This is my latest 'How To Build' video it's a detailed tutorial for a small cottage style build it has 2 floors ideal for a starter base or role playing server hope you enjoy! Special thanks to Fire Pumpkin for her amazing decoration check out her channel here: ru-vid.com/show-UC3L8ijEbVbvl5vwQ5bZgs-Q
@Aaron Longstaff : I attempted to try this build and got it up to the point of where the reinforced double doors are placed. How did you get yours to open outward? I’ve checked my snap points over 100 times but mine keep opening inward, instead of outward. I’m playing on PS4 but being on console should still be the same? Outside of that it seems to work on the Island as well. I’ve placed mine on the Beach in solo as a good starting point. I think it could also work as a dodo or other small egg layer coop/pen as well with the design.
How fun is this! I've JUST finished building on this exact location, but using one of your older videos - a beachhouse in wood & stone from 2017. Amazing location to build on the map. I've used your designs for a greenhouse, dodo coop and stables (built them down stream from where you've placed the house). Thanks for all your hard work! I've learned a lot from your videos! :)
I need help. The first sloped thatch wall wont flip the right way. when i use a thatch ceiling it does work but then i cant put the doublet doorframe behind it... what should i do aaron.
I did a build very similar to this in almost the same location-it’s so beautiful there you almost have to do a little fairy cottage or hut :) I like it when you do smaller builds for us solo players!
@@Ümitcan_Uygun06 Well given the build parameters in ark (using the triangle foundations etc here) you only really have a set number of common shapes. So a little octagonal foundation to make a little cottage is fairly basic. Obviously some of the design elements are different in mine:) But I’m also a big fan of architecture. I know a lot of people just build boxy bases and I can’t stand to do that lol.
Decided to build this completely out of tek. Made a few minor changes as always but it was my first tek building so I’m happy with my cozy lil tek cottage 😊
Absolutely love this, is so storybook and the backdrop was perfect for this build, your choice of colors and the decor suit it really well. You nailed it!
Combining your work with Firepumpkin never ceases to amaze me. you two are so creatively phenomenal! And always inspire me to push my own builds further
Bonus invited guest at 13:59 having a look around at what you were doing ;) What a lovely build! Adding this one to the to-do list. Just have to find the right spot for it on The Island map.
Stealing some of Firepumkin's amazing set pieces here for my personal builds. The two of you create some amazing collaborations and variations in color, material pallet but manage to maintain consistent detailing. Glad to see I'm not the only one leveraging the ability to overlay smiting tables with furnaces, chemistry benches and other structures for still-usable but interesting workstation layouts. I would have doubled up a library behind the smithy. You can embed them half-way into each other using rotation and still access both sides to create variation in library layouts. Combined with your materials from Modern House and some Tek pieces, this will make an excellent layout to hide a Tek Replicator in one of my recent city builds. Won't be very 'cozy' but more 'industrial' using some of the hanging-wall-to-fence techniques from Chipzz. This has to be one of the best builds you've done in terms of no wasted space or hidden rooms. Every level is pretty much usable (with little roofing work.)
I really like how you layered the walls. The wood inner wall combined with the stone outer wall looks great. I have been on a Adobe kick lately. I might recreate your build and use Adobe in place of the wood.
Hey Aaron, thanks for another awesome build. Question for you as i cannot figure out what i am doing wrong. When i add on the double doors for the "shudders" the keep opening inward. Yet in the tutorial when you open them the open outwards. Am I just holding my tongue the wrong way when i click "E" to open them? Thanks
Yo I just finished building a structure that was almost the same as this like a day or 2 ago!! I love the idea of the wrap around porch that yours has!!! Definitely gonna be adding that to my house now!
I love your builds and designs. I tried to build a nice looking base using design elements in your videos but I quickly found that I had to remove or modify parts of it because it wont work for a fully functional base. I would love it if you would build a base for functionality and design. Stuff like a teleport pad, replicator, fab, hatching room, Industrial cooker, etc. Everyone just builds a giant box, which is fine I guess but nothing to write home about.
I'd love to know if you figured this out, I'm having the same issue! I've finally got all the inside walls on after much fiddling, but now the outside ones that replace the left-sloped thatch wall just won't snap right and end up destroying the stone wall behind instead.
Make sure you have flipped the sloped thatch wall, then the stone wall is flipped, and placed behind the thatch all the way around. Then the front walls are placed in front of the thatched wall. Took me a couple tries to make the sandwich work, but it does. I can't get the doors on the glass to open the right way outwards
Great build as always! The smaller ones are my favourite :) is the thatch replacement easier than using fence foundations? Or does it do things differently?
Beautiful build! How do we float in the air so we build? I've searched and can't find answer. I've been wondering how people are building without using any ladders, how they can just float around while building with ease
Hello, I'm currently trying this build out on Ragnarok map and started having trouble placing the wooden frame support and wooden frame foundation on the outside edge of the stone foundation part. I'm not sure if it was because I did something wrong on the stone foundation or the wooden railing or the stone double door frames or something else. I was hoping I can get advice on this part.
Hey Aaron! I've been having trouble with one of my own builds. Nothing spectacular honestly. Buy I've been trying to get these sloped stone roofs to intersect and everytime I destroy the extra ceiling or wall or whatever I use to get them up, it all falls down. I did it perfectly last night but destroyed a ceiling that had a gap in it for some reason to replace it and it all broke and I can't redo it. There are no sloped walls at all. As I said, I had it done and can't do it again. Any advice? I tried joining your discord but I have no idea how to do anything on there.
I have a question: I made this build, but the double doors that are used as shutters open the wrong way... How do I get them to face outwards? Do I have to break the glass, open them, and then replace it with new glass? 🤔
Im doing exactly as the video shows but my walls always end up inside out so im curious am i doing this build wrong or are you using S+ i am doing this on xbox and i cant seem to get it to work
i gave up trying to build this, everytime i did exactly as this video says it would never place the walls in the riht spot. the only part i could get to place (after i used fence fondations) was the doorway at the beginning...
So I can't even get passed the first stone double door frame. I try to snap it like it says and it gives me the green go ahead- however when I try to flip it and put it just the way Aaron did it, mine stays red and won't let me place it- keeps saying obstruction. I tried it from all different angles, lowered and raised mouse sensitivity, removed the stairs and added a foundation, reverted it to as it was, even tried rearranging the order I put everything down. NOTHING IS WORKING! Has anyone else got it to work? I really don't wanna give up this build...
UPDATE: The main mistake I made was trying to build this house with all S+ items. For some reason this wouldn't let me snap anything together or combine stuff on top of one another. I got rid of everything and started from scratch with just normal items. It worked all the way up until I got to the shutters. I went back to read the comments and a lot of people struggled with this area- INCLUDING ME! What I did was I removed the stone double doorframes and repositioned them using Q or E to go backward more- because apparently when we all put them down we put them as outward as possible. You don't have to remove anything else just that- then apply the reinforced double doors and it will open outward instead of inward! I am about halfway through the build so I will come back and update if I run into anymore problems and come up with solutions!
UPDATE 2: Currently having trouble towards the end when he puts the thatch ceilings down around the base. For some reason it shows Red for me and it will only let me place them down when I remove the wooden railings (you can indeed put them back once the ceiling is down without having to remove them). However, my ceilings wont face the way yours is going around your home. They are only letting me place them diagonally. WIll come back to update when I have figured out a solution.
UPDATE 3 (FINAL): I finally finished the house. I did it step by step while having to adjust some pieces accordingly. However, it came out pretty much the same as the video and I am so happy. As for the Thatch ceilings- I couldn't get them to stay using the normal ones, but when I created Thatch Ceilings S I was able to place them down just like you did and from there everything else flowed until the end! Thank you so much for an awesome build- I know I am late to this video, but that is because I got into ark super LATE. Gg's see y'all on the next one!
Great looking house, but I absolutely cannot get the wooden fence supports at the end to work properly. No matter where I put the fence foundations or what angle I try to place them at, I can get one column to go where I want to and no more. So I skipped that step, still looks great though.
This build went perfectly for me except one thing: the doors constantly want to open inward. I haven't been able to get all four to open out yet! :D :) :0
Hello I have a cool project for you, could you possibly do something with the giant underwater mushroom cave on ragnorak please? Also are you an architect, cause you should be.
very very very difficult to built,if I made a small deviation before, there will be something that cannot be placed in the next step or next next step, so every time I had to demolish what I built and start over.
I'd also be thankful if anyone figures this out. I finally got the walls down behind the thatch sloped ones, but now can't get the stone walls to snap to fill their place. Just keep taking out the other stone wall.
I have tried for HOURS to try and get the first part. Putting the double door stone fence behind the left thatch wall, but it just keeps breaking it no matter how many angles I try. I am going to have to give up this build which sucks because I grinded so long for all the material.
does anyone know how to do the cabinet on the interior, i did this build myself and figured out how to do the counter/sink but can’t crack that part of inside
I've had this problem for years on PC with mouse and keyboard. It's tedious but can be done...a lot of picking up or replacing tho. My theory is the sensitivity of mouse compared to the static placement camera of a controller.
I had to get rid of the stairs. I'm building on a Island beach in a spot where I really don't need the stairs anyway. I placed a stone foundation where the stairs are and finally got that part to work.
I had this problem, spent well over an hour trying different things. Rewatched the video and watched EVERYTHING he does. Check your foundation positioning! I put my stairs on a triangle foundation, but he uses a square one! Started again and hey presto, two snap points like magic. Hope that helps!
@@AaronLongstaff aye np! I also got a question for u could u also do mobile versions of these builds? If u can then that would be great bc I don't have a pc
Am I tho only one who tries to do these not in GCM? Makes it look so easy but then you try in normal game mode and you have to place the same wall 40 times because it snaps to the wrong spot even tho it's in the spot it needs to be.
