeds are a bother, but when I get enough of them producing I plan on coming up with a good way to separate the seeds & etc. so I can make Guava juice/nectar.

No existe un aguacate nativo de Arizona, simplemente llevaron un aguacate mexicano a Estados Unidos, y ahí se adaptó, lo mismo pasó con el aguacate fuerte, que fue utilizado para crear el aguacate hass, Saludos.

Any chance i could talk you into selling me some seeds from your avocado? I am working on a permaculture food forest outside of Tucson. I am thinking about heading out to Aravaipa this weekend to see if i can find the original tree.

@BearJew1985 8 лет назад
It's on private property, and not accessible to the public.
@420Homestead
@420Homestead 8 лет назад
BearJew1985 Yeah i figured it was...but that doesn't stop me from at least asking the land owner. I haven't been out there yet but will be going soon. i have walked that section on araviapa creek before and have walked right past the citrus orchard that is described as being on the same property. I doubt the property owners will mind me taking a few rotten fruit off the ground to get the seeds. If they do mind then oh well i will just go for a hike along the creek. beautiful area.
@BearJew1985
@BearJew1985 8 лет назад
Seriously beautiful place. Approximately 12-14 miles of the creek is on private property and not open to the public. Not trying to argue, but the landowners are notoriously private, and you would have to trespass likely for several miles by way of the creek. Probably not a good first impression...
@420Homestead
@420Homestead 8 лет назад
BearJew1985 good to know...I heard it described as being near the citrus orchard that is right next to the creek. last time i was out there i just asked if i could park and hike around since i was not aware of the permit needed to hike into the wilderness area. The person i did ask was happy enough to let me park on their property and as i hiked the creek i didn't run into any no trespassing signs that i remember but it was probably 10 years ago that i was there. I camped on what i assume was private land on a wash that branched off of the creek very close to the citrus orchard. I find that most of the time if you just ask instead of sneaking around then most land owners have no problem. But thanks for the heads up. I will make sure not to trespass out there.
