Just add a buff warerat with biker leathers riding a devils ride and your set....maybe a buff wereshark wearing wrangler jeans and cowboy boots and a gargoyle and then your are set. When I was reading about his tower I was like my god my players are definitely going here lol

If he ran it, he would probably use arkhans actual character sheet. the stat block version is not equivalent of a level 20 character

Technically Arkhan is around level 18 after the whole event, but yeah a massive chunk of the statblock (Pally Aura and SMITE, solid few more spell slots and spell options and Barbarian Rage) is missing.

ANDELE3025 That’s just a by-product of being an NPC rather than a PC. In D&D 5e, NPCs follow different rules than PCs do. You’ll also notice he has d8s for Hit Dice because Arkhan is a Medium creature, rather than the d10 that a Paladin PC would normally possess.

@@Legion19911009 You would also notice that both Krull and the minotaur get their featureset. Also Hit dice type dont matter for NPC with the flat modifier bonus. Spellcasting feature, ability to SMITE and resistance to bludgeoning/piercing/slashing if caught without flint plate on/to muscle flex and break the bonds on the plate if party attacks with magic weapons very much does.

5E level 20 characters are *NOOBS* compared to the amount of xp it takes to get to level 20 in FIRST EDITION D&D. Now you hit mid teens when you would be barely 9th level as a 1st ED character. Pansies.

Build -IT it is actually, but it’s not to be featured as a main place for an adventure like sword coast and stuff. It’s there, but no one talks about it, so it’s not really THERE there, you know?

Its cannon, it's just another multiverse they can't make an official statement yet because they have to yet replace all the pathfinder things Matt was using but is pretty much another universe.

The last year my interest in dnd has peaked. Yet i have no friends and my local comic shop are super closed group, friends only type of atmosphere. This ia torture!! I just want to jump in and play somewhere lol I heard the DnD community is amazing but so far they've only made me feel more of an outcast... Which i didn't even believe was possible lol

The way I would run him is as follows: First, I would have the PCs have a run-in with Tiamat on the way to one of their destinations - she may be trapped on Avernus, but she can go wherever she wants there. But when they encounter Tiamat, she has no desire to kill the PCs, and instead demands that they do something to amuse her. One of the group rolls a Charisma (Performance) check of...oh, DC 17. If they succeed on the check, Tiamat is suitably amused and lets them go. If the one making the check beats the DC by 5 or more or rolls a natural 20, she is VERY pleased and offers to do them a small favor if she feels like it. If they fail, she gets annoyed and flies off with no further consequence. If they roll a natural 1, the performance goes SO badly that she literally starts laughing, and ends up giving them the same benefit as if they beat the DC by 5 or more. Fast-forward to the encounter with Arkhan. If the PCs approach him with the Orb of Dragonkind given to them by Uldrak the empyrean in order to get his reliquary, she takes over Arkhan's mind and accepts the Orb alone, preventing the PCs from potentially having to sacrifice Lulu the hollyphant or Mooncolor the Unicorn. If they approach her in order to ask her to break the Companion/Solar Insidiator or confront Zariel, she agrees to do so without question. But she will ONLY do this if the PCs GREATLY amused her.

He originated as a PC in Critical Role Campaign 1 (played by Joe Manganiello) and after that became official DnD lore. So you can watch the episodes with him in it.

Probably just trying to make it easier to play, running a set of full PC's is a lot. And if you pissed him off he would be able to just blender most players, or some whole teams, in a round.

@@whowasibeing Dude, the party can piss off Tiamat or Zariel and choose to run into Yeenoghu (or his giant catfish thing) or Baphomet (and his gang of furries), getting murdered by Arkhan should be the least of their worries. Especially after they did write down most (tho just most/missing some features) of the statblock of Arkhans 2 minions.

Kinda, there's the Sword Coast Adventurers guide, but as far as I'm aware it's mostly just information for running a game in the Sword Coast, and there's some players option like subraces and subclasses, however several of the subclasses got reprinted in Xanathar's Guide to Everything and pretty much all of the subraces are in Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes.

Sadly in our game, Arkhan went out like a punk. Very disappointing really. One Polymorph spell and the River Styx and that was it. Saving throws matter! LOL
