I love how Ebenholz asking "Will you stay a part of me the rest of my life" could be talking about the witch king's invasion of his mind, or him asking if Kreide will be with him in spirit
Due to a certain meme, it is now my headcanon that Eben's leitmotif involves guitars and drums to annoy and spite the voice of terra with rock and roll.
[Standchen starts playing] Voice of Terra: Ooh, I like this, this one's a classic. I remember mother used to-- [MSR remix starts up] Voice of Terra: fml
Beautiful piece and I don't know anything about the game. What you are talking about seems to be deep. I checked and it is a free Asian mobila game. They can have depth or are you guys being dramatic? Actually, the same could be said about genshin that it has depth of storyline and also is a free mobile game from Asia.
Ebenholz is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters. First he's incredibly well written (and has that old german stubornness and mannerism), and then his theme is a banger too. I've been looking forward to Lingering Echoes for a while, fantastisch :D
I saw Kreide as Eben's older brother, I know they are not directly related but Kreide was Eben's brother in the sense he always protected him, when they were kids and at the end of the story.
As a new Arknights player he's my first 6 stars. Got him today! I love him so much! But I really wish they made Kreide playable 😭. He's so beautiful and handsome he doesn't deserve to die 😭
I really love how HG uses real world music as references for this event along with the theme song of Ebenholz. His voice sounds so beautiful, he could fit to be an opera. After what happened in the event and seeing the new background for Lingering Echoes, he deserve some happiness and love.
lyrics from MSR website: Composer: Robert Wolf Vocals: Airton Santos Araujo Lyricist: David Lin I spent my life suffocating Ignoring villains living inside me Oh, my guilt is never-fading It forever lives on Under my skin Killing me from within Will you stay a part of me for the rest of my life? You tighten your grip Like shackles on both my wrists Will you stay a part of me for the rest of my life? I once was a dreamer But then I grew up and saw the real world When I look in the mirror I can almost see you crawling Under my skin Killing me from within Will you stay a part of me for the rest of my life? I bit my tongue for years I choked back every tear I carry you all on my own 'Cause you insist you only feel at home Under my skin You're killing me from within Will you stay a part of me for the rest of my life?
Super interesting, the obvious literal reading of the Lyrics is about the Witch King within him but if you look deeper you can see.....It's really about Kreide and the impact he had on Ebonholtz and how he will carry the grief and guilt he feels over his death with him until the day he dies.
I love these lyrics. Instead of the traditional meaning where the question would be asked to a good friend or lover, it evokes a deep sadness where the "part" is undesired and even pushed away. But it can't be removed so easily.
I see most people think the you in this song is Kreide, but I still tend to interpret the you as The Witch King. The part 'cause you insist you only feel at home under my skin kind of not making sense for Kreide to me. Either way, it's interesting to read both interpretations.
I heard this song a few months ago when the story was not yet on global and it was just a cool and dark sounding song. Now that I read the story tho... man does it hit.
I made a rather uhhh . poetic german translation of the song! (english translation of the german one is below too ) ------ Mein Leben war lang’ am ersticken Umging die Schurken, sogar dem in mir Oh, solch Reue bleibt doch ewig. Tief in my drin, Du tötest mein Ich, von inn’. Bleibst du ein Teil von mir, für den Rest meiner Zeit? ---------------- My life was suffocating for long Evaded the villains, even the one inside me Oh, such regret stays forever. It lives on Deep inside me, You’re killing the Self within. Are you staying a part of me, for the rest of my time? Your grip tightens Shackles drag my weight Are you staying a part of me, for the rest of my time? Once I was a dreamer, then I too grew up, and saw the truth When I look into the mirror I can already see you come for me! Deep inside me, You’re killing the Self within. Are you staying a part of me, for the rest of my time? Contained myself year to year, and swallowed even the tears. I drag you away all alone For only in here you feel at home. Deep inside me, You’re killing my Self, from within. Are you staying a part of me, for the rest of my time?
Weak? Far from it But I can tell majority of players would find his kit to be hard to utilize at a wrong moment. _Still satisfying to see him deal that burst damage tho_ 👀
For those who are wondering what Eben plays/stock music during the last story cutscenes, it's cello suite no 1 bach Unsure if it is the exact same but it is similar
The thought that Ebenholz is a band musician with a love for rock music that drowns out the voices in his head is such an amazing headcanon. Personally, it's probably the first time a headcanon has really felt so possible to me. And this song perfectly encapsulates his character and his story. I love this game.
OH MY GOD each New song I am like: They cant surprise me anymore... But each time I am in an awe. We started with Nice classical music then the voice appeared then this rock vibe thrown me out of the window ! What a strong song, every word pours the pain of this tragic boy !
Shoutout to Arknights writers for focusing on the Opera, arts and music side of Germanic culture instead of "Industrial, Military totally not WW1/2 Germany" that most anime media tends to portray Germanic themed nations as
A large part of that is that arknights is a Chinese creation where most media is made in the west, giving it a more unique perspective on the culture. Where here in the west, at least in the US, folks don't learn anything about Germany before the world wars. Or if they are in a good school they might include a week to talk about Bismark. And in the US historically we've never had a favorable look at the Germans as even before the wars they were pushed even further west from the settled east coast because "ugh, foreigners."
"I once was a dreamer but then i grew up and saw the real world" hits me hard. Years ago i have so many thing i want to do, but life just don't allow that.
I must say that this is definitely one of my fav eps! Ebenholz's design is really amazing, and so is the story of lingering echos. It could just be me but does Ebenholz look like a male version of Chen? That was the first thing I thought of when I first saw his design haha
Bruh this song slaps so hard, the orchestra from Franz Schubert mix with a modern take makes this so much better. Not gonna lie, I really feel bad for Ebenholz in this event as he got slapped harder than me trying to find a way to pass LE-8 now
Orchestral rock, simply fantastic. I never read this event story in full, but got a bit of a synopsis online... I really need to read it. This type of stuff makes me appreciate life, and makes me desperately wish to become a better artist, even though all I'm semi good at is illustration.
Two childhood best friends/cousins happily going to a classical music concert to perform, but little did they know that the concert is actually a ritual to revive the Witch King a very powerful Caster that once ruled and terrorized Leithenien by using one of his direct descendants Ebenholz (the guy in the picture) and Kreide as a sacrifice.
Story is about child torture and experimentation, human sacrifice, corrupt politics, fascist loyalists unable to move on from their beloved dead dictator, prejudice and discrimination, nobles and commoners, classical music concert, death of a best friend, and angst. Too much angst.
Set in the Infected quarantine district, the Afterglow, of the Leithanian nomadic city of Vyseheim, Lingering Echoes tells about Hibiscus' investigation of a rumor concerning the sudden "recovery" of Oripathy and a local musical concert. The story will eventually turn into a dark conspiracy plotted by the Witch King's Remnants and their attempt to perform an evil ritual through the accursed bloodline of two innocent boys.
This event has one of the most intriguing and tragic antagonists in the game. So many things could've been different if only she had opened up to others and asked for help. Admittedly, given the circumstances, that would be very hard.
after listening to Franz Schubert's D957 Ständchen, this rendition of Arknights becomes especially potent for me. the original has a feel of like "Embrace the calming sorrow", but this one, another emotion gets put into it that just ties Arknights version really well together
Basically Harry potter but magic through music. The man in black finds his long lost half brother, who plays the chello in the background. They get along, play music, talk about their plans for a grand concert to help brother's gramps. Further along, an evil entity lives inside the brothers and white sacrifices himself to avoid the second coming of the entity
Depression, schizophrenia, discrimination, nobles versus commoners, experimentation of children, human sacrifice, politics, loyalists of a former powerful (both politically and magically) dictator engage in terrorism because they want to revive him, incurable disease, disaster in a classical music concert, the loyalists are looking for the dictator's closest descendants (Ebenholz and Kreide) to sacrifice them, Ebenholz (a noble musician/flute player) reunited with his cousin Kreide (a commoner musician/cello player), Ebenholz's cousin/best friend Kreide turned into a gigantic monster, Ebenholz fought and defeated Kreide, Ebenholz faking his death to get out of his homeland so he could taste freedom because for most of his life he was locked up in a Castle's tower like a Disney prince whose only purpose is to be used as a puppet figure by the higher ranks, Ebenholz playing the cello in the end of the story remembering his happy memories with Kreide P.S. Ebenholz deserves happiness
At least try to farm the event currency, the amount sanity used is equal to the event currency. If you can beat LE-8 then its good otherwise farm on LE-5,LE-6, LE-7.
