The next sob story we're going to hear is that a bypass was built around their town because people were tired of driving 35mph down a major highway, and now they're upset because their town is no longer economically viable.
First they say its about public safety and then they cry that they aren't getting revenue. So are the police there for public safety or to generate money? Seems a bit fishy to me.
@@ADCGunman A lot of the time, yes. There was a big uproar in the small village south of my hometown because new hire police officers said the town clerk said they needed to “write 5 to 6 traffic tickets a shift to keep things running smoothly, and for their jobs to be secure.”
What about Arkansas State Troopers that go to towns so small there's no police (50-400 people) to "catch" someone, or the Arkansas DOT doing the same thing and ticketing regular people, not transportation vehicles? Investigate and explain this.
States have rights and the power to do that always have they can impose any tax at any time. Example in my state MA has a excise tax when you look into it its a law to excise right to tax the citizens the tax applies to your car being in the town. The issue is small towns villages and cities don't have that right under state law. Also don't think troopers are doing it for money as there budget is really really big compared to a town of 300.
Down here in Louisiana, the local municipalities have contracts with the state police; The local town pays for the troopers overtime and mileage, they keep the ticket revenue the trooper generates on his shift. So it’s not a “quota”, it’s now a “return on investment”. Which is a total line of bullshit but it’s their way around the legalese of state law.
Maybe they should lower the fines for speeding, they still get revenue & they get to ticket speeders. Or is that too simple minded? Who sets the standard for how much speeding tickets cost? I googled it & couldn't find what agency does it.
Wow you got a limit on speeding tickets. Now I can understand if they were giving out false tickets saying ppl were speeding and they weren't. But let's be real. I'm a trucker and everywhere I go NO ONE follows the speed limit but older ppl or sum1 that just got a ticket 😂 To me 1-6 mph over is not bad but many are driving 15+ over. Limit 55 they doing 75 or 80 smh.
Love the Damascus mayor talking about people doing 60-70 in the 45 zone. Like they weren't writing tickets for people doing 47. What a joke. Damascus grew thanks to the gas company and what did they do? Prey on the increase in traffic to line the city's pockets. Disgusting. Policing should not be about the money. Menifee is no better with their rent a cop out pulling people over on I-40 to make money. Towns with less than 300 people with the police force of a town with 3000.
Damascus cops were stealing the money as well. They just got moved to neighboring towns no legal trouble. And the cops themselves were the most dangerous drivers in town all day they would drive as fast as possible back and forth ticketing people all day long. And (knock on wood) I’ve yet to see a wreck in Damascus since then.

Here's you another city. Poyen city with a population of 290. Arkansas law states speed limit shall not be applicable upon the freeways and interstate highways of this state or to school zones adequately protected by a steel fence limiting access to and egress from safety crossings. They have school zone signs on hiway 270.
This entire story is a result of bad road design. If the road through town was designed well, this wouldn't be an issue because people would naturally slow down through town. It's insane that they have a highway-sized road through town and expect people not to drive highway speeds.
Heavener Oklahoma has seven cop cars and I think 3400 people grew up there they had one cop car that would barely run then they got some kind of intrepid or something and thought that was hot s*** and just kept stepping it up now you can't run 37 in a 35 or have out of state tags
Start by reducing the police force and other government positions until the budget balances! Why are government entities bemoaning that they don't have any other way to raise revenue other than speed traps but American families are forced to trim their budgets when facing financial distress? Clearly it's not about safety, if it was then they would install rumble strips and show us the overwhelming number of traffic accidents and fatalities they are suffering from and their plan for the newest roundabout to increase the safety of the area.
How about Gould and Grady? How does a town get caught doing this? Are there yearly audits done by the state or does someone have to make a complaint? If so where do you complain?
Alpena Ar a is horrible . 3 weeks and still don’t have my citation amount. Done everything in my power to get help , but get the government run around .
A speed trap is when an officer tells a person to speed . Then the officer turns around and the officer sits on the side of the road an catches the person speeding then writes them a ticket.
I think that a certain small town along highway 67 between Malvern and Benton is possibly doing it some as well. In addition to my own experience with them because of a hill causing me a bit of a increase in speed getting me a hefty ticket fine. A friend's mom moved there and one night when he had been visiting her. The cops pulled him over and since he drives like a old lady & never ever speeds. They all but took his truck apart searching it for a reason to give him a citation/ticket. He said that they seemed angry that they couldn't find something to cite him for lol. Cause the only law I have ever seen him break is the seat belt law but for once he was wearing it that night lol.
I've gotten lots of speeding tickets over the years, and earned every single one of them. Don't speed and you won't get a ticket. You have no one to blame but yourself. .
