I'm sorry to hear that people have been harassing you over your choice of ship, but can I ask you an honest question? As a CV main, what is your advice on how to counter being targeted by a CV when in a BB? The 'Just Dodge' mantra works in a DD where you have maneouverabilty, but it is functionally impossible to shift the rudder fast enough to dodge torps in a BB - you might avoid most of the first strike, but by the time you do, they've already got another torpedo strike lined up on you. Do you have any advice for what to do in this situation, as it feels like if a CV decides I'm going to die, there's nothing I can do about it in a BB, and that makes BB play very frustrating. Hey! Thank you for watching and for kind words. It means a lot! So here are a few tips from my experience that may or may not help you. 1) Prolong his flight time. Most of the time you'll know where he is so if you see he's focusing you, change your plans and try to move away from him. Far enough so it takes him ages to get to you and close enough so you still can have some impact in the game if he decides to let you go. By reacting well to his attacks and mitigating the damage he'll soon realize it's too difficult/not worth it for him to attack you. If he still goes for you then he’s hurting his own team and doesn’t do his job properly. On the other hand, if your team’s cv captain works for that sweet confederate achievement - your team will most probably win as he does more damage in general and his influence on the match is higher. 2) Grouping together with an AA cruiser can help especially in higher tiers. At lower tiers (IV-V), it's not as viable because ships at that level have really poor AA. 3) Use your Sector Reinforcement after his initial drop. If he attacks your port side - wait for him to drop his attack and activate it on the starboard side. It’s more efficient this way and It’s going to hurt his planes a lot as he circles around for his second attack. 4) Don’t push too hard. You’re going to be punished by either the cv or his team. Don’t wander off solo at the beginning of the match. 5) The moral side of things. One time I was focusing a peculiar ship. His captain wrote to me in chat ":(" I felt bad so I switched my attention to someone else. Maybe I’m being too soft. If someone is nice it's really hard for me to target that person and I'll do it only if I have no other choice. So, the moral factor can work on some people. Just don't go around begging for your life -that's a big no-no - just be nice. Sorry for the wall of text. Good luck in your future games. Cheers!
As a cv main, my tips are dont stray away from your team mates, usually 1 cruiser with your side is enough to defend from cv attacks, well except if they are tier x cv or 2 tier cv, if you see a torp bomber, they will always attack you broadside, so if you see them set aa prio early then slow down and turn in, just like avoiding a citadel salvo
Thank you for your vids! I've had WoW for 5 yrs. but walked away 3 yrs ago because of the toxic hate towards me playing my favorite choice of ships, CVs. Got back into it these last couple of months and the hate is still there, even though you (I) help the team tremendously to secure "the win" AND had good stats to boot. So far, I've gotten several negative karma points all because I've sailed the CV. Keep it up HMS_Implausible! I love watching your vids and learning from them. Thank you. 🤟
I watched that all the way through. It was a good game to watch. Most of the abuse I receive from people in game is from people who never play cv. Or the usual stat hiders. It used to bother me. Now I realise they are just sad little people full of anger and hate. Flamu used to be great. He was always my go to for tips on gameplay and strategy. He used to be quite funny too. I unsubbed from him a long time ago. He changed. He became bitter. He focused more on slagging off the game and complaining. Anyway. Thanks for the video.
As someone that plays CVs a great deal, I agree with OP. WoWs is so toxic about things like CVs, as if threatening some rando player of a class will change anything.
As CV player my self I can say CV is not a brain dead class. It need skill and knowledge to play well and effective for the team but old CV rocket made my DD life become miserable it become very hard to play. After nelf rocket came in I can enjoy to play many weak AA DD that I like again, Also after introduction of soviet CV in particular nakhimov I feel even more dislike toward "some" CV as they can easily eat 10k of my HP in one strike out of my AA range.
